  1. I am a greedy person and expect everyone to be equally greedy, give me a break. Moar money, always moar.
  2. Chavez talking about being open to multiple roles. A good soldier, but you know it burns him to be relegated to 6th inning duty. Going to hurt his ability to demand more cash in offseason 2016-17. edit: talking about his tattoos now. Chavez sounds like a pretty cool guy.
  3. This was before. But you're right. I'm going to back to the hard G, just like me.
  4. I've been peer pressured into "jif" but before that I was a staunch "gif" man. Let's start the revolution. #nowweretwo
  5. Has Sanchez at any point this spring faced a legit MLB lineup, even for once or twice through the lineup? Genuine question. I'm sincerely hoping that whatever worked for him in ST holds up over the season but I have a tingling in my cockles that a rude awakening is coming.
  6. Siddall talking about Biagini as a future starting option? Realistic? Haven't seen the guy whatsoever.
  7. Is it Barker? I'm not listening but I find that he tends to miss Wilner's points sometimes or is generally a day or two behind the news.
  8. Eh. I enjoyed 2014 on the whole. Probably in the minority there, but my standards weren't very high after 2011-2013.
  9. Remember when he got hurt after his first AB of the season? I think it was 2014.
  10. I'm down with this. No reason the set up can't be altered later. I'm still pretty skeptical of Sanchez but I have no problem being unbiased for a few April starts.
  11. This lineup is absolutely crazy. Edwin hasn't even played this Spring and the lineup without him is still terrifying. EDIT: And Saunders with a huge double. Dude should be leading off. Gibby christened Pillar with the job without even giving open try outs a fair shake. It's painfully obvious the decision was based on nothing but perception.
  12. Sounds like Saunders just beat out an infield single. Not that he didn't appear healthy before, but this is good.
  13. I'm confident Gibby will pull the plug if it gets too bloody too. He seems fairly adaptable when it comes to the batting order.
  14. Okay so this post makes me look weird. I didn't realize the contract was for two years, which would cover the conditions of the original rolling contract for those years. For some reason when I read things like "through 2017" I think it sounds far in the future. Derp. http://www.thedailycrate.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/bttf_11.gif
  15. I just think the fewer times your boss needs to exercise an option on your contract, the better. The conditions of renewal are a bit of a tie to the FO's hands. They'd probably be more likely to ditch Gibby under AA's arrangement, if only to get out of it (otherwise they wouldn't have asked to re-structure to something conventional).
  16. There's probably an element of "job security" in there too. The rolling contract made Gibby a target each December and I wouldn't be surprised if seeing a new regime set up shop above his head made him sweat. He rightfully assumed Shapiro and Atkins wouldn't care for having their hands tied every January 1st on this sort of staffing decision. I knew this FO would find a way to slink out of AA's silly deal with Gibby. I'm glad it didn't end up with just cutting him loose. I know some here hate him, but I think he's probably a pretty decent tactical manager compared to most other guys in MLB manager roles.
  17. I have never actually seen Venditte before. This is crazy, haha
  18. Where did this narrative of whiny Pillar come from? I think demoting him from 1- to 8-hitter is a morale hit at this point, but surely he wasn't offered the gig for simply whining? Saunders, Martin, anyone else if the big four absolutely can't/refuse. But if Pillar is really a severe BABIP victim then I guess that cheers me up a bit. I still don't see why he's more deserving over other guys though.
  19. Is he particularly good at putting the ball in play? I see a lot of reaching when he hits. I'd even settle for a lineup platoon. Saunders leading off vs. RHP and Pillar 8th or something. If Pillar must lead off at all, give him only the lefties to do it.
  20. All the best, buddy. Keep your head up.
  21. I was going to say this too, but I think I'd lay it on the org who couldn't conceive of a better option. It shouldn't be on Dickey, but there's an argument to be made that the team's conception of Dickey has cost. Something like Dickey Actual vs Dickey as Used.
  22. I haven't liked Dickey since 2014. And I'm still in awe that a coaching staff/FO (one that's seen turnover, no less) still believes Thole is some snowflake with a unique talent for catching Dickey. No, he learned just like anyone else could have. Russell f***ing did it, and so could any other major league catcher.
  23. How many catchers have been frozen out of the organization because of Dickey's sidekick now?
