  1. Yep. The thought of Navarro at DH is sickening. I'm rooting for Smoak.
  2. Wilner in mid season form.
  3. With Hutchison and Stroman adding new pitches to improve their performance, I guess we can't rule out Sanchez doing the same. Hope it helps him.
  4. How about Estrada in the rotation, Hendriks as the long man, and Norris in AAA until Sanchez fails? At least get that extra year on Norris.
  5. To think, if Stroman were healthy, the likely set up would have been Sanchez in the pen, Estrada in the rotation, Norris in AAA, and Castro in Dunedin. One injury, and suddenly two prospects who should start in the minors (Norris for service time reasons) will start in the bigs, and another who should be a reliever will be in the rotation. Damn Marcus, you had to f*** up your ACL, didn't you?
  6. Knowing that the organization is willing to screw around with Castro, I'd be willing to move both he and Sanchez for Hamels. One is destined to be a reliever (Sanchez), and the other is going to get his development screwed up by the org. Hamels instantly makes the team better.
  7. If they don't care about service time with practically every other young player on the team, then Travis should make the team out of Spring Training too. He is clearly better than Maicer.
  8. How many times has Tampa or Oakland done something to a prospect similar to what the Jays are doing to Castro? I'll guess never. What's stopping AA from using Osuna and Hoffman as relievers next year? Dude is out of his f***ing mind right now.
  9. He has 80 innings as his max so far. As a reliever he will throw about 75. Stretching him out next year will require a trip to the minors, and how likely is that if he succeeds (even artificially) as a reliever? Even if they do stretch him out again in 2016, he will be back in the pen at the first sign of not panning out immediately. We have seen this song and dance forever.
  10. They should have fired AA after he acquired Saunders. A better GM could have put the finishing touches on this roster. Instead, Harry and Lloyd (or Alex and Gibby) will run this team to the ground to save their jobs. Poor Castro. Wrong place, wrong time. He deserved a chance to see if he could make it as a starter. Now he will probably never know.
  11. Alex is fired if the team fails and he has no money to spend. Dude is going out with the guys he drafted or signed, for better or worse. Very selfish the way he is using Castro but that's why GM's should never have one year remaining on their contracts. Either extend them or replace them.
  12. Gibbons will misuse him. Edwin hurting his back might temper down some of Gibby's insanity, but I think we'll see Navarro getting way too many DH AB's regardless.
  13. Norris > Estrada > Sanchez, if I had to guess 2015 performance as starters, but I want Norris to start in AAA for service time reasons. A lefty with his stuff is worth holding onto for that extra year, even if it means a month and a half of Sanchez/Estrada in the back end of the rotation.
  14. Not benched necessarily, but skipped once or twice to get some rest. They can essentially flip spots with Estrada in that scenario, where they spend 10 days to 2 weeks as long reliever to calm their innings down, and then go back into the rotation from there. Not saying that's a great thing to do, but if they want to get mileage out of Norris/Sanchez without abusing their IP totals, then something like that could work.
  15. Man, if Osuna and Castro both remain starters this season, they are going to shoot up prospect lists.
  16. I think Sanchez/Estrada in the rotation with Norris in AAA is a good idea. However, if they decide to go with Sanchez and Norris, then there are ways to manage their innings using Estrada as the spot starter. For example, if one of the two is struggling in June, have Estrada take their spot in the rotation for 1-3 turns, and then put them back in the rotation after that, and so on. That way they periodically get a breather, and can still finish the season with an IP total around 170 or so (which I'm guessing is where they want to go after 130 IP in 2014 for both).
  17. Why do they view Hendriks as a reliever? And there's no doubt Castro's making the team. I almost wish he sucked in Spring Training. Damn you, Alex.
  18. Shut up, Morosi. No one asked you.
  19. If they are letting Castro throw 3 or more innings, that means they see him as a starter, right? RIGHT? Please don't put him in the pen, Alex.
  20. 1-2-3 inning. 2 GB and a FO. Castro making fans break out the tissues right now.
  21. Screw the bullpen. Let Castro start in AA/AAA, and then bring him up as a starter mid-season. Innings limit, my ass.
  22. The bad news is, the better he pitches, the more likely he makes the team as a reliever. Still hope sanity prevails.
  23. Wow, please don't make Castro a reliever. He's a starter.
  24. I think it's mostly because the team went out and acquired two star position players but did nothing for the rotation or pen except minor league deals and waiver claims. The organization always goes half in, never any sense of urgency despite the playoff drought and miserable fans dying to see a winner.
  25. AA thinks all our top prospects will pan out and stay injury free. Didn't need no darn depth.
