  1. You think Martin trying to nab 3rd and home on a wild pitch is more likely than either of those guys getting a hit, or even a sac fly?
  2. ^ Genius here thinks the guys in Blue Jays hats on the field have been avid Blue Jays for 22 years and expect to lose.
  3. It means nothing. Something goes wrong and grown men lose all reason. Blowing a 7-run lead = finding a way to win, valuing pitching and defense.
  4. "Finds ways to win" - you mean giving up a 7-run lead in a single inning? Did you forget that part?
  5. Turned the TV on and turned it right back off. Great job with the pitching, Alex.
  6. I might hit up Burger's Priest for a ridiculous novelty burger. Thanks thread for killing me. Pretty fitting that I'll go out with the Jays at .500 though.
  7. Took the words out of my mouth.
  8. Love how the Jays won this 1-run game by tacking on three runs to make it a no-doubter. Boss managing by Gibbons.

  10. Not that I think Colabello should be in LF at all, but Carrera almost blew yesterday's game in the ninth with his unnecessary long bomb to home plate from shallow foul territory. LF is pretty dire right now.
  11. I was literally about to post that I had a bad feeling about Osuna coming in.
  12. Yeah, about right. Last year was so up and down. A downer of an April, huge bounce back May, mediocre June (with injuries starting to mount), strong July, awful August, solid September (but not solid enough).
  13. No it probably isn't, and it wouldn't prove strong or weak command either (since "command" probably doesn't necessarily equal fewer pitches). Though it might reflect on pitch selection? I'm going down the rabbit hole now. I'm just a little bit surprised to see the company Hutch is keeping on some of his stats given how shaky he's been this season.
  14. Do these stats necessarily prove strong or weak command, though? Surely a pitcher can earn a K even by labouring through his ABs. Are there numbers on pitches/PA? (Not that pitches/PA would prove anything either.) EDIT: Although Hutch has certainly earned more than "a K" this year, so it does indeed show that he gets it done.
  15. Can you even prove this, though? That his fastball command is leading to the higher LD%? One could just as easily argue it leads to more BBs (if indeed he is walking more guys), or that it simply results in more pitches per plate appearance.
  16. Choppy infield single by a swift runner turns into a debate about trading for Jose Reyes in November 2012. The Blue Jays Message Board, folks.
  17. I rarely watch TV much less comedy TV, but Curb is hilarious. My girlfriend has the first season DVD and we've watched it more than once. It's fantastic and totally re-watchable. Sunny was cool for a while, but I find the later seasons are really stretching the premise of four friends being dicks. I liked it a lot better when it was just them being slightly ridiculous, but after like season 3 everyone started becoming really extreme versions of themselves. Kind of like how Homer used to be just an oaf, but eventually became someone totally clued out. Again I only saw a handful of seasons of Philly on DVD, so I don't know how anything past the fifth season fares (or is faring; is it even still on?). Quality doesn't tend to U-turn, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if it just became more and more of what I don't like. A lot of people still swear by it, though.
  18. No kidding. I knew I wasn't the only one who thought that beeline to home plate wasn't necessary.
  19. Royals fans are chuds, but Smoak being fourth is pretty suspect on the Blue Jays faithful. Still, what a joke. f*** democracy.
  20. I figured it'd eventually get to this point. I'll still give him an ovation in his last start for the team. Dude revitalized his career at a point when most guys would probably just throw in the towel, and then went on to have a handful of fantastic seasons and even took home a CY. Pretty cool, IMO. It's not his fault his skills declined in his late-30s and an overeager GM paid out the nose to acquire and hype him through the roof. Dickey might be my favourite Jay who I don't enjoy watching in the slightest. A dubious distinction, yeah, but I think Dickey is a pretty standup guy.
  21. Good job by the ump to follow that whole thing and make the right call.
  22. Literally the only thing I can think of when she comes on the TV: http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc305/The_War_Wagon/makeup-shotgun6.jpg
  23. Not to mention how many people bitch about "1-run games". You know what a 1-run game is? It's that time your stomach is in a knot because a bloop double or seeing-eye single changes the course of the game. Yeah, I'll take a six-run blowout win please. I don't want every game to feel like it's vs. the effing Rays.
  24. W-L is relative to the records of other teams, and every East team (and non-Royals or Astros team) have had comparable results so far. The Blue Jays are one game out of first. This is the exact definition of being in contention.
