  1. I still can't believe the Blue Jays are this far into the postseason. We've had to sit through over 3400 games to get here. Some of you probably weren't even frigging born.
  2. Did he make all three errors in that inning? I admit my memory is a bit clouded right now. Pretty sure Beltre botched that bunt at 3rd.
  3. Should be some promo with the big bats cleaning up the beer cans on the field by smashing them into bullpen and flipping bats. #CleanTogether
  4. Don't want him to do Wiffle ball s***, don't throw wiffle ball.
  5. If I were a Rangers fan I'd be vomiting right now. Another epic, epic choke to add to a decade of epic chokes.
  6. I'm a little bit worried. My girlfriend and bro in law are taking the train from Union after this.
  7. I am both at work and eating. I'm going to try to bail early if possible. Pray4wok.
  8. Too gross? It's fake blood FWIW. Sorry.
  9. Me, IRL: http://tse2.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.M8d048d652b12b00f54060eccf9dd2a1eo0&pid=15.1 (from L to R: me, my sister, my cousin)
  10. Honestly I just don't like lying or skipping out on s*** I'm responsible for. Especially in an instance this transparent.
  11. I did give myself a rather painful paper cut this afternoon. I winced and clenched my hand. When I opened it up I expected to see this: http://img00.deviantart.net/d614/i/2006/066/d/f/bloody_hand___2006_by_bird26.jpg But it was more like this:
  12. It's absolutely not that important. But the bosses will have a different view and will think that I put a lot of business on the line because I wanted to see a sporting event, and they'll be right.
  13. I could have arranged them but doing it for today would have been one-day's notice and I already took half a vacation day last week for game 1. What's worse? My uncle offered me two tickets to tomorrow. Maybe I just don't go in. Maybe I don't go in at all...
  14. I'm at work too. I'll probably running to the bar across the street to see the last third of the game at quittin' time.
  15. Any more nerve wracking than it's been since Saturday? It's been do-or-die for like five days now. Completing the comeback would be super sweet, though. Like sugar-coated sugar.
  16. Wild. Of all the teams to get ousted first, it's the Cardinals.
  17. His interest columns are about as worth reading as any other writer's, I think. Rosenthal gets points for me because his off season scoops are usually reasonably reported. Lots of other guys seem to just puke out every rumour; Rosenthal always seems to be a bit more careful (or at least that's my take). I don't often roll my eyes when a Rosenthal scoop pops up on my Twitter feed, basically.
  18. Most baseball writers are only worth reading in the off-season, and only because they're a good source of news. During the season, it's mostly narratives surrounding the game rather than the game itself. First half: Who should be an all-star? Second half: Who should be MVP/Cy Young? Postseason: Who will re-sign and which scandals will prevent teams from signing certain players? It's all unreadable to me, to be honest. I've just found Rosenthal to be one of the most palatable in general.
  19. The thing is that a Game 1 starter doesn't get normal rest in the ALDS. He either goes short or long (with long meaning the second starter doesn't pitch at all). I don't think Price resents this. As for the 11-day layoff, I'm reasonably certain Price probably had a say in that. Kind of a silly conclusion to jump to by Rosenthal, that Price would turn down a huge contract because of scheduling quirks from the previous season.
  20. Rangers fans probably filling their Texas-sized diapers about game 5. We've been living with the prospect of elimination since Friday, so Wednesday will be no different. That said, the game will basically be a toss up. A Stroman v. Hamels match up will come down to who makes the more costly mistakes. Also I'll be lucky to catch the 9th inning when I get home. Thanks, Major League Baseball.
  21. Rule 6.05(m): A batter is out when -- A preceding runner shall, in the umpire’s judgment, intentionally interfere with a fielder who is attempting to catch a thrown ball or to throw a ball in an attempt to complete any play: Rule 6.05(m) Comment: The objective of this rule is to penalize the offensive team for deliberate, unwarranted, unsportsmanlike action by the runner in leaving the baseline for the obvious purpose of crashing the pivot man on a double play, rather than trying to reach the base. Obviously this is an umpire’s judgment play. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/official_rules/batter_6.jsp
  22. I agree with all of that, except that I interpret Utley's slide as way past the vague definition of 'breaking up the DP'.
