    Basically. There was no reason to give him the spot so Ceciliani could "play everyday" or whatever rationale people were giving for keeping the better performer in the MiL.

    Game's nine innings long and after 8.2 the Blue Jays were up 4-3, except Bautista's slide f***ed it all up on replay. He kinda is directly the reason for the loss. He literally cheated, voluntarily or not.

    What other penalty could you use except for the only thing at stake? Fielder is trying to get the batter-runner, baserunner is trying to protect the batter-runner. Only one punishment, really.

    Jose just trying to deflect because he got busted. He's not stupid. He knows this wasn't about his slide.

    Actually, now that I think of it, this might have something to do with the rule change. Unless I'm mistaken, this sort of play was not video reviewable until the "Utley rule" came out this offseason. Jose didn't break the Utley rule, but the enforcement of the Utley rule screwed him for his breaking of another rule. I don't even think Kevin Cash thought he'd win his appeal on a hand swipe. Was probably just making a last ditch effort to get something for his side, like when managers huff and puff over every play at the plate no matter how clean. Again I'm not sure -- this could have been reviewable before and we've just never seen it used in this way.

    I guess. It definitely wasn't one of those indefensible Coghlan or Utley tackles. He just interfered. Not much of an interference IMO, but rules are rules.

    Did Jose go screaming onto the field? This is a guy who pouts visibly over strike 1. He knows he f***ed up and couldn't even muster the horseshit to be fake outraged about it. Agree. Right call. A pisser, but what's fair is fair.

    Exactly. The rule changed and everyone was made aware. Chestbeating about pussification is both irrelevant and hypocritical. If Utley slide-tackled Tulo and put him on the shelf you bet this board would complain endlessly about not having rules to protect the infielders. "That's how we always did it" is not even an imitation of an excuse. Not to mention that actual grabbing has never been allowed.

    Yeah, because swiping at a guy's foot is noble and sportsmanlike. Jose made the attempt because he didn't think Edwin would be able to beat out the throw. Take any chance at that point that some s*** might stick. Problem is, Edwin actually beat it out and Forsythe flubbed the throw. Totally backfired.
