    You think Smoak would have gotten 8.5 Million this offseason as a replacement level DH/1B? Just because you have a lot of FA doesn't mean you go waste money just to plug a roster spot.

    If he values a win at that much money why give away money to replacement players like Smoak?

    I mean sure you do what you do and a player's opinion doesn't matter but still EE and JB can pretty much see the writing on the wall if it wasn't already. Still seems like a really stupid deal. Even if you like Justin Smoak, who the hell is giving him a 2 year deal in the offseason?

    Exactly. Edwin has been better defensively than him this season and Smoak will be 30 next year and has a body that doesn't seem like he will age well. I think last year we saw what his potential was and he still was barely above replacement. I thought the 3.9 million for this year was a waste but this just makes it even more weird. Not to mention Bautista and Edwin aren't going to be happy hearing about this.

    lol what a stupid deal. I was hoping he would be benched in favour of having Bautista DH. He's a below average hitter and fielder at 1st base who strikes out a ton. I mean 8.5 Million isn't much but still he's a dime a dozen player who you can get for cheap.

    Wonder if he cleaned up any of his swing. Great that he's mashing now though.

    Agree. His 4 Seam has been a pretty bad pitch for him this year, 2nd worst to only the changeup. Why would you want to throw that more instead of his best pitch?

    His command was the biggest issue not pitch selection or whatever BS some people keep saying. Simply he was falling behind in the count so often so he had to throw his fastball a lot to get back into the count. You aren't going to throw 2-0 sliders for strikes. When he was ahead in the count he used his breaking ball so lets not go all crazy. Whats with the personal attacks on him anyway. Guy has a ton of passion and shows it, you should embrace someone like that. Not be sound like some loser on the Fan590 and say he should play the game the "white way"

    Jays have killed themselves tonight. Martin and Zeke with 2 costs misplays that turn to runs and now this 2 out rally.

    Oakland should just trade him if that is the alternative. What a terrible Org. the As have become. They desperately need to do a rebuild and for some reason have held off.

    Had some run on that inside fastball. Hitters just couldn't lay off it.

    Carerra has actually been pretty good defensively this year so I can't say too much but yeah that play needs to be made. I think he lost it in the lights.

    Wonder if Stroman tweaked his back. He was twisting his back between pitches all inning and velo dropped.

    He was off all night. Point stands if Carrera makes a routine play Blue Jays have a 3 run lead right now.
