  1. Looks like Loperfido is joining the big league club. With KK likely to be moved, I could see him getting a chance at everyday LF reps.
  2. A top 3 AAV would be over $40m, so if that's what Vlad is asking for over a 10+ year term, then most likely scenarios are 1) they will end up moving him next July or 2) if they are in contention then they will let him go to free agency and see what the market says. Both of the latter scenarios seem a lot less desirable than trading him now and maxing out his trade value, but the Jays want to compete in 2025, so it ain't happening now.
  3. Unfortunately I think that’s probably more accurate than people assuming he will command a haul. It’s a sellers market but that $21m next season is a very large amount for any team to pick up for someone Bassitt’s age and projected value. As mentioned the same issue might apply to Green. He’d have way more value as an expiring rather than another team having to pay him $10.5m next year. The player to move to get under the tax is probably IKF.
  4. Curious to know what teams are offering for Bassitt. On one hand he seems like the perfect guy to trade right now but he makes $21m next season at age 36 and he’s closer to a #4 starter at this point. You can probably rule out the small to mid market contenders with that contract. He might have been a bigger asset if he was a rental. His contract is fair value at best with no chance for surplus. Gausman is the guy to move if you want to take advantage of this market as he has an ace ceiling but that’s why the Jays will keep him praying he bounces back.
  5. System still lacks high end prospects but the depth has definitely improved. Just have to hope a couple pan out.
  6. You’re going to be disappointed in a few hours. I agree the Jays are going to want to get under the tax, so if they can’t do that by just trading the rentals then there likely will be another move but I think at most it will be Green or IKF. No chance they move Gausman. Maybe a minor chance they move Bassitt but still very unlikely.
  7. Another HR for Vlad, OPS up to .900 now. Wow what a turnaround. It was like 2 months ago that he was Vladimir Arraez Jr, but now he's crushing everything.
  8. In this market, Bassitt and Green should definitely be moved.
  9. I hate pitching prospects but a top 100ish prospect plus others (I would assume) seems pretty fair. Let’s see what the rest of the deal looks like.
  10. If the M's aren't picking up all of Turner's money (looks like they aren't), then the Jays might need to move one of Green or IKF to get below the luxury tax. I can't see the Jays wanting to be a tax team in 2024. Resetting the penalties will help them as they go 2015 AA this winter, so I think they end up moving Green or IKF (preferably both, but that's asking too much).
  11. The Blue Jays official account says it's Turner and "cash considerations". That makes more sense as I can't imagine a team as cheap as the M's usually are taking all of Turner's contract. Obviously I hope the first report is true.
  12. Wow, can't believe the M's took all of Turner's remaining salary. I thought there was no shot the Jays could get under the tax by just trading the pending FAs but I guess they can now. I hope they still trade Green and IKF, though.
  13. Worst day of John Schneider’s career not being able to pencil in Turner in the clean up spot everyday. But yeah the return is irrelevant. Just get him off the roster so someone with a possible future on this team could get plate appearances.
  14. Yeah I want Bo gone yesterday but hard to see them getting value when he’s hurt on top of the bad performance. Revisit in the off season, although this front office is more likely to revisit it next July. To me the more obvious trade candidate is IKF. If there is a market for him and they keep him because they want to compete in 2025 then they need their damn heads examined.
  15. Ross Atkins spit out his drink after reading this.
  16. Atkins seems like one of those guys who has trouble making eye contact with people. Doesn’t surprise me at all that he’d operate like this.
  17. The Jays clearly did not want to deal with Pearson when he has no minor league options next year. It did start to feel like if Pearson ever panned out it would be somewhere else. Let's see what the Cubs can do with him. Personally, I would have kept him and stretched him out in the Spring. Chances are that would have failed too but it's not like the Jays are swimming in SP depth, so it would have been worth a shot. Either way this seems like a whole bunch of meh all the way around.
  18. Double A SS based on their top 30 is probably Josh Rivera, and his numbers are ass. Will wait to see what the return is. Pearson isn’t exactly a high value asset so not expecting much.
  19. Kikuchi for Trey Sweeney and a low A prospect is going to hurt a little bit.
  20. I’d trust a bum on the street over Morosi, so I won’t buy this until someone reputable posts it, but I’d be pleasantly surprised if they traded Green. Hope it happens and they get something decent.
  21. "You can cross off 4th OF from 2025's needs list." - Ross Atkins, probably.
  22. I can't get over how insane it would be to not trade Vlad this trade deadline, and then follow that up by not extending him in the off season. Is the team seriously going to keep him for one more year because they want to contend in 2025 and then either trade him next July or let him test free agency? If Shapiro green lights that approach, then he can take the first bus out of town.
