  1. Not to mention if Wilson makes a good throw its a TD.
  2. I got a framed 20 x 24 sized Photo of Jose Bautista flipping his bat. Also got a couple jerseys and some baseball cards! http://shop.mlb.com/product/index.jsp?productId=80660806&cp=1452370.1452934.703240
  3. Wonder if this means Buehrle is going to retire. I thought he would sign with the Cardinals for like 1/10 leaving both sides very happy.
  4. yes. Beeston was terrible at his job. A full year of great TV ratings, attendance etc.. is worth a lot. Especially if the Jays use dynamic pricing
  5. Also you might run into a problem where the bottom teams would be making some extreme win now moves to try to not be eliminated and in doing so hurts the overall league.
  6. I've heard this a couple of times but I'm not a huge believer in it. Situation A: The Jays are good next year, win the Division and make it back to the ALCS. Situation B: Jays are a .500 team who trade Edwin and Jose at the deadline Situation A probably gives the Blue Jays an extra $75+ Million in revenue which would allow the Blue Jays to have a larger payroll in 2017 and beyond. That will let you be able to sign better players and extending the "window" of contention until the Blue Jays new farm system becomes big league ready. Situation B gives you some nice pieces for the future I'm sure but with that comes a large reduction in payroll and you lose a lot of the fans you gained this past season.
  7. I'd be very surprised if the Cubs or Blue Jays didn't lead MLB in jersey sales last year.
  8. To be fair Shapiro knew the situation coming in and should know the expectations of the fan base. I'm sure he has a thick skin and he seems like he doesn't care how he is portrayed by media types. He knows as much as anyone its not about him its about the players and they will deservedly get the credit when the team wins. He wouldn't have taken the job if he thought it wasn't one of the better jobs in baseball.
  9. And payroll was going to be "significantly down" this year a mere month and a half ago lol
  10. I'd be interested in a spot or co-managing if you guys need someone. I know I haven't been the best poster in the last couple of months but hopefully you guys can look past that and at my overall body of work posting. As for my skill level I haven't been on a baseball league on this board but I've been very successful in the WTP hockey league as well as the football league FWIW. I think I would be pretty competitive in this league and people know I will be active.
  11. Lol well thats what the old turf was like I'm pretty sure.
  12. Most weeks I would have ran the table in Goalie cats but Varlamov had a ridiculous week. 3-0 0.67 GAA and .981 SV% lol.
  13. We haven't really had enough time to see if it works with the new rookie bonus structure in place though. Its worked well for the Astros and Cubs who have done it since 2012. If you have a smart FO I think there is an advantage but there is a reason why teams like the Rockies and Twins are always at the bottom of the standings: bad management.
  14. Its because Canada doesn't get ESPN so they lose all those ratings they would get. If FOX has the Blue Jays on their Saturday broadcast they at least get the ratings if people watch the fox channel in Canada.
  15. I think there is a lot more incentive to do it now than in the past with the bonus pool structure. Houston did a really good job of it as well and I think the Phillies are headed in the right direction. I don't think you ever intentionally want to be bad but there is much more incentive to trade a good/great player on a 70 win team. I agree that it would be stupid for the Blue Jays to do that right now. But for a team like the Orioles, Red or Rockies I think it makes sense.
  16. Damn Cyborg's team had an insane week. I actually had a really good week and I lost 10-1 lol
  17. Wherever they go I'd have to think they would want to move in for 2018 which would mean they would have to come to an agreement by this summer at the latest.
  18. Well considering the population of Ontario is 2 million more than BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba combined I'd say it is. There are more Jays fan per capita in Ontario than the western provinces.
  19. Why can't they build a great facility in Florida, like the Pirates one? Considering most of the fanbase is in Ontario it'd be a lot more difficult logistic wise for fans if it was in Arizona.
  20. Glad to hear it goes back to the players and growing the game. Its a ton of money so they really can do good with it.
  21. Of those 3 points the only one I would be concerned about would be the health of the players. If its just going to be a layer of dirt on top of concrete its going to be even worse than the turf was for the players bodies. That said, if it was going to be worse for the players I don't think Shapiro would plan to put it in.
  22. What does the League even do with all the money from Luxury Tax and overslot bonus pools? There is like over 50 Million every year lol.
  23. Coming into the offseason he was left with a team with a pretty damn good shot at the division title. He also had $30-35 million to spend so its not like the team was capped out. The Jays were in a much better position than the Mariners, Angels, Phillies and Brewers.
  24. Yeah poor Shapiro inherits a 2016 contender with the likes of Donaldson, Tulo, Bautista, Encarnacion, Stroman.. Of all the franchises that had new executives come in (Philly, Seattle, Milwaukee, LAA) Toronto is the best situation, so lets stop with the notion that he inherited some dumpster fire. Not to mention it has the potential to be one of the top markets in MLB if it isn't already. Edit: Forgot about Boston, I'd put them number 1 but the point still stands
