  1. Because we want multiple games with 20 runs this season, that's why.
  2. Why not sign Davis and Heyward, trade Revere for pitching and add a couple ground ball type pitchers that could be bargain contracts like Anderson. That way you'll have replacement EE and Jose after this year, while having EE and Jose so you can go all out this season.
  3. Berkman - "Christian" that advocates things that are an exact contradiction of things that are Christian. Just like most American "Christians".
  4. Somewhere +/- 1.0 WAR. Probably somewhere like 0.8 to 1.2.
  5. If the Jays season goes like the last 22, probably will only get 12-14K fans in August/Sept, possibly less if they decide to sell on Jose/EE.
  6. I fully expect the same half measures that the Jays have done for the past 22 years. Good enough to not be terrible, not good enough to actually do anything. They realistically need only 3 pieces to be ready to go and they only have the budget to get 1 maybe two if they're both cheap. Another 10-15 million would have covered all three.
  7. That would work for me as well. Francona's one of my favourite coaches in the MLB.
  8. Obviously Norris could improve and be a good starter, he will be a #4/5 guy next year. Might crap the bed too, who knows until we get there. Other than Hoffman, none of the rest of the guys were blue chip guys like Alford and Pompey, some were in the next tier, some below that. Base off pure mathematical odds, some should make the MLB, but most won't and who knows what impact they will have. Will some of the pitchers turn into future versions of Tepera if they stick in the MLB? that's not a huge deal. The Jays can restock the farm system easily through the draft. Not concerned in the slightest about that.
  9. Definitely agree with you there. What did AA trade of actual merit at the deadline - Norris - Likely would have been the #4/5 guy for the Jays next year. Hoffman - High potential to be a #2 guy or better, but was s*** this season entirely leading a lot of people on here to be concerned that his arm might be screwed. Castro - Meh reliever. We have a lot of meh relievers. Tirado - he's okay but not really high end at all. Labourt - he's okay, but is not a high end guy either. The rest were mostly org guys or meh guys like Rasmussen So 2 good prospects and a pile of meh. One or two of the rest of those players may make the MLB at some point. Easily replaceable. The benefit of actually winning and possibly becoming a destination that a free agent would want to go to is more valuable than those two prospects.
  10. To me, this means that the Jays are probably going to be looking to cut payroll. One wouldn't be overly concerned about trading prospects vs the results unless the mission is to cut payroll and have those young guys take over.
  11. The only pitchers I'd like retained are Estrada and Lowe. Anyone else it would depend on a lot of factors.
  12. Jays need to Sign two #2/3 starters or better. This can be a guy like Estrada if you can retain him for say 2/20 or 3/30 or some such. I'm not sure I'd spend the $ on Price, but a guy like Zimmerman might make sense. The Jays need at least two good starters. Keep RA Dickey Sign one of Heyward/Davis. If Heyward, make Jose move to 1B. If Davis, then leave Jose in RF, but use defensive replacements more liberally. Trade Saunders for a relief pitcher or something Re-sign Lowe. Have the team set up 1. Stroman 2. New Starter 3. Estrada/new starter 4. Dickey 5. Hutchison/Sanchez/Osuna/Hendricks Bullpen Closer - Cecil/Osuna 8th - Sanchez/Cecil/Lowe 7th - Sanchez/Lowe Left handed reliever - New Guy/Loup if he rebounds Depth guys - Hendricks/Tepera/Schultz/Delabar/random crappy guy inserted here. C - Martin 1B - Davis/Bautista 2B - Travis SS - Tulowitzki 3B - Donaldson LF - Revere CF - Pillar RF - Heyward/Bautista DH - Encarnacion INF - Goins OF - Pompey MISC - Colabello C - New Guy
  13. I have one word for today's game. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
  14. Late night actually. If Price starts to be iffy at any point, I hope that Gibbons pulls him instead of leaving him out there to give up 5 runs. We have a dynamite foursome between Hendricks, Lowe, Sanchez and Osuna. Use them.
  15. Can we get him to do the play by play. That was awesome.
  16. It was 4:20 AM my time, so just chill everyone, it'll be okay. Coincidentally, every time the Flames and Jays have played on the same day since the start of the hockey season, it's been a loss for both sides. They play Detroit tonight. Just wanted to change it up a bit and am hoping that by starting the thread myself might be the mojo to change things. Not superstitious at all....
  17. http://www.thestar.com/content/dam/thestar/sports/bluejays/2015/07/31/blue-jays-happy-to-meet-david-prices-popcorn-demands/price.jpg.size.xxlarge.promo.jpg "Hi guys, I'm here to win today." Vs "Kiss me, I'm pretty" The season is on the line tonight with the Blue Jays. A win and they play another day, A loss and that is all she wrote. Going to the mound for the Jays is a pitcher who is 0-7 in post season starts. This is a huge game for David Price personally if he fails to secure a victory tonight, it may significantly impact the amount of dollars headed his way this offseason. Another challenge for the Jays is how to adapt to hitting in Kauffman Stadium. They need to modify their approach to go for base hits and doubles as opposed to mashing home runs like they did in both their victories in this series. They will face Yordano Ventura. A tough pitcher, their #2 behind Johnny Cueto, who limited the Jays to 3 runs in 5 1/3 in game two. The Jays will need to find a way to get to him as they did Cueto in game 3 and Volquez in game 5 if they want to have a winner take all game seven. On offense, the Jays have been getting some good at bats from Troy Tulowitzki this series with him striking for a .368 Avg, 1.000 OPS, along with an HR and 7 RBI in the first 5 games. In order for the Jays to stand a better chance tonight, they will need Russell Martin, Ryan Goins and Ben Revere to hit better. The Trio have struggled thus far with Martin collecting only 3 hits in 23 AB and Goins not fairing much better with 5 in 33 at bats. Game time is 8 PM eastern. Go Jays Go.
  18. Jays lack of offense is going to bite them in the ass.
  19. Revere Donaldson Davis Bautista Encarnacion Tulowitzki Martin Pillar Travis/Goins Have fun with that. Even if you just sign a couple of middle of the road starters and run with Stroman, New Guy #1, New Guy #2, Dickey, Hutchison/Sanchez/Osuna, that might be a 100+ win team.
  20. The Jays should sign Chris Davis for 1B. All your mashers are belong to us.
  21. he faced almost nothing but lefties and he blows against lefties. Typically he would not be playing in those situations, but it is what it is. Against the Royals, I'm expecting him to bounce back effectively. Even Revere, who is a great hitter, only had 1 hit on Hamels in game 2, a bunt hit in game 4 against Holland, and a game 5 hit that deflected off the pitcher (would have likely been out if Hamels didn't touch it). Not worried one bit.
  22. I think we as a league are all going to hate Odor soon. What a special talent.
  23. That would have killed baseball in Canada entirely. I would boycott the MLB if they did that.
