  1. Yeah this is my stance on it. I feel Stroman is only going to become more valuable and his price will go up. Better to sign him now before before his value even goes higher. Stroman checks off all the boxes of a pitcher you want to extend (great athlete, track record of performance, command, great teammate, elite make up, clean injury history on arm etc..)
  2. Yeah there are much better ways to spend $ than on Chris Davis.
  3. Yeah I read the trade wrong lol.
  4. Chavez has only 1 year at 4.7 Million. If he had 2 years of control left a lot more people would of liked the trade. I would of rather signed Norris for 3-4 Million and said he was the 5th starter. If he s*** the bed you just take him out of the rotation.
  5. I see Davis aging like Josh Hamilton which is not the type of player I want to be signing. IF you are going to spend money on a FA position player just spend it on Heyward please.
  6. JB would still have a ton of value as a DH/1B. There is a good chance that he outperforms EE in the next 3/4 years if he DHs half his games.
  7. Yeah but information costs a ton of money. In terms of Stroman I'd rather lock him into a contract now then pay an extra 20 million 1 year from now when we already have a solid expectation of the pitcher he is. I think he can be even better than he's projected to be which would only cause him to be more expensive. And when you consider Stroman will already be into arbitration at this time next year the chances of him signing a team friendly deal only go down since he will be making more than league min. If Stroman goes out and has a 5 Win season you are looking at a guarantee of 30 million increasing to 50+. All "getting more information" really does is cost more money.
  8. Even if you keep 1 of JB or EE payroll is going to have to be at least $160 million next year to be competitive. I can't see Bautista signing for anything less than 4/80 as a Floor and EE its probably 4/70.
  9. Agree. That was my biggest issue with the trade. Rather just overpay one of those other arms to be fit the same role.
  10. Well Stroman will be a Super 2 and will already be in his first year of arb. next season so the IP is a bit misleading since he missed almost all of last season. Archer and Holland are the first 2 pitchers that come to mind in terms of around the same service time. Matt Moore signed really early but I think that wasn't even after a full season. I just think the earlier you sign him the more money you save especially with the way pitcher contracts are going.
  11. Red Sox seem to really want to trade Miley or Bucholz. I'd love Miley in Toronto but it'd be tough making any trade with the Red Sox.
  12. If Stroman puts together a 3-4 Win season this year then he likely will cost another $20+ Million. What more information do you need, really? You should know what kind of pitcher Marcus Stroman is by now.
  13. Lowe got 6.5 Million a year from Tigers apparently.
  14. Even though the Jays don't really need another lefty I'd do that easily.
  15. So you can shut the other team down in the 8th inning? They already have a great rotation.
  16. Yeah well look at the SP costs. If he's a 2 Win pitcher he will be well worth the 12 million. I will say I am a bit concerned with the lack of swing and miss last season. He usually gets off to terrible starts before getting better in the 2nd half as well.
  17. Dickey was also signed to the contract after winning the Cy Young.
  18. Lol wasn't that Jeff Sullivan too? One of their better writers.
  19. I think its because Travis is hurt. My guess is Travis is in the post that comes out tomorrow so we should have a better idea when it is released.
  20. Zips hates the Jays SP even more. Though Stroman apparently is really low because of the projected playing time. Funny that Donaldson almost projects to have as much WAR as the entire rotation.
  21. Wasn't it Cincy who asked for Stroman for Cueto?
  22. If they turned down Norris/Hoffman/Pompey they aren't going to take any of these packages people keep posting. Jays just don't seem to have the prospects to make a deal. Even then I can't see Shapiro trading from the farm.
  23. I think the forecasters say it will get down to 70 cents in the new year before rebounding to the 85 cent mark. But obviously no one knows otherwise we would all be rich.
  24. When the Canadian Dollar was 10% higher than the USD the Jays payroll wasn't any higher. Such a large company would hedge anyway. Now if the dollar stays like this for 3+ years it'll make a big difference for sure.
  25. When you compare payroll to the team's market size its still relatively small. Toronto is a top 5 market.
