  1. Hey Andrew, might need to use you for like 7 or 8 innings tonight.
  2. Man picked off in game 7 down by a run must feel like s***.
  3. Especially the ones who skipped a mortgage payment to buy tickets.
  4. uhhh
  5. That's pretty lame.. if you aren't going to hand out candy go out with your kids and make a memory for them.
  6. Nothing wrong with cougars coming door to door.
  7. Ah yes makes sense.
  8. You could be 50 yrs old as long as you have a mask you get candy from this house. Who gives a s*** how old they are don't be crusty.

  12. Went out with the kids, that's the most activity I've seen in years. We've had 42 kids (bought a 45 box of chips + treats)
  13. Not really surprising.. Report: Bautista to turn down qualifying offer from Blue Jays http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/report-bautista-turn-qualifying-offer-blue-jays/
  14. That's a pretty terrible conclusion based on a medical examiner's sense of smell as described by a journalist. I'm pretty sure there are dozens of stories that say he was extremely giving. Young and dumb doesn't mean scumbag.
  15. I'm surprised they nominated someone who is not considered a qualified player by their own stats. I guess it makes sense considering he still accumulated the highest Defensive Runs Saved in CF.
  16. Probably Ryan Goins heh
  17. Wife bought me a 'surprise present' last year when we made the post season. A black Blue Jay t-shirt that says TORONTO WANTS IT MORE. She was so excited to give it to me but then she saw my face of horror and got really pissed at me.
  18. You definitely win the forum award for least contributor and least likeable.
  19. What about guys who play 3B? I'd say Chipper Jones is a pretty solid comparative. I believe his $90MM contract covered ages 29-35 but he still did a 7 WAR season when he was 36. Even late in his career he was still a well above average bat which would have worked more in his favour if his team had a DH option.
  20. Well it's true most big $ deals are regrettable unless they are signing young like A-Rod with the Rangers or Cabrera (his first contract). Beltre did good on his 5yr deal and Cano looks to be back on track with his. I'm not really advocating big contracts, I don't like them but I'm just saying comparing him to most players isn't fair to JD when most are simply not coming off 4 straight ridiculous seasons in a row. I can see him producing more like Beltre than Wells in his late 30s.
  21. Sorry but most of these guys shouldn't even be in the same breath when trying to compare players of the same calibre to JD... just because they had big contracts doesn't mean they were worth the risk to sign.
  22. It's not really fair to say it was only 18MM AAV though when it was the 6th largest MLB contract in history at the time of signing, not to mention it was heavily backloaded. It's hard to say JD would be significantly more of a risk when you factor in the inflation, current cost of elite players, what he'll get on the open market anyway and the expected ROI from the first half of the contract.
  23. The two aren't that comparable though except perhaps age of signing. Wells had 1 great season and got paid handsomely for it. Donaldson has had 4 straight years of > 6.5 fWAR... we're talking one of the best overall players in baseball for 4 years in a row. He might crash & burn in a few years sure but you can't really argue he hasn't had tremendous consistency playing at an elite level and it's much harder to imagine a sudden stark drop off anytime soon compared to wells. Will we regret it down the road having a s*** ton of immovable money tied up? Probably, but if it brings us a championship in the near future then the answer is no we shouldn't regret it.
