  1. As a Jays fan you would hope so because like I said in the last 7 years there really isn't much to show from the draft. At the same time its been open for what 2 years? So you would think some of the prospects would have taken a big step this year and looking at their top 15 guys coming into the season it looks like there has been just as many cases of players regressing as progressing.
  2. The Leafs have one of the best core groups of forwards but there is a lot of holes on the roster still. As it stands they are in more in the top 8-12 teams in the League than the top 5 so the new GM is going to have his work cut out for him.
  3. The Blue Jays have by all accounts one of the very best baseball facilities in Dunedin as well. You would think with those facilities you would be getting the higher percentile outcomes with a lot of the players you are bringing in. So either the Jays have been terrible at drafting or the coaching is really bad.
  4. I mean its not even the GM that selects players its the scouting director. Also who care if you call Bo a success story because of Atkins or not, I was more just saying if you look at the last 7/8 years the Blue Jays have been a poor drafting team especially when you factor in where they were drafting for a lot of those years. It takes a lot of time to overhaul a player development system more than just a couple years but we are in year 8 here and there isn't much to show for it.
  5. Didn't the FO want someone else and there was a scout or someone else in the Org. clamoring for them to draft Bo? I meant they took TJ zeuch before him...
  6. Its not non existent and not as bad as the terrible Orgs. like the Rockies/Royals/Angels but its below average. And this is from a FO who has stressed its importance from the beginning. Its one thing to understand that drafting and developing is important but its another to actually follow through. The division rival Orioles FO came in and did an overhaul 3 years after the Jays FO came in, with way less resources. Its sad to even have to point out that Horowitz is a player development success when describing the Jays FO as he's a dime a dozen 1B.
  7. Bad drafting and developing over the last 7 years catching up with the Jays. For all the talk by Shapiro and co about player development being a massive priority and them neing a sustainable winner, they don't have much to show for it in 7 years. Their player acquisitions have actually been pretty good but they've struggled in the draft. They whiffed on 2 high picks in Martin and Groshans and since 2016 only Manoah has really provided any value out of their first round picks. ?I know first round picks aren't the be all end all, but the below list is pretty bad for a FO that preaches drafting and developing. Not like they've drafted any stars outside the first round either, Bichette withstanding. Zeuch Warmoth Pearson Groshans Manoah Martin Hoglund Barriera Nimmala
  8. Unless you are going with a big group of people you can almost always get a pair of 100 level seats cheaper than cost if you wait until an hour before the game to start and buy on seatgeek. Even the weekend games. And if its during the week in april and may, I've seen seats for $30 lots of times.
  9. Literally ever move he's done has backfired. Not singing Nylander to an extension Bertuzzi although looking a bit better lately hasn't been good Klingberg is a complete write off, maybe the worst defensive player in the league Domi done nothing Gave Reaves a 3 year contract who is completely unplayable at this point.
  10. Panarin who is a winger got 7/11.6 AAV and that was 4 years ago. Plus as a UFA teams won't have to give up anything so should pay his full market value. I think he at least gets 12 on the open market but I could also seem him taking a bit less to stay in Toronto.
  11. Nylander is going to get what 8/96 on the open market this summer? New GM for the leafs has done terrible.
  12. Id be all in favour of JD. Team needs mentally tough guys.
  13. Betts is a future HOF who is 31 and singed long term plus Dodgers have a history of winning plus track record of player development. The Blue Jays haven't even won 1 division title under the current regime.
  14. I guess I should have clarified in I didn't mean it to all be about Bo/Vlad, more so after 2025 when they will be FA (FWIW I think they are better off letting them go to FA than singing them for a market value contracts). The best players/core right now (Gauseman, Springer, Bassit) will be old/declined by then. Of course Kirk, Varsho and Schneider could emerge this season looking like cornerstone pieces and a couple other prospects take big steps but if I'm Ohtani and comparing the Blue Jays outlook to the Dodgers, Orioles, Braves etc.. then they aren't among the top. So it looks like the Jays would have to overpay and from what I've seen this Jays FO doesn't look like the type to overpay based on their evaluations.
  15. The Jays don't look very good after 2025 when Bo and Vladdy become free agents. And while the Jays have a few interesting position player prospects they are a bit short on star level impact.
  16. Atkins needs to be fired. He's terrible with the media where he comes off as a huge phony. Terrible at contract negotiations (Some decent signings over the past few years but at the time a lot of them seem like overpays or at the least are market value). And the farm system hasn't really done anything either and we are in year 7. Shapiro seems like a pretty good President but I would get rid of Atkins.
  17. Sepetember during the week is always one of the worst attended/lowest demand games. Once school is back, people don't want to make the trek to the dome on school nights. Tonight will get more of a bump because of loonie dog night but wednesday won't be any better. If they were playing a team other than Texas it would be even worse, not sure they would even get 20K.
  18. Life has made me to so busy that I just don't have as much time as I used to so barely come on here anymore. I used to live in the same building.
  19. Manoah loves to spend money as well. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes broke in the next couple of years. Last year he was renting a penthouse for almost 15k a month and on a rookie salary not exactly smart.
  20. What are the dimensions of the new Outfield for RC next year? Has it been announced anywhere?
  21. One day a week committment. Plus people watch at family gatherings and in groups so they probably have more exposure to it.
  22. You would then have to sign a RHH OFer if that was the case and probably at more $ than he is getting. Since he can play 2nd base and offers speed off the bench you may as well keep him.
  23. Oh I don't care personally, just thought he would be cheaper. Prolly had to pay more since he's a West Coast guy and if thats what it takes I'm fine with it. If he's healthy hes a great bat.
  24. Would like it a lot more if it was for 5Million but still really like the player. So much depth everywhere now with guys able to play multiple positions that a few IL stints won't hurt the team as much. Lets Vladdy get some rest at DH against RHP too which I think will help. Much more balanced lineup now too with 4 LHH against RHP. Also doesn't hurt he's won a couple world series and is a solid veteren.
  25. Durant is a top 5 player and one of the best scorers in NBA history of course the extra years are valuable. I bet you could trade him in 2 years and still get tons of value in return. Plus with his length he can pretty much score from anywhere he doesn't exactly rely on his athleticsm the way Lebron or Giannas does. Look at Westbrook if you need any evidence of how a guy can be traded for value even in his decline years with a big contract.
