  1. Kept the gimmick going for nearly a dozen posts. I'm proud of you guys and happy to a member of this community.
  2. I ran into my first serious Pokemon GO players at dinner with my sister last night. We were on a restaurant patio and saw this couple go by and we asked them if they were playing Pokemon. Then we laughed when they said yes. I think they thought we were laughing at them, even though we weren't (but kinda were).
  3. Unless Texas have a similar extension on the table, it was still pretty stupid. He could be making the big time cash already.
  4. Twins are going to roll over this weekend, aren't they? What a useless team.
  5. Manfred said he liked some of these. Why toss ideas like this out that almost surely turn the game on its side? Not inspiring, tbh. This is all over a net of 15 minutes of downtime through the game, which other solutions fix.
  6. If you're limiting RP changes then it's only fair to ban pinch hitters in an inning in which there is a pitching change. What about an offensive mercy rule for the reliever who can't come out? Unbelievably terrible ideas. Completely compromises the game, and all because of a few pauses in the game? Because games are 10-15 minutes longer than they used to be? Just enforce the timing rules that are in place. Use roboumps to get calls right. People are willing to sit through the drudgery of NFL games but a challenge call or a visit to the mound in a baseball game is unendurable?
  7. Overheard Kay saying "ya gotta go with your vet there". Yeah, stick with the tired old guy who is facing a demonstrable disadvantage in arguably the game's most crucial moment to that point. 3/4 is pretty damned good though. I didn't think New York would muster more than a single win, so they definitely deserve a box of chocolates for this series.

  9. Not necessarily true. He could get more DH time while re-acclimating himself to RF in the minors. I do think they'll start to put him into RF more than they should, though. It really comes down to which role player Gibby thinks should see more time: Smoak or Zeke. If Smoak, Bautista goes to RF. If Zeke, Jose can DH and EE can play 1B. I have a feeling more nods will go to the first arrangement, though.
  10. Edwin and Tulo were both having weak years until they weren't. Better to trust the elite bats come through then concoct some other lineup to make things work. I'll take half a Bautista over Junior Lake, tbh. If he's healthy, he should be on the team.
  11. Breaking rumor: The Toronto Blue Jays and Buffalo Bisons are nearing a straight swap of Junior Lake and Jose Bautista. If this goes through, it will add yet another elite bat to one of the strongest lineups in the majors. Details coming Monday. Analysis: Any team would bend over backwards to acquire Bautista for such a price, but the Blue Jays adding the elite slugger to their already punishing lineup makes them a legitimate division and championship contender.
  12. Since we are again without Blue Jays baseball, why not start a new tradition as the playoff race warms up? This one is for anyone checking out the BAL @ NYY and MIN @ BOS games. Both will be televised on good old vanilla Sportsnet. I don't think any of us have any illusions about how the latter game will turn out, but you can "discuss" it here anyway. Also the O's are looking to avoid a four-game sweep in Yankee Stadium, which would could make it the second devastating four-gamer conceded by the O's in the last month (remember that they got totally punked in Seattle back at the beginning of this month). As of this morning, the AL EAST Standings are as follows: BOS - 1st place BAL - .5 GB TOR - 1 GB NYY - 6 GB ---- http://content.sportslogos.net/logos/53/52/thumbs/lalqok5u1hvc8e6s42cwge1rv.gif @ http://content.sportslogos.net/logos/53/68/thumbs/1261.gif Lineups: O's: Reimold, LF Schoop, 2B Machado, 3B Trumbo, DH Davis, 1B Hardy, SS Flaherty, RF Joseph, C Borbon, CF Yanks: Gardner, LF Ellsbury, CF Beltran, RF McCann, C Teixeira, 1B Gregorius, SS Rodriguez, DH Castro, 2B Torreyes, 3B Starters: Chris Tillman v CC Sabathia From MLB.com: • Orioles manager Buck Showalter missed Wednesday's game with the flu, but he is expected to return Thursday. Manny Machado and Chris Davis also sat out Wednesday with illness. Davis, who missed three games, is expected to return Thursday, while the club will determine before the game whether Machado can return to action. • Thursday is Sabathia's 36th birthday. He's the first Yankees pitcher to start on his birthday since Chris Capuano on Aug. 19, 2014. Capuano allowed four earned runs over 5 1/3 innings against Houston. • Alex Rodriguez has had great success against Tillman in his career. In 19 at-bats, he has five homers and 10 RBIs to go along with a .368/.435/1.158 slash line. ---- http://content.sportslogos.net/logos/53/65/thumbs/6p5w6f83sv3og2h11g51.gif @ http://content.sportslogos.net/logos/53/53/thumbs/2909.gif Lineups: TBD Starters: Tyler Duffey v Steven Wright From MLB.com: • The Twins have won five of their last seven road games, with each of the losses coming by just one run. Despite their recent run of success away from Target Field, the Twins are still 14-31 on the road this season. • Boston took two of three games from Minnesota in early June. The Sox outscored the Twins, 27-12, in that series. • Wright is 1-0 with a 2.03 and 1.13 WHIP in two career starts against the Twins, while Duffey's loss earlier this season was his only career start against the Sox. • Red Sox first baseman Hanley Ramirez comes into the series on fire. He hit three home runs and tallied six RBIs in Wednesday's game against the Giants. Both were career highs.
  13. This game is very loseable as long as he does this. I prefer watching Dickey at this point.

  15. He's right. This is basically just me asking why Travis seems to aim exclusively at right field. I could be wrong though.
  16. That was an oopsie though. Hardly an attempt to crush the ball. He was fooled and stretched to defend the plate. The last legit one I can think of is the blast off Koji. He seems to exclusively hit behind the pitch, or am I wrong?
  17. Stroman forgets to cover there, punches his tiny glove after.
  18. Jays going with a RH-heavy lineup to take advantage of extreme reverse splits?
  19. Bautista - DH Saunders - DH Pillar - roving OF
  20. I'd argue if it wasn't that throw it would have been the next cannon attempt. Seems like it was inevitable.
  21. One can never have enough injury depth. Plus, the org kind of owes him nothing and doesn't really have to justify being stingy with a promotion. September bench bat is A-OK in my view.
