    Sign Correa, Evoaldi and one of Conforto/Brantley. Trade Bo for a young/inexpensive starter.

    Ryu goes from our #1 to #5 in 2 years. Don’t know if that means he’s falling off a cliff or the Jays depth is dramatically better. Probably a little of both.

    Donaldson could be a nice bridge to Groshans/Martinez and probably could be had for cheap, assuming Minny wants out of the contract.

    Pearson, Kirk and Groshans/Martinez for Bieber. Forget Ramirez, he’s too close to FA and will be expensive when they need salary room for Vladdy and Bo. Rotation of Berrios, Bieber, Ryu, Manoah (maybe resign Matz?) would be pretty sweet. Re-sign Semien and sign a couple of RP. Easy-peasy.

    I don’t see that happening; another 2/3 from them would be great. As much as I hate any time the Jays lose this month, realistically, if they take 2/3 on each series left (not unreasonable as they play Min, NYY and Bal) they will be in great shape. They could lose 2/3 against TB and still be in line for the wild card. The really just need to take care of NY, and play .500 ball otherwise.

    So he's owed about $363M over the next 11 years, through his age 37 year? Seems about right; the length isn't too long (at least the Mets aren't paying for his age 40 season). While I thought he'd be a good pickup for the Jays, I think the acquisition cost was a bit high, knowing what Lindor would want, and obviously received, for his extension. Good for him, hope he plays well for a really long time. From a Jays perspective, probably best not to lock into a contract like this when Bo and hopefully Vlad will get ones like that too. In context, the Springer contract looks good in comparison. Obviously totally different player, but a good fit for the team, both player wise and contractually.

    Kirk is the future; sign Molina as a stop gap/mentor, while Jansen is prime part of a package for Vasquez.

    Not many appealing options for pitchers next year. I’d rather them sign Bauer this year, because it takes advantage of the cheap production by Bo, Vlad and Biggio, and he is better than any of the options next year. I wouldn’t touch next years free agents outside of Seaver and perhaps Correa. Syndergaard may be nice as well but I’d be concerned about his health on a long term deal.

    Could also mean they've had all the major conversations with Bauer, or other pitching targets (FA or trade), have made an offer and are waiting to see if they accept it or not.

    He mentions wanting to win a World Series with them, but I think he would have a better shot with the Jays. Houston has lost a lot of talent the last couple of years, and don’t seem willing to spend to keep up. You have to wonder how Verlander will pitch after his TJ surgery, they lost Cole and Springer, and will likely lose Correa next year. All the talk for years were about how tanking would lead to sustainable winning, but the Cubs and perhaps the Astros don’t seem to be living up to that, if they aren’t willing to spend. Dodgers and Yankees have sustainable teams, but they also aren’t afraid to pay for them. Hope the Jays are willing to pony up in 4-5 years once Bo and Vladdy start getting expensive.

    That’s a great contract for the team; still gives them lots of flexibility in the second half of it and Springer shouldn’t have a hard time providing value then.

    Depending on how it's structured, I wouldn't be too worried about the 6th year. If it's backloaded, it could be problematic, though. All in all, I'm pumped for this signing!

    They are seriously going after the Dodgers, should make for a good race this year.

    Pretty sure the Cubs went to the playoffs for 6 straight years, and the NLCS at least a couple of times, on top of their World Series win. I would take a run like that, even if it meant 3 or 4 leaner years after. AA had 2 great playoff runs (I count the 2016 run on his watch, as it was basically his team) but had 3 years previously that were terrible, followed by 3 bad years afterwards (granted, that's not all on him, but Shapkins had to rebuild because of what AA did to get to the playoffs). I wouldn't say that's similar to the Cubs.

    So $30M for Springer plus $15M for Ordorizzi, and maybe $12M for Paxton puts them at $135M total payroll. That would be a pretty solid offseason.

    Not the signing I was hoping for today (Springer) but a good one nonetheless.

    Every major free agent is still available, and I'm sure there are trades out there that we don't know about that could happen at any moment. Would have been nice to get Lindor but there are many options available to improve the Jays, and seemingly few bidders. I'd be very surprised if we didn't land one of Bauer/Realmuto/Springer/DJLM.

    Fans tend to forget the Jays didn’t play well for much of 93 either. It was a late season push that got them back to the playoffs. Perhaps something similar would have happened if not for the strike.

    They don’t need to “win” the trade, but the chances of them losing it badly seem a lot higher if they are trading with Tampa, plus they are division rivals so if the Jays mess it up it doubly hurts them.
