  1. I think so too...he's quite confident back there
  2. 4-5 times most weeks and 3-4 other weeks...he's an almost full time catcher but isn't a full time catcher ...at least not now... should be Navarro & Kratz behind the plate, notwithstanding Thole's current BA/OBA...
  3. this is pretty much my opinion. However, if Rasmus is willing to take a more reasonable deal, likely to be coming back next year. My sense is fair market value is not what AA will want to pay Rasmus & will qualify him/let him walk. as an aside, I've been frustrated watching how many balls get over Rasmus' head the past few weeks & left wondering how the heck he didn't get to it...
  4. also, imo, think Gibby has had enough of Happ...when Happ was taken out by Gibby, it seemed to me that was one of the last times Happ would pitch as a blue jay...gibby had the you've nothing for me all season pissed off expression on his face & he's had it with him...
  5. Jonn, I agree he hasn't and doesn't look happy here...did he start right away after coming over? imo, it started the moment he realized the jays felt he was on the 'bubble' as a 5th starter...and he's been in that should we start him or have him be a long man conversation ever since...Happ believes he's earned the right to be a starter and imo, feels there should be no debate about it... any case, I haven't liked his body language, verbiage nor his performance for some time & he needs to go imo.
  6. not sure what it is but really like Kratz as the backup...seems to be a real gamer in addition to his defensive capabilities compared to the other 2...unfortunately, likely he & Getz sent down with Lind/Lawrie are back...Tolleson can play pretty much any position and backup OF...
  7. imo, do not believe Gibby will keep Lawrie out of the lineup on any day, other than an occasional rest day though those would be few and far between...I see more of Lawrie moving over to 2nd some days and other days Francisco out of the line up since there'd be no where to put him...
  8. nice to be on the other end of a blowout for a change. hopefully the momentum continues and jays have a great month of May setting them up for a competitive summer.
  9. with Francisco in the lineup and Lind back, and assuming Francisco remains consistent, this lineup would likely be one of the best 1 through 9. Hopefully Lawrie is ok with playing 2nd against right handers to get Francisco in the lineup...problem with that is Lawrie would essentially be playing 2nd most of the time...could switch back to 3rd post 7th/8th inning taking Francisco out & moving backup utility guy to 2nd for defensive purposes. Issue of course is what will be the impact on defense with Francisco at 3rd... My sense is when Lind comes back, Francisco takes to the bench but Gibby will try to get him as many at bats as possible with Lawrie shifting over to 2nd or Lawrie having a day off...
  10. consistency is what would keep this team from contending for a playoff spot. this team needs to get 5+ games above .500 before I get any hopes up.
  11. imo, no way Sanchez gets moved...the plan is he will be in the jays rotation - if not 2015 then 2016 but any major setbacks.
  12. it's hard to give up an 'asset' whether he has a good year next year or another injury ravaged season... the issue, imo, is Morrow & the Jays need to go their separate ways...sucks when Jays would get little in return in a trade at this point, but sometimes everyone needs a fresh start. next season rotation of Dickey, Buehrle, Hutch, Stroman & a pitcher #5 isn't that bad...especially if they sign a FA innings eating starter... AA needs to reward guys who have performed & while we all believe in patience/2nd chances, they should have run out of patience/chances with Morrow.
  13. If correct, to date, the interdivision games for each team stacks up as follows: Jays = 13 Red Sox = 19 O's = 19 Yanks = 20 Rays = 15
  14. imo, jays should trade Buehrle in that scenario...trade him while his stock is as high as it will probably ever be until he retires...
  15. unless this team seriously underperforms like it did last year, imo, the team won't be blown up...I should clarify, there may be trades of high $$ player(s), but Rogers will, imo, want the front office to spend up to its payroll limit on free agent(s)... imo Rogers wants at worst a mediocre team that 'always has a chance'...the fan base/interest has swelled, Rogers is pushing their corporate strategy & baseball for various reasons is a big part of that....imo, no way Rogers goes for a complete rebuild unless jays have another year similar to the one last year. imo, this team will continue to remain in no man's land, barring the team figuring it all out & getting into the playoffs...
  16. imo, his time has come & gone with the jays...he & the jays need a change... with that said, from an objective standpoint, if the market for Morrow, despite his injury history/inconsistency, is $10m or above, perhaps you do sign him & trade him. Not sure what prospect can be had in return but can't imagine it would be much of one. Team could trade for him during this season (if they think he'll be worth the $10m option) though not sure what incentive they have since a) he's injured & recovery/surgery unknown jays may not pick up the option & could be had for less. On the other hand, if he's on the open market, likely be a # of teams trying to get a team friendly deal. Morrow on the DL for most if not all the season, jays not picking up the $10M/buyout for $1M & Morrow hitting the free agent market is how I see this play out. I'm assuming he wouldn't get $10M per on the open market. A part of me wants to be fine with a San Diego/Josh Johnson type contract but my gut says to break off all ties with him & move forward.
  17. geez, 6 man rotation? best case, Happ pitches 5-6 average innings or he'll be gone by the 3rd or 4th inning with the jays down 5... I only like this if it's 'showcasing' Happ for a trade
  18. keep Francisco on the bench, he's worth a taking a longer look at given what he's done since being called up... bench of: Francisco, Gose, backup utility right handed hitting utility player, and switch Kratz for Thole & you have 2 right handed & 2 left handed bats... otherwise, with 3 LH bats, backup minor league utility player becomes only late inning replacement when opposing lefty gets called in...at that point, with Ryan Goins in the minors where the switch to right bat is automatic, you stick with whatever left handed hitter is at the plate for the jays...
  19. yes to Gose...hopefully he can stick the rest of the year & moving forward Tolleson who? geez
  20. McGowan's earned himself another start or two... Morrow imo is the one also on the hot seat, or the one I want on the hot seat ... whichever falters, if any, in the next start or two is the one I'd want Stroman to replace to see what he can do...
  21. confirms imo how stupid it was for AA to come out & anoint Goins in the off-season...should've just said he'd be competing for the job...instead, anointed him & has basically said he doesn't have confidence in him... that said, it's the right move sending him down here's hoping jays can get above .500 after this series against the royals
  22. imo, Morrow likely has 2 guaranteed starts before there is legitimate internal debate whether to replace his spot in the rotation and probably move him into the bullpen to figure things out...
  23. it is the ridiculous waggle imo... imo, I hope we keep him & not give up on him early...he has the mentality, desire and pedigree to be around a .300 hitter...i say mentality b/c he had it when he came up to the big club but lost it somewhere the next season...started chasing stuff he didn't chase and despite his home runs this year, continues to be late on pitches...and frustrating to watch how many 0-2 counts he gets himself into usually after watching a down the middle fastball called for strike 1...
  24. kgm, I hear ya, but then AA shouldn't have, imo, anointed Goins like he & Gibbons did in the off-season...and then now he complains about his offence not even a month in..really? 5th starter - I can give him a lot of leeway - I'm not going to blame him for not signing certain pitchers for certain $'s and for certain years...I initially blamed AA for the Santana crap...but more information came out & turns out Rogers shut off the tap...and further, looks like jays indeed believed they had a deal only to see Santana wait a day, braves pitchers go down & now he's a Brave.
