  1. I can't see any team giving him 5 years let alone 100 Million. He's really restricted in the teams he can go to with him being a DH. Boston seems like the best fit and there will probably be a few other teams that pop up but when you combine his age, draft pick comp. and position there just isn't a huge market out there.
  2. Wow this team's defense is amazing.
  3. Tulo! Nice to see
  4. Wind must be blowing straight out, everything is carrying a ton.
  5. I don't even want to lol.
  6. Wasn't trying to compare the players just that you shouldn't make a move based on the fans because what the fans want isn't always what's best for the team.
  7. Nice defensive plays by Tulo and Bautista. So refreshing having a good SS. I couldn't stand watching that piece of concrete Reyes defensively.
  8. I remember reading an article, I'll see if I can find it. Edit: http://www.bluebirdbanter.com/2016/3/10/11192622/how-much-should-the-blue-jays-be-willing-to-pay-edwin-encarnacion He's saying 3/54 which wouldn't get it done.
  9. Wasn't it found that comparable players aged a lot faster than the typical 0.5 WAR/year? Body and injury wise the last 2 years have been pretty rough.
  10. I would agree he isn't worth quite that but he's worth a hell of a lot more than 3/75.
  11. No I'm saying many athletes and celebrities get paid lots of money because of the demand and type of industry they are in.
  12. Yeah I think OF defense should be a big factor. If Cecilliani was Right Handed I think he would win it easily but being LH isn't the greatest fit with Saunders being the one he would take the most playing time away from.
  13. Its not as simple as that though because you always need 2 parties to agree to a deal. If Donaldson was asking for $220 million you aren't just going to give it to him because of the FA of 2 other players. If you start running an organization like that its a recipe for disaster.
  14. I know that is why its stupid to think someone will take less money than they are worth/deserve. Judge Judy made $45 Million last year. Skipp Bayless makes $4-5 Million/year. There are tons of examples of people who get paid a ridiculous amount of money that you or I might think is insane. You know why they get paid that much money? Because millions of viewers watch them and their employers make a ton of money off them, much like baseball players. Don't bring up this BS comparing a president's salary to athletes.
  15. If Lake is on the team to have some sort of a platoon with Saunders then its not so bad and you could make the case he should be on the team. He's been above average vs LHP in his career although the BABIP is a high. His minor league strikeout numbers aren't bad at all either so there is some upside there. My guess is Lake makes the team to start and if he's bad they replace him with Ceciliani.
  16. Tulo, Saunders, Martin. I'd rather Bautista even tbh.
  17. Is this from a fan's perspective or team? My guess is Donaldson asked for too much money otherwise they would have went long term this offseason. Atkins said they looked at signing a long term extension.
  18. That is like me telling you that you should work for 60k/year instead of the 80k/year you are worth and the market pays for someone with your qualifications. Then we will give you a raise in 3 years if you are still productive. People in this world get paid more money for things that require a lot less talent, better get used to it.
  19. You have to do whats best for the team not the fans. People complained about letting Melky Cabrera go and look how that worked out.
  20. Pillar is such a bad fit to hit leadoff. His best skills are putting balls in play and speed which would be much better at the bottom of the order where he will hit with more guys on base and can take advantage of his baserunning.
  21. Has there been a report of the Jays even being interested in Straily or is it just speculation? I think we are jumping the gun by penciling him into the roster right now.
  22. Chris Sale too.
  23. He also said he was hurt the last few years and is feeling much better this year and wants to start. Just because a guy throws few innings the year before doesn't mean he is going to get hurt if his workload increases. The guy you are talking about in Hutch threw 180 innings a year after barely throwing any and did just fine.
  24. Meh that hurts your SP depth though. Since you already have Chavez as the long man, if you make Floyd a reliever you probably can't turn him into a starter again. It sounds like Floyd is pitching pain free which wasn't the case the last few years so I think there is a better chance he stays healthy this year anyways. Even if Hutch deserves to be in the rotation its not the worst thing in the world to have him start in Buffalo.
  25. Delabar also gets a ton of swing and miss and has performed very well in the minors FWIW. Sure he's worth a look as a reliever over the next 2 weeks to see if there is something there but I don't think he should be guaranteed a roster spot.
