  1. Well if you ultimately think of Sanchez as a reliever that trade makes it easier to pull the trigger. Even though the stuff looks great you can't ignore his Minor league numbers and his inability to throw strikes.
  2. I can't really fault him though becasue he is just trying to make money. He does seem a little bit greedy though and I'm sure many are not happy about his writing. Was there any reason why Sportsnet got rid of him?
  3. Exactly. Rogers can do what they want, it is their team. Even though I don't agree with that strategy as I think an extra few million $ right now could make them tens of millions in the next few years.
  4. I love Tim Micallef but him suggesting he would trade Stroman for Lester straight up is terrible. 2 months of Lester for 6 years of Stroman would be awful and not a large enough improvement even in the short term.
  5. I just stopped posting about Rogers not having money because no matter what evidence was brought up there would still be people saying they won't believe it. Its like saying you don't know for sure Ray Rice beat up his fiancee in the elevator even though there is a video of him dragging her unconscious body out by her hair. You can pretty well say because of her being dragged out unconscious that she was beated but untill you see the video you don't know she was.
  6. I don't think so. His value will increase another 15 million or so because of the no draft pick attached. If the Dodgers throw him 6/150 will the Red Sox be able to afford that?
  7. Yeah thats true. I just went Derp there. I think they are going to get a decent prospect back anyways. I just hope he doesn't go to Baltimore or Seattle.
  8. I would be happy with that. Gets him out of the AL and he doesn't start on Wednesday.
  9. Oh 100%. Im sure someone will figure out who that player he was talking about in the article is. Also pretty much gave it that it was Price and Longoria in the weed story.
  10. Really a shame, their work was very well done.
  11. Well cheating happens around the world so it is not suprising in that sense. I'm sure everyone knows a few marriages that have gone sour because of cheating. I still think that this story is much worse than cheating as it involves rape.
  12. The worst part about this is that no one is really going to talk about it even though it is a huge story and would be front of ESPN material had a major news station published it.
  13. I have no doubt that weed is used heavily by players in the MLB. Im sure you would be surprised to know how many athletes in sports (Big 4) use cocaine. And tbh i don't really care about players smoking weed. The rape thing however is terrible and when the NFL suspends Ray Rice for only 2 games it really sheds light on how women are portrayed in sports.
  14. I know its Dirk but interesting and rather disturbing read nonetheless. I didn't really doubt that this happens in terms of clubhouse talk but never thought it would get to that level that is mentioned at the end. http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/86730234/minor-league-baseball-masculine-culture-exploitation?tru=bpXcrl#disqus_thread
  15. Someone posted these earlier: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb...ferral-report/ http://www.torontosun.com/2014/04/05...o-sign-santana http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/story/?id=448624
  16. Tao of Stieb ‏@TaoofStieb 7m Company (not naming names) sends email with subject line "Don't let summer slip away." Fine. Now I'm bummed. I'll buy what you're selling. Not sure what this means, but doesn't sound encouraging.
  17. No one is saying they didn't spend in 2013. They are saying they can't spend money this season and everything that has happened to this point in the season suggest they do not have money to spend.
  18. At least read the link someone provided before writing this. "When the Toronto Blue Jays couldn’t come up with the money to sign Ervin Santana last month, Edwin Encarnacion, Jose Reyes, Jose Bautista, Mark Buehrle and R.A. Dickey stepped up deliver the cash, multiple sources told Sportsnet on Friday." Shi Davidi knows his stuff and said exactly that in the Blue Jays did not have the money to sign him so the players offered to defer salary. Also it was approved by the MLBPA, so there is that. Bottom line, if a club has money to spend they are not going to get players to defer their salary to sign a player. What evidence has there been to suggest the Blue Jays have money to spend?
  19. The only way Santana was going to come here was of players like Reyes and Buerhle deferred some of their salary to next year? That is enough evidence that Rogers did not give them money to spend.
  20. I think BNS is already pretty good with that. He is probably the one that pushed this for Sportsnet.
  21. If the rumours were not true why would AA not come out and say they could add payroll? There has been zero evidence to suggest Rogers will spend more $ on payroll. I mean they had to go around with a f***ing hat and beg the players to defer their salary so they could add Ervin Santana
  22. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/fangraphs-why-dodgers-dont-need-another-ace/ Great news for everyone. Hopefully it will become more mainstream in the Toronto media at least a little bit.
  23. I think you are going to start to see more and more good framers. I believe it is a teachable skill to an extent, like you could make a below average framer into an average one maybe even above average.
  24. http://sports.nationalpost.com/2014/07/28/toronto-blue-jays-ability-to-upgrade-at-trade-deadline-muddled-by-payroll-limitations-roster-makeup/ John Lott comfirming the obvious. Rogers not wanting to add any more $ even if it helped the team make the playoffs. This new CEO must be pretty hard to deal with. The Rogers brand could take a big hit if doesn't make the playoffs because they couldn't add money.
  25. If we send them the best package they will trade him here. Why would they care if he plays here for 2 months when the Red Sox aren't competing? Probably going to take one of our best 3 prospects.
