  1. This season makes me realize how little I respect the Tigers.
  2. I'm going to do what I hate that others do, but I'm going to pretend to be a psychic. Does a talented RP like Casey want to stay with an organization that seems dead set on getting blood from the stone that is the current Jay roster without committing more to it? I'm not saying he's right, but Casey piping up in the media about not getting reinforcements says to me that while he might want to stay, he's probably already mentally noted that he doesn't want to waste his career playing for a corporation who doesn't share his goals to the fullest (winning). Casey's been here through two regimes and two "contending" cores (Wells-Rios-Doc-Hill and now Jose-Edwin-Lawrie-Reyes). Any employee in Casey's sitation who isn't disgruntled with his bosses is probably not in it for championships.
  3. I wouldn't want him going up against lefties and righties willy nilly either, but assuming no moves get made to bolster the 'pen (a reasonable assumption considering the last twelve months) and Casey leaves, there aren't many options left that I think the FO will consider. The power righties in the org are all gascans and there's almost nothing more frustrating than a contract closer gascan. That said, I'm just spouting conjecture on management thinking. I agree with you, burl.
  4. Assuming Casey walks, I think AA goes with Loup as a closer. This depends on who he can pick up off the market, though. I do think Loup is a realistic consideration for the Jays' FO though (not necessarily one I endorse, but cheapskates will cheapskate).
  5. Despite being the Comedy Central champs a few years running, the Tigers have been underachievers in the regular season and this year is no different. They're good enough to make the playoffs, but that's because of their mediocre-at-best competition. Their bullpen have thrown away so many regular season games for them (I'd like to see the numbers on that, actually, but that's my perception) and this year their offense has been pretty beat up to compound the issue. Imagine if they'd hung on to Fielder - yeesh. They could very easily finish the season as the third-best division winner despite having a rotation consisting of David f***ing Price, Max f***ing Scherzer, Justin f***ing Verlander, and Anibal f***ing Sanchez. Pathetic.
  6. Lower back tightness is what's being reported. Sounds like a dead bench spot for the next week.
  7. Davis is brutal this year. The Cruz signing is a season saver they had no way of predicting.
  8. Buehrle throwing pitches away like peanut shells. And then a double, ugh.
  9. That Xbox commercial is the stupidest commercial they have in rotation right now.
  10. Colby picked a bad year to have an awful season. The team could really use one of his streaks.
  11. Dodged a bullet, wow. Come on, Juan, that's two plays that should have been made this inning.
  12. That was the most efficient 3-hit inning I've seen. Let's hope the baseball gods got all of it out of their system.
  13. Agreed. They've been running out a lot of AAAA players since mid-June (way too f***ing long, IMO). They've had some success, as all teams do, but we need the actual Blue Jays to be the guys on the field. The only positive of a 6-4 roadtrip in which 3 losses came to the Astros is that the Jays beat teams breathing down their neck (Boston was catching up, don't forget, and it was the Jays handing them 6 losses in 10 days that put them away.) Also, the AAAstros nearly swept the A's last series - so they're in their own zone right now. I was actually a bit tentative coming into this series having watched a couple of those A's-Astros games. Turns out even the worst teams win about 60 games a year, who knew?
  14. The Astros are an incomplete team with good pieces and the team shows flashes of quality. Just like the current Blue Bisons lineup.
  15. They dug pretty deep to get where they are now with a depleted roster. Here's hoping the off day preps them for the O's. There's an off day, right...?
  16. Several guys spoke out. Yes. A fact. The team playing like they are too frustrated? Speculation. They suck right now in the same way the sucked in that White Sox series. Sucking is sucking and you're just projecting. Also the season isn't over. How any Jays fan can say that with a straight face is ridiculous. Look at what's already happened so far this year.
  17. No, but they don't need to suddenly hit .300. Why does anyone think this? The team just needs major league hitters in its lineup.

  19. I agree, but your post was still projecting and cartoonishly pessimistic.
