  1. I switch on the TV to see 2 on, none out and within seconds the inning is over. I mean that's basically been the MO for the last month, but still surprising.
  2. Nailed it. The guys are beat up, yes, but with exception of the unfortunate lefty-facing lineups, a lot of our guys are playing and not performing and it's been like this for a month. Things are compounding now and poor play continues. Here are the last 30 games: Vs STL: 3-1 W, 5-0 L, 5-0 L (11-3 STL) Vs MIN: 5-4 W, 4-0 L, 7-2 L (15-6 MIN) @ BAL: 4-2 L, 4-0 W, 3-2 L, 5-2 W (13-9 Jays in 4 games) @ NYY: 3-1 L, 7-3 L, 6-4 L (16-8 NYY) @ CIN: 14-9 W, 11-1 L, 4-3 L (24-18 CIN) That's 48 runs in 16 games from our previously lauded offense with a 14-run outlier. 34 in 15 without it. A slump, in other words. They happen. But after that, things get crazy and injuries start happening, including no Bautista for two series and the intro of the lefty-facing disaster lineup: Vs NYY: 8-3 W, 7-6 W, 5-3 L (18-12 Jays) Vs CWS: 7-0 W, 5-4 L, 4-3 L, 4-0 L (14-13 Jays in 4 games) Vs MIL: 4-1 W, 7-4 W (11-5 Jays) Thr NYY series looks like things are turning around. Two of the losses vs CWS were fallen-short comebacks on a silver platter. Particularly dejecting, lots of squandered opportunities. The Milwaukee series offers some hope, though the offense was poor. The exciting walk-off in game 2 saves face (I was there!) After that, things get really bad, including losing Edwin: @OAK: 4-1 L, 1-0 L, 5-1 L, 4-2 L (14-4 OAK in 4 games) Then last night's game. That's generally how this month has gone. The injuries following a slump are devastating as they seem to compound everything. The going is very tough, but our guys need to start doing their jobs.
  3. How are f***s measured? I just want to know because there is clearly less than one whole f*** being given by this team, but I can't be sure of the exact amount. .89 L? 14 oz?
  4. If this team is filled with so many mental midgets that the prospect of going from second seed in the AL to below .500 in just over one month's time isn't enough to spark them, nothing can save them. See the ball, f***ing hit the ball. Catch the ball, f***ing throw the ball. That's it.
  5. I'm arguing the decline started before the slew of injuries kicked in, but what team has the depth to almost literally replace the whole starting nine? Depth is very important, though, I don't dispute that.
  6. The "stars" are the ones letting us down. 9-19 since the bats went dead vs STL. The stars should have pulled this team out of the mud, but nothing of the sort has happened. It's just compounded.
  7. What does "panicking" even entail in this sense? And why is panic ever a sensible reaction to anything? It is literally the most senseless thing to ask someone.
  8. Everyone was. This last stretch looks like April of last year.
  9. Being millionaires doesn't erase the devastation of a TJS on an individual. He's overpaid, not a robot.
  10. Every time Wilner mentions the team being "only" x games out I want to throttle him. That reasoning only works if the team is fighting tooth and nail. Following up 20-4 with 9-20 is... nothing short of a disaster. There's no reason it had to happen either. The injuries didn't start piling until recently.
  11. I have no idea why managers think the 2-hole scrub tactic works. Like it's not just going to result in automatic outs. My only rationale is to spread out the scrubs a bit. The 6-9 blackhole that was going on for the WS and A's series was indefensible. At least this way the opposing pitchers don't get to turn on cruise control after they get the fifth hitter.
  12. Literally the most dejecting series of the year. The Jays had absolutely nothing going on in any of the games. Worse than even the White Sox series.
  13. This could get extremely ugly. Someone needs to tell the team this isn't the Superbowl and they aren't the Denver Broncos.
  14. Davidi just tweeted the probables against the Jays going into the Break: Weaver, Skaggs, Wilson, Archer, Price, Odorizzi.
  15. Is this team real life right now? Mistakes literally everywhere.
  16. I dig your optimism.
  17. I entirely agree with you. Though I think something needs to be done roster-wise, and soon, getting out of this swoon depends on our top 4 stringing hits together.
  18. The naysayers' argument is usually to expect failure because of the lack of success in the last two decades. That's a fallacy and those people are morons. That said, this team needs to play better. Being 38-24 in early June and potentially hitting .500 at the All-Star break is pathetic. It's one thing to lose first place, since competitor success is not controllable, but it's another thing to let yourself sink back to the pack after building a comfortable record.
  19. Hey, for the time being the Jays are back in a tie for first. Every loss for our competitors matters. The Jays aren't so hot right now, but we're scoreboard watching in July and that's... huge.
  20. Something needs to happen. If the team end up below .500 at any point this season it will be embarrassing. Not even because i think all hot streaks should go till the end of the season, but because the division is so wide open not taking the extra step is just... ugh. The lefty lineup is awful to the point that I'd rather see Lind and Rasmus out there instead of guys who literally cannot hit regardless of the advantage
