  1. Is there any reasonable way to acquire a decent starting pitcher or two without moving either Bautista/EE or guys like Hoffman/Norris/Pentecost?
  2. 70 wins and a clearing out of the entire front office
  3. two scrubs and an international free agent, so some cash and a pair of long relievers or 7th/8th starters. Those are easy to replace.
  4. He's already been hired by the Oilers.
  5. Exactly, all the draft money is basically flushed because most players don't turn out. Alford did not look like he'd be a player before because of football, now he does.
  6. I would rather they go out and sign a bunch of mediocre free agent pitchers on the cheap or give them spring training invites than sign a "legit" one for more than 5 per. Worst case scenario is that the suck and you cut most of them by May and bring up guys like Norris and throw them in the pen.
  7. If he turns it around, it's almost like found money.
  8. The thing that I like is that the Jays have added 3 major pieces to the organization and it only cost one good prospect and some fillers. Major upgrades on Lawrie, Melky, and Navarro. A minor step down at the 5th starter position from Happ to Estrada and a big step down from Lind to Smoak? Still a lot of work to do, but he gets full credit for not dealing Norris/Stroman/Sanchez or any of the other good pitchers in the system.
  9. Legitish, my source has informed me a few times about stuff the A's have done usually a day or two prior to it happening. It's not full proof though as sometimes things do fall through.
  10. I have a source that's a friend of someone in the A's Org, and this apparently is close to being finalized.
  11. It's possible to like players that get dealt from your team. Gose was decent, it's just that Pompey made him expendable. Travis looks like an awesome fit.
  12. You just know that the cheap ass jays are going to sign two mediocre s*** players to replace Cabrera and Lind, even though they will claim to be in on everyone. There should have been no reason why they shouldn't keep Melky, he's too good a fit both in terms of personality and ability. Unfortunately Rogers has shown absolutely no inclination to field a winning team at all. I wish they would trade off everyone and build this team properly, rebuilding from the ground up, instead of plugging useless players like Goins and saying they are trying to compete. A competitive team would get some legit players to fill those roles.
  13. If the jays do not sign anyone, and go into the season with arguably the worst team in the AL East on paper, should the jays start looking at selling off pieces?
