I can't speak to meltdowns, but yes, Buehrle needs to keep it together in that situation. The error is irrelevant after it happens - it in no way affects the pitches that need to be thrown. All that matters is two on, two out.
If the catcher sets up a bit outside and reaches in to receive it, that pitch seems like a strike every time. Doubly so if the pitcher is a lefty.
On the bright side, Casey gets that call routinely.
The ninth innings of the last two games are the reason why they won't get a WS. Last night must have been the third time this year Rotoworld tweeted "Ausmus to stick with Nathan as closer", which must be absolutely infuriating for Tigers fans.
No way. All Reyes did was give allow first and second with no outs. Buehrle didn't have to start giving up liners after that.
Posters around here jump on RA for his seeming tendency to implode once things go a bit sideways, but this time it's all Reyes' fault because...?
(The answer is that it's easy to dogpile a guy who has invited dogpiling before.)
The offense has been three important men down since beginning of July. It's kind of amazing they're still in striking distance of the WC, all things considered.
Okay...?
Good for Alex then because he made no trades? Is this supposed to be a criticism of Oakland, like trading guys is inherently bad?
EDIT: Nevermind. Didn't notice the Fake Wilner. I leave my post intact for everyone to ridicule.
Yeah, I doubt this happens. If it does, it's no wonder all his moves come from scrounging the scrap heap, but I doubt it's how a major league GM operates with his peers I don't care how incompetent you think he is.
Implication: Alex can't negotiate. Was literally every team coming to the table with Stroman, Sanchez, or no deal? This "it would have cost too much" reasoning has been used a lot.
It's more like sitting in the nosebleeds to see your favourite band play. It's a just-being-there thing even though for all you know it's just dudes in wigs holding instruments down there.
The players generally don't DL themselves; that's done by their bosses who want to protect their investments and not further injure an asset because of #hustleandheart. Docking their pay wouldn't make anyone less injured because even though they earn millions they aren't superhuman. In fact, docking their pay would probably cause more injuries as guys would force themselves to play through injury in order to not lose their paycheck. And normal people are able to work through injuries more than athletes because most professions aren't physical sports. Try swinging a bat and sliding all over a field with a tweaked oblique and report back.
The Tigers are the spoiled rich kid *******s of MLB. There are teams who would ritual sacrifice their backup infielders to have that rotation, but there the Tigers sit like a privileged Bieber crying into money because they don't have enough room on their new yacht to hold all three raves.
