  1. I hope they save Martin a spot on the 60-man. Welcome to the board!
  2. Also remember we signed Ryu, the animosity with Boras is in the past. His loyalty is to money. Next year’s draft is very saturated, a guy with injury history shouldn’t play around. There’s a ton of college guys that are going back to school. I also find it hard to believe this front office would draft Frasso if they didn’t have a good sense of his $ number.
  3. They won’t be allowed to fly here if they tested positive right? I’m assuming the kids are safe.
  4. College players get an extra year of draft eligibility due to cancelled season. He would in theory be draft eligible for two more years. But he just turned 21 entering this year, you really don’t want to wait until 23 to get drafted and lose all leverage. There’s also no reason for him to do this, the Blue Jays are one of the best landing spots for him if he cares about winning and $. We also have nobody blocking him at the MLB level. Don’t worry, Martin will sign. Now that Boras Corp crossed off Torkelson on his checklist, Martin and Mitchell are next.
  5. I think the Hurl has made it very clear the removal of those threads was just the first step. They will strictly forbid harassment and personal attacks. You can also help them by reporting these posts instead of responding to them in the future. It is okay to have different opinions. At least to me, it’s clear the mod team cares enough to make change.
  6. It’ll be obvious which guys are not participating in ST, it’s kinda hard to hide
  7. If that’s the extent of the damages, I think we’ll be okay.
  8. What are the covid hot spots? Flordia, Arizona, California, New York? If half the league is on covid IL we might actually have a shot at the division.
  9. This is the main issue. I think the whole idea of OT-Politic was good for discussion, but in practice those topics walk a very fine line and it just went a little too far. It’s easy to get caught up in heated discussions. I think when it starts creating an uncomfortable environment, and those feelings and discussions start appearing in other threads, it just needs to stop. There’s not just one single person’s fault here and guys just need to move on.
  10. Martin is the only player in the top 10 that hasn’t signed.
  11. I fully expect our boy Nate to throw gas @ Aug 1st, even without looking at the schedule. From interviews, he sounds comfortable and understands this whole service time thing and doesn’t hold it against the Blue Jays.
  12. That’s one way to do it, this system discourages teams outside the top 4 to not throw away the season. But it does have it’s flaws. The Tigers would have a 7 game advantage on Orioles from day 1, which means Baltimore would have to lose 8 more games to catch the #1 pick. The Marlins are 10 game behind, and have to lose 11 more games than the Tigers. But only 3 games behind the Orioles. And the Royals are 2 games behind the Marlins and need 13 more losses than the Tigers. We’d have to lose 21 more games than the Tigers, it’s impossible in a 60 game schedule. Which means the teams that drafted behind us (Mariners, Pirates, Padres, Rockies) have no chance and more likely try to field a competitive team. This system still gives the Tigers a huge advantage though and the Blue Jays likely get a 9-12 pick under this system. 2021 doesn’t seem to be an ideal draft class to tank at the top, unless you’re gunning for specifically Kumar Rocker or Jack Leiter. I mean at first glance, it’s very prep position heavy after those two arms. It’s still deep in the later rounds but not nearly as much college talent at the top of the class.
  13. The worst teams should get the highest picks. But if the #1 pick next year is decided by a two month schedule, that’s just asking for bad teams to tank this year. They could even “opt out” their MLB roster and just field org players with players deciding not to play now due to covid. MLB needs to figure out a fair way to do it. Automatically giving the Tigers the no. 1 pick for 2021 is probably not fair and a huge advantage to them. But in this case the Blue Jays also get another 5th overall pick regardless if they win this season. They can also do some type of average on standings between multiple years, or a lottery.
  14. Cavan Biggio also won Eastern League MVP that year, Bichette also had a great season and Vlad was on IL for a month before getting promoted to triple-A.
  15. I’m like one of 3 people that went out and bought a Blue Jays spring training hat.
  16. Happy Canada Day everyone! That’s Adam Kloffenstein on the right, he’s a massive human being.
