What do they base the above average pitches on? If he isn't missing bats and his command has been bad are they saying the pitchers are good because of movement? I don't think velo and movement matter much if you aren't getting good results from the pitch.
Perhaps who knows what will happen by then. Vlad likely moves off the position by the sound of it. Maybe they'll sign Machado?
That FA class is stacked beyond belief so the team definitely has a good change in getting an impact FA.
I'd totally be fine with the Jays trading him now then signing him when he becomes a FA. By 2019 the team should be in much better shape and they will have a lot of $ to spend.
Usually when their prospects is when they are best at signing and then once they make it they don't do it much whether it be getting tired of it or getting cocky.
Yeah before he was hurt I though I could see him getting $15M/year on 4-5 years. Obviously his market fell off a cliff but Patterson when he was healthy was a fantastic player. Was the team's best defender.
He must really have bad medicals. Not sure I understand how the Rays would let a pick worth in the $5-10 Million range for less than a $1M. Now they won't get the pick back next year.
Yeah exactly. Maybe the Yankees would give up something good for Smoak too. It sounds like the FO is going to try to win in 2018 though. There is value in keeping the brand strong.
If you eat $ you can probably get a Low A guy with some upside but for the Jays to really build a solid foundation for years to come they are going to need some star prospects.
Yeah its like Cutch last year where you'll be selling low. You would think teams would understand his body of work but no one wants to trade for a player of his skillset if he won't be healthy and its clear that the knee injury is affecting him.
I agree its actually an advantage to the team selling when trading in your own division. One thing for certain is I want to target position players in any trade. That's why a trade with the Cardinals doesn't excite me.
Bench really doesn't matter much come playoff time we've all seen it. A lineup with Russ, George, Adams and Pat(if he can regain his form) is among the best. They won't beat Golden State but no one can so that's why I said 2nd.
Morales contract looks like a complete waste. He's an average to above average hitter who loses all his value with his inability to run/field and is only getting older.
