  1. I heard they have to dig almost 2 feet down through the concrete to build proper drainage and that is the biggest obstacle to putting grass in. But I really have no idea at all what the costs of doing any of that stuff is so I couldn't even guess a dollar figure for that.
  2. Interesting that Hernandez gets 1.25 Million and up to 2 Million total with incentives if he makes the team. Opt out on March 28. Wonder if they'll put him in the bullpen and see if the stuff players a bit better. He's always had a substantial platoon split so might be better in the pen.
  3. The best was "payroll will be going up". Then payroll drops 14 Million in 2015 and actually was a below average payroll to start the season.
  4. Well yeah they aren't going to just take out 10,000 seats and leave them empty lol. I wouldn't agree they would make less money though. Say they cut off the 500 Level outfield seats at the foul poles. You lose 5,000 or whatever the number is of seats but those other 40,000 seats are harder to come by now so you can increase the price. It would be all contingent on the Blue Jays using dynamic ticket pricing as the prices change based on supply and demand.
  5. Not only is there the price compnent but people will be more willing to go to other games since they couldn't get tickets to the game they wanted. Say there are 60 000 people that want to go to a Saturday game but only 45000 seats. Out of those 15000 people that didn't get tickets originally there are going to be some that will choose to go to a different game that isn't usually a sellout. Obviously there are a lot of factors that come into play but from a Blue Jays and Rogers Centre perspective I think most people would agree that less seats would be better.
  6. Interested to see how Lane Thomas does. He was a overslot pick in 2014 I believe and they tried to convert him to 2nd base last year IIRC.
  7. Yeah perhaps I should have worded it better but the end result is still the same:more money.
  8. Im curios to see how they line up the rotation this year. Didn't Estrada pitch the day after Dickey last year? Could be part of the reason he had a great year. Did anyone do a study about the Dickey effect this year? I know Breakingblue did a fantastic one a couple of years ago.
  9. 200 Level outfield seats are awesome. Cupholders and bigger seats as well as shade on the weekend afternoon games.
  10. Does he want to be a reliever though? Not really a depth signing since he won't go to the minors if he doesn't make the team.
  11. Is he fine with being a reliever?
  12. Thats interesting because when I bought my season tickets the seat map looks the exact same with the same amount of seats in each row. It would make sense from the Blue Jays perspective to shrink the number of seats to the low 40,00s as well since it increases demand. Close to 50,000 is way too many seats for a baseball park. Now that the blue jays don't share with the Argos I wonder if they will change the seating directions as well. Like ALM said the baseline seats aren't even facing homeplate.
  13. Is this for all seats? I know they did the 200s last year.
  14. New seats and cupholders on every seat would be a huge upgrade. Also, if they could have a virtual seat map on the website that would be amazing. Blows my mind how in 2015 the club's website for buying tickets is such garbage.
  15. Last year's Jeff Francis?
  16. This is interesting http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/shapiro-blue-jays-feel-like-team-capable-of-winning-world-series/ I wonder if Hurl has the scoop on who it might be?
  17. Apparently grass would cost between $200-400 Million. Makes sense to upgrade other parts of the stadium if the cost is going to be that much since you probably are going to go to move to a different ballpark in 15 years anyway. I'd like to see them take out a whole bunch of the empty suites they have and make a lounge/bar that overlooks the field. Like half the suites sit empty so you might as well do something with them. http://www.nationalpost.com/m/wp/sports/blog.html?b=news.nationalpost.com/sports/mlb/toronto-blue-jays-mark-shapiro-says-grass-at-rogers-centre-is-not-a-top-priority&pubdate=2015-12-17
  18. I think number 1 has to be Spring Training Facility. My guess is RC needs renovations infrastructure wise as its 25 years old. There is probably 200-300 Million of work needed to be done to RC in the next 10 years.
  19. Boras walking a fine line. I think he screwed over Davis wanting a "$200 Million" deal and turning down the $150 million. Perhaps the same thing happens with Chen.
  20. In terms of positive news they accounced the Winter Tour. Toronto, Ottawa and Fredericton http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/tor/fan_forum/winter_tour.jsp
  21. Shapiro definitely has a different MO than Beeston and I like it. Sure RC not having grass sucks but I'd rather the president be straight forward and honest than constantly lying to appease fans. This won't be popular with the majority of fans especially considering the air around the team right now but it is what it is. At least Shapiro is honest and I'll take that over the garbage that Beeston would say year after year.
  22. He was hurt that season. 5 out of the last 6 years he had more than 5.7 WAR, I'll take the over.
  23. Projection for Votto seems really low
  24. GS is so f***in fun to watch.
  25. No racist would be like "I don't like Revere because of his skin colour".
