  1. So Grantland just shut down and laid their writers off via a press release. What a terrible company ESPN is. Lots of smart writers on the market including Jonah Keri, Zach Lowe etc.. http://espnmediazone.com/us/espn-statement-regarding-grantland/
  2. surprised they do this. Watch it get taken off the board because of a whole bunch of money gets put on 1 guy.
  3. Carrasco also added 3 MPH to his fastball so thats pretty misleading.
  4. Sorry but I really can't agree with this assessment. Rogers still is one of the worst owners in Baseball. They have a higher than average payroll because of their market size and theyre making a s*** ton of money so lets not give them credit for that. Its been proven how terrible Ed Rogers and his group are on the baseball side in their dealings last year with DD and KW. Also to spit in the face of AA and offer him a 2 year deal then realize how stupid you look to then only offer a 5 year deal is embarrassing. To then send out a statement saying you offered 5 years for PR reasons is just ridiculous. Lets hope Shapiro can get the Blue Jays to where we all want them to get to but it certainly won't be because of Rogers. What a terrible company.
  5. Yeah thats true. I read it quickly lol.
  6. Wasn't it sexual harassment as well? Pretty bad stuff.
  7. Doesn't justify re-signing him.
  8. Wow Bruce Artur saying that AA turned down AGM, lol wasn't even to be GM. Also offered him a 2 year contract initially. "And Rogers, in the end, either didn’t know, or didn’t care. Don’t believe the venal spin that Anthopoulos rejected the contract unless you include the fact that he rejected a job as an assistant GM, at best. Don’t believe it if someone says he tried to pitch Rogers on reporting directly to the head of the company. Anthopoulos, more than anything, is a loyal soldier. Probably too loyal, in the end. http://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2015/10/29/blue-jays-ownership-responsible-for-this-ridiculous-ending-arthur.html
  9. That trade helped get them to the f***in playoffs lol.
  10. lol how the f*** is DJ a perfect fit in Toronto
  11. I think you need a great negotiator as GM and I'm not sure Lacava or Tinnish fit the profile. That one of AA's strengths which will surely be missed.
  12. Flip side is if he has a bad year you likely won't want to extend him either. Say he has a 5 win season, is the price going to come down a ton in the player's view? He will then be 2 years away from FA and may just want to wait it out as he gets closer and closer to FA.
  13. Yeah you are probably right. I could see him getting $25 million in arb. if he keeps producing though. Inflation is going up a lot.
  14. I don't think its fair to be saying this about AA when you don't know the full story or how the meetings went etc..
  15. Can't see him singing for 8 years at only 160. If he waits it out he probably gets 12-20-30 which would be 62 million for 3 years. As a FA at 33 you have to think his market value would be 30-35 million per season. If he were to sign 5 years he should get at least $150 million. Maybe you offer him 6/150 now and see if he takes it?
  16. Interesting to see Martin a finalist for Catcher. He might have the best chance to win tbh. Pillar kind of gets screwed with KK. DK should win the Pitcher award.
  17. Whoever is hired as GM I hope they have half the work ethic AA had. A lot of the reason why he was so good was because he was able to trade for players who GMs didn't really put them on the market.
  18. in a way, yeah. Most sports teams use it now a days including the Raptors so if you want to look at their pricing that is what you could expect. Personally, I hope they keep it the same because its easy to make money selling off the premium games and then going to all the good games for such a low cost.
  19. Doubt it. Rick Westhead is a great reporter and has broken many stories and included he got the story from multiple Rogers sources. He should of chosen better words than he did but I'm sure there were philosophical differences which included prospects. AA didn't dispute the report either when asked, just said he didn't like the choice of words.
  20. That was not dynamic pricing lol. All weekend games + red sox/yankees games were like 20% more expensive. If you are looking to make money that is not how you do it. A game against Oakland on Friday in April is not worth the same as a Saturday in August vs New York. Dynamic pricing means all games are priced based on the market, supply/demand. So if there are only 10,000 seats left and they are selling quickly the prices will raise.
  21. Read my reply to BTS
  22. Sure but nothing is guaranteed. Reyes looks to be worth negative $40 million. Castro looks to be replacement level. That leaves you Hoffman and Tinico who we might not get a true sense on their value with the Coors effect. You also have to weigh the value it added in the short term much more heavily than the long term value lost, given the Blue Jays goal. If Reyes was still SS theres almost no chance the Blue Jays make the ALCS or even ALDS. His defense was so bad his traditional "WAR" wasn't an accurate reflection of his value.
  23. This is not the case.
  24. Don't like the report how Shapiro disliked the prospects being traded. The Tulo trade was a huge win in surplus value and in hindsight I, as well as many other people would do the David Price trade over and over again. Ben revere was traded for 2 relievers in A ball. Unless you go back to Miami and Mets trades the trades made have been fantastic for the blue jays.
  25. Yup. Its this way with all 29 other teams so Blue Jays fans were getting a massive break with dinosaur Beeston in control. I have season tickets next year so I'm interested to see how it works. A massive overhaul of the system is needed but with so many things to do I wonder if they will keep the current system for next season.
