  1. I think he actually lives there in the offseason.
  2. To be honest thats the happiest I've seen Tulo ever look lol.
  3. Cuz he's the man!
  4. Just look how fortunate we are to have this:
  5. Apparently clubs receive over 100 Million in USD with revenue sharing factored in. The exchange rate talk has an effect but its much smaller than has been talked about. Shapiro is in a tough spot since I'm sure he wants payroll to be higher personally but has to come up with excuses to tell the media why Rogers isn't putting more $ back into major league payroll.
  6. Apparently the Cardinals offer was for higher term (likely 10 years) 200 Million. I'd take the Cubs contract over that one easily considering his age. 2 Opt outs are pretty valuable too.
  7. Agreed. So far away that so much can happen until then. The thing I don't get is whyPassan was tweeting about teams that have little money committed in 2019 as though they will have lots of flexibility to sign multiple players. Almost every team has little to no money committed to players in 2019.
  8. Lol I was going to say that would be crazy and how had I not heard about that. Curry is still crazy though. Dude shoots 9/27 from the field. yet still manages a TS% above 55%.
  9. lol @ including JA Happ in that group. No need to included Donaldson either since he will be a Blue Jays forever..
  10. who did this?
  11. Certainly isn't better than Loup when considering the money. He seems to be able to maintain a low HR/FB rate though.
  12. Before he got hurt he seemed to be pitching pretty well IIRC. If he can limit the walks to a reasonable amount he has huge upside since he gets so many groundballs. Of course that is easier said that done. Who knows, maybe after working out with Stroman at Duke in the offseason he'll be much better.
  13. If Hutchison wins the number 5 job I would assume Sanchez goes to the pen though? Thats more where I was coming from. If Sanchez wins the #5 job in ST I'm fine with that but my guess is they would want Hutch to win it since you could then fill 2 holes on the Major league team instead of 1.
  14. I'm saying contracts aside I would easily take a rotation with Price, Stro, Dickey, Hutch, Chavez over the one with 6 starters in it. Thats really a no brainer even if you like depth? Price is a durable number 1 starter and you would take him over Estrada and Happ any day of the week if it weren't for his contract. Like I said it doesn't work like this since contracts matter.. All I was saying was its a bit too early to say Shapiro has done a great job building depth when there is only 6 starters. There is still lots of the offseason left to fill out the AAA rotation so obviously you can't really judge anything right now.
  15. I assume they will be using him in the bullpen. If he's in a late inning role it will be tough to give him starts when an injury happens since he won't be stretched out.
  16. Any details on the breakdown of the contract? If its frontloaded for the first 3-4 years with the opt out it makes a ton more sense on why he picked the deal.
  17. I'd easily take rotation number 2 (Chavez would be included in this don't forget) if it was simple like that without contracts being included. Shapiro didn't want to commit the years to sign Price which I'm fine with and understand. I just didn't agree with the notion that Shapiro has done a great job building depth in the rotation since there are only 6 viable starters.
  18. Thats why I would of kept Hendriks and let him close. Much easier to then put Sanchez/Osuna in the AAA rotation. IMO Hutch as #5 SP with Hendriks closing and 1 of Sanchez/Osuna in AAA>Chavez as #5 SP, Hutch in AAA and Osuna closing. This also would let you gain an extra year of control with Osuna as well.
  19. Has Shapiro done anything to solve the depth issue though? If Hutch gets the #5 spot really there is only Chavez as SP depth. Outside of that there isn't anyone I'd be confident in giving starts to. I understand there is lots of offseason left so there is lots of time to get SP depth but I don't think we can sit here and say Shapiro has done a great job adding depth to the roster.
  20. Yeah that'd be cool. It'd be sweet if they face each other in the WS this year. Last year you could tell that was the majority of baseball's fans dream matchup.
  21. Random question but does Bieber like the Blue Jays/ever go to games? I know he likes basketball and goes to Raps games.
  22. I do. It'd be cool to be able to witness history like that. I like the Cubs and hope they do well, and since they are in the NL the Jays don't compete against them really. Its not like they are the Red Sox who I can't stand.
  23. I'm really happy that its the Cubs franchise too. Such a historic franchise and its all around great for the game. Really hard not to like the organization from the FO to the coaching staff to the players.
  24. Thats the one I was thinking of. Watt also weighs 100 lbs more though. Still Lawrie to jump that high at under 6 feet is amazing.
  25. JPR is terrible lol. He reminds me of Brian Collagello who always comes on to radio and taking credit for the Raptors. Although maybe TSN pushed him to saying this since its their rival. Haha you never know in this business...
