  1. If the chance is to compete in 3 years it makes no sense in trading for Drury who's to FA. The best chance to compete IMO is going to be in 2020-2022. You'll have Bo and Vlad making league min. and hopefully be 5 Win type players as a well as a lot of other prospects starting to make an impact at the MLB level . You'll also have a ton of financial flexibility to get FA with Tulo, Martin etc off the books.
  2. My biggest issue of the trade is the Jays need to build a team that is going to win 95 games to compete with the Yankees and Red Sox. I'd rather take a chance on some high upside prospects than players with the ceiling of being average and a likely below average profile. You already have enough of these utility types like Gurriel, Solarte, Travis, Diaz with Bichette and Vladdy on the way. Also while its fine to prefer position players over pitchers you still need pitching and the Jays system doesn't have much in the way of that. They're going to need to deal some of these position players and prospects for pitching.
  3. Average exit Velocity of 88 MPH would seem to disagree he hits the ball hard.
  4. Yeah this seems like a very disappointing trade. Not much upside.
  5. Feel like we have enough of these utility types who can't really hit. Team is going to need impact talent to compete in the AL East.
  6. No need to extend him. If he was a FA after this season I'm not even sure he gets more than 2/20.
  7. This smells like the Jays FO leaking that the Yankees are close to finalizing a deal to drive up the price from the other teams.
  8. I feel like it doesn't matter with pitching nearly as much. I mean look at guys like Drew Hutchison, Daniel Norris, Matt Boyd etc.. Would bringing those guys up a year later make a difference?
  9. I find it funny Solarte has a translator meanwile his girlfriend and kids speak english.
  10. The sheet isn't working for me.
  11. Ibaka would be an above average backup 5. Honestly at this point in his career that's his best position given his decrease in athleticism. He's a terrible rebounder but still a good defender and 3 point shooter.
  12. Give me a 35% shot at making the Finals and a 15% chance of a championship for one year over 3 straight 50+ win seasons 2nd round playoff exits. You were going to have to rebuild after 2020 anyway so you have a way better chance this year in exchange for a transition year the year after. If by a miracle Kawhi stays then you have a pretty good chance of a FA star after 2020 and continue to be a championship contender. If he leaves then you start the rebuild you were going to have to do regardless.
  13. People are underrating Danny Green too. Honestly with Kawhi on the team he(Green) fits the team better than Derozan. Offensively you can stick him on the perimeter to knock down 3s while Lowry, Kawhi, FVV and Delon play on the ball. Defensively he is way better than Derozan and can guard 3 positions. Derozan's shots get spread around to more efficient scorers while gaining a huge advantage on defense. I haven't been this excited to watch a Raptors season in my life. Add in Nurse calling the shots and I'm really excited to see all the creative lineups.
  14. No way he sits out 2 straight years. There are so many worse places to play than Toronto this year. Basketball wise its one of the top 5 teams in the NBA plus he's out of the Western Conference.
  15. Yeah but short of a career ending injury he's going to be getting paid the max. I don't think the extra year is worth anything since he left $220 Million guaranteed on the table with the Spurs in a place with no state income tax.
  16. The 50 Million is super misleading because its 5/190 vs 4/140. By the time the 4 year contract is up the max would be $40 Million anyway so he really isn't losing much.
  17. If Kawhi is healthy they could probably trade him during the season for a package that's better than what they gave up. SA didn't want picks/young players apparently so have to think Toronto could still get a couple of 1st round picks and a young player. But if Kawhi is healthy you may as well play to go to the finals. This might be the best chance the Raptors win a Championship ever so have to take advantage.
  18. The first is a late 1st which isn't much in the NBA. Even if the Raps somehow bottom out and it is 1-20 it turns into two 2nd rounders. IF healthy Kawai is a top 3 player in the NBA and even if the injury made him worse he's still top 10-15, Derozan is really overrated with how bad defensively he is. The team was capped with how good they would be with DD so may as well swing for the fences and if it doesn't work out they can rebuild around the young core with lots of cap space in 2020.
  19. Wiggins is terrible. Lowry makes a ton of money but is still a very good player. 2 of Lowry/Wright/FVV can play on the floor at the same time with Lowry and FVV off ball shooting.
