  1. Joey Murray also continues mowing down FSL 6.2 IP 1 H 1 ER 2 BB 8 K 5-1 record with 1.55 ERA
  2. More trade deadline stuff on The Athletics, great content on potential trade partners and their assets. Highly recommended sub, especially when it goes on sale (happens all the time). Not only does he highlight the teams that might be buyers, but the names they might be willing to deal. I think most of them will have some level of interest in Stroman or Giles. “Bowden: A look at Futures game prospects who are most likely to be traded this month”
  3. I think a couple small trades has to happen to alleviate the incoming 40 man roster crunch. Like I’m sure they will try to consolidate some fringe guys or bench pieces for an extra pitcher. We have a ton of guys that will be rule-5 eligible.
  4. Awesome stuff, wish I could go. Share some pics with us
  5. To be blunt, I respect both those guys, but they’d be worth somebody 15-30th prospect at best. Basically an org guy, like Steve Pearce trade last year. You don’t need to wait till July 31st for that trade. If they’ve already decided to call up Bichette this season, it makes sense to do it sooner rather than later. Keeping him down there a few weeks longer has no impact on his service time or super 2 status. If Bichette is the future, Sogard and Galvis has no business blocking him. It’s like saying Aaron Sanchez, Jacob Waguespack, and Sean Reid-Foley are blocking Nate Pearson. That makes no sense to me and it’s poor asset management. Either keep him down till next April, or call him up soon.
  6. I’m probably the outlier but I can see him earlier. 3rd or 4th week of July
  7. Quick snippet from Jim Bowden’s recent Athletics article
  8. 2019 is all about development and some of that happens off the field. While I agree he could rest less and DH more to find consistency, we really have no idea about his mental state or health status to really question the manager’s decision. Maybe getting hit on the hand is still bothering him, we don’t know. They showed a pic of him stressed out about that pinch-hit grounding out from the previous game. I feel like he just has to get back out there and enjoy playing ball again, there’s too much going on between the ears. He wasn’t like this in the minors and I followed him pretty closely since Dunedin. One thing is for sure, he looks a bit frustrated and going through his first struggles in baseball.. pretty much for the first time in his pro career. Stress relief, time off, and this all-star break might not be a bad thing. Just to step away for a bit and “soft reset” on his season, similar to Gurriel going down to Buffalo. Just to put things into perspective, in the minor leagues the amount of times Vladdy didn’t reach base in 3 consecutive games can be pretty much counted on one hand. He was so dominant (and advanced for his age, while being the youngest player at his level), that he regularly had hits and walks in games, and once a week go ham with multiple XBH. (3/4 with XBH and BB is a normal weekly routine for Vlad). That’s how he was putting up 150-200 wRC+ Barry Bonds/Willie Mays type numbers and stretches of batting .400 with .500 wOBA. There’s too much talent there and he just needs to go through these rookie slumps to figure stuff out.
  9. Griffin Conine with another 3 hits (2 doubles) and 3 RBI Orelvis Martinez with another triple Also Patrick Murphy was sitting 98 and touched 100 mph few days ago. It looks like he's getting used to the new delivery. 15th round pick prep pitcher Michael Dominguez also made his first start for the GCL Blue Jays: 3.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K we seem to have good luck with 15th round picks
  10. It’s a fair question. Injuries aside, his triple-A performance has left much to be desired. But from what I heard from BA, they still have no doubt his stuff is ace/frontline quality. You just don’t see guys at 6-7 with 5 plus pitches with a 70 grade fastball, with 70 grade changeup and plus slider, curve, cutter. Age is also a real thing, he’s one of the youngest pitchers in AAA. Some of his poor outings this year attributed to just lost of composure when things didn’t go right on the mound (e.g. defense making errors behind him), needs to mature a bit more. Command also needs more polish (seems like a trend in Astros farm with all the crazy spin-rate stuff). But seeing how guys his age are typically in A+/AA right now they’re giving him some leash.
  11. Franco Adell Gore Whitley Bichette Luzardo Mize Tucker Lewis Kirilloff Hiura Lux Bart Robert Pearson
  12. He was also throwing to Andres Sotillo instead of Riley Adams
  13. Hi guys Gurriel is batting .317/.369/.650, 1.019 OPS and 164 wRC+ Cheers
  14. That’s not exactly true. Juan Soto, Fernando Tatis jr, Ronald Acuna were all not uber high profile guys at signing time, and they turned out okay.
  15. They’re going in the “sign a bunch of mid-tier guys” approach, similar to when we got Hiraldo, Jimenez, Pardinho But seeing how most of these guys have been committed for 1-2 years now, it’s difficult to gauge and plan ahead. When the kids being scouted are 13-14 yrs old, prospects can drastically change in just 6 months at that age after they stop being showcased
  16. Carlos Perez, Venezuela Jean Arnaez, Panama Yeuris Sanchez, Dominican Republic Christopher Rodriguez, Dominican Republic
  17. Rikelvin De Castro $1,200,000 Robert Robertis $750,000 Penier Brito $600,000 Cesar Ayala $450,000 Cristian Feliz $325,000 Victor Mesia $300,000
  18. Yes and he looks uncomfortable doing it while getting hammered
  19. Not sure what happened to Smith, but he did heat up a tiny bit recently. Long ways to go since he was non-existent for like two months. On another note, since June 1 Demi Orimoloye is hitting .325/.388/.610, OPS .999 and 194 wRC+ in Dunedin. There’s some hope that one day Buck will have to pronounce his full name “Oluwademilade Oluwadamilola Orimoloye”. He’s an African-Canadian (Nigeria) from Ottawa that was part of the Canadian Junior National team program, like Dasan Brown. Came from last year’s Curtis Granderson trade.
