  1. Also 21-25. I'm not writing them off, but they've been trending down. The reactions of people in our own GDTs would make you think the Blue Jays are the ones trending down. But this is only the case for the formerly first place team who is now 4.0 games behind the Blue Jays (who are one of the AL's best records since the ASB).
  2. Good game outside of the botched inning in the 3rd, which I think soured the mood of almost everyone watching. Remember, guys, it could have been worse. You could have been cheering for the third place team who only put up a single unearned run before a meaningless ninth.
  3. Not sure how much I like leaving a shaky Sanchez in there like this.
  4. Should pitchers stop being goalies? A) injuries, and good chance of the ball deflecting into who knows where.
  5. This ump doesn't even have the "I have been calling that all day" excuse. He's straight up changing the rules of the game in the fourth inning. Just brutal.
  6. Shitbag Gallardo with a horseshoe, wow.
  7. But "closing his eyes and swinging" still gets Smoak more professional results than whatever Navarro's been doing this year.
  8. Little is not nothing though. The batting order generally has little effect too. The concern is playing sub-optimally and for seemingly no reason (health, etc.). Every AB counts.
  9. If we'd had Navarro all year and the team re-acquired Smoak in the same way, we'd all be throwing confetti for at least getting a league average bat and glove in the lineup. I know the cop hat and cigar pic is meme-worthy, but are people just not looking at Navarro's numbers this year?
  10. This is going to be the last game I see for about two weeks. I might be able to catch the Friday game at the airport, but my flight is at 10.
  11. Navarro DHing is absurd. At least having Smoak at 1B means he might be able to pop one and play capable defense. But instead a terrible hitter (and back-up catcher) is going to be in the lineup at the cost of OF defense by forcing Bautista into RF.
  12. Standings are back to where they were going into yesterday. Status quo is A-OK for first place teams sometimes.
  13. Leon watches three strikes go by. Rays hold on. Orioles gain a game on the division. Not a good night, but not the worst it could have been either.
  14. Grilli wasn't going to be perfect all year. Shite happens.
  15. No Schultz please. He's always good for a deep fly ball.
  16. That's the rule I suggested. Glad it's gaining traction. Someone send it up the ladder.
  17. Holy s*** you guys. I was going to make breakfast-dinner tonight, but now I'm heading to Pizzaiolo. Pics incoming.
  18. I'd say that's without a doubt the best 9 the Jays have put on a field together in a long, long time. I'm not a fan of #9 Travis, but everyone is probably in the best possible position to succeed given health concerns. Is there a reason why Alvarez is hitting #2 for Baltimore? Is there a matchup excuse v Happ or is this just a case of using any warm body there because of a stubborn refusal to use the best guy (Machado)?
  19. Did Estrada really get luckier than most SPs in a given start? Though I'll admit he benefited from the wide strikezone as much as Miley did. I thought Estrada looked like an okay version of himself but I wasn't entirely locked in to the game until late.
