  1. Sounds like they could use Ridley Greig. We all know he has a great slapshot.
  2. Even if he has a great year I'm still not sure he's the guy you want to sign long term for a boatload of cash. Who's to say he doesn't get his cash and then turn to Rendon and not try as hard. If he has to be pushed this hard to get into shape, it might be tough convincing him once he already gets paid and doesn't have as much to play for.
  3. He's always been pretty good as far as I can tell. He's got the size, stickwork and wins battles along the boards. Always been a positive player at EV. The Leafs problem is they paying guys like Bertuzzi 5M for providing nothing, Reaves etc.. Teams like Florida, Vegas have 4 capable lines where at the Leafs bottom 6 is atrocious. And now that Taveras had declined even the 2nd line isn't as strong, which is why they are where they are.
  4. I mean to be fair Matthews is a great 2 way player, he's actually really good defensively which he doesn't seem to get much credit for. He's had his playoff duds but the biggest problem is Taveras can't skate anymore and is no longer a #2C and getting paid like a top 10 player. Their bottom 6 is no where near good enough compared to elite teams in the NHL either, and you combine that with bad defense and unproven goaltending and you're left with an above average but not great team.
  5. Looks like baseball isn't a top priority for him, either...
  6. I mean they kind of are just for the fact of how the playoffs system is. They'll have to play Boston or Florida in the 1st round and likely the other of the 2 teams if they make the second round all without home ice. And both of those teams are better than the Leafs... lol
  7. I'm not really sure it would hurt the 1% that much unless there was a max contract per player. The stars would still get paid a lot because of the value they provide, perhaps maybe a little bit less just because the risk tolerance would be lower with injury risks. But the guys it would really hurt would be the older veterans like the Whit Merrifields and the Justin Turners of the world. No one would be giving these guys 1 year 8-13M contracts when they can likely get similar production from a younger, cheaper player. NBA stars are actually underpaid quite a bit because of the max contracts.
  8. This might be just personal bias but it seemed while watching last year that Pearson was super inconsistent appearance to appearance. One inning he would look like an elite reliver blowing high 90s past guys and a wipeout slider, other games he couldn't throw a strike and was more mid 95-96. And the bad games he was really bad.
  9. Not easy for a lot of people. It kind of sucks how in Canada you can't really move to a warmer climate, basically Vancouver would be the only one and it rains all winter. Meanwhile if you were American and lived in upstate NY nothing stops you from going to California/Nevada/Texas/Florida.
  10. Surprised the Jays wouldn't have given him a bit more $, as he would be a decent fit on roster. Perhaps Grichuk wanted to play in AZ though as he lives there in offseason.
  11. Looks like you woke up in the middle of the night after wetting the bed and had to come onto BJMB and.... *piss some more*
  12. I don't think any minor league signing is a bad one really unless the guy is a clubhouse cancer. That said its still fair to say this offseason has been a massive disappointment any its reasonable to suggest Atkins misread the market and jumped the gun signing guys like KK and IKF when it didn't seem like those guys were sought after (not to mention the less than ideal fits on the roster)
  13. I still don't think Matthews gets the Hart trophy if the Leafs finish in the 6-8 range in the East. Voters will want to give it to Mackinnon since he hasn't won it yet and Colorado is having a better season. Kucherov having a great year but gets penalized with Tampa not being great as well. Maybe if Mattews get 75 they give it to him, but the Leafs need to start playing better around him.
  14. Yeah that makes more sense. Even if there is some extra fat in there, not necessarily a bad thing, Sanchez put on a bunch of weight IIRC and did pretty well back in 2016. I was rolling my eyes at the "insert MLB player gaining 25 LBS of muscle" comment.
  15. Unless he's taking steroids no way he gained 19 pounds of muscle lol. For people who already weight train (which I'm sure he did) its much tougher to put on lean muscle mass, so a half pound a week is more what you should aim for. Also 6 month offseason? He finished the AFL in October...
  16. Has to be a minor league deal... If its a guarenteed contract..yuck
  17. I know its so annoying lol. And you hear it every spring....
  18. Don't let him sit anywhere near Vladdy and Manoah in the cafeteria, we don't need them seeing his eating habits.
  19. Yeah no way it's actually 19lbs of "pure muscle" lol. The Body can put on like a half pound of muscle mass per week. But some extra weight might not be a bad thing, if they think it will add durability. Usually more mass= more velocity.
  20. Rather just keep Espinal honestly. He wasn't great last year defensively but was so in his career up to that point, and Espinal himself hits LHP pretty well. He's a better option at 3B vs LHP than IKF is, and he's making less than 3M.
  21. Let’s get an extra tax on pride merch while we are at it!
  22. Yeah but there is a limited amount of money to spend, so that is why people complain. People want the best Jays team possible and if money is spent inefficiently well that hurts the team..
  23. If its a minor league deal its a great signing but I don't get it if its a guarenteed deal. He's old coming off a horrible year, he was decent in 2021/2022 but defensviely he's been bad at 3rd base for a few years now. And he hits LHP a lot better than RHP so can't really see him being better than Schneider/Espinal.
  24. Moving out IKF’s salary is the perfect move if you brought back Chapman. Lol the irony….
  25. Didn't CC Sabathia slim down one offseason and was crap, then went back to being heavy and was good again lol.
