  1. Any chance Arizona trades Chase Anderson for Navarro? Morosi lists him as a holdover who the new regime in Arizona may move. Him and Estrada as the 4/5 starters while Norris gets some development time in AAA would be solid.
  2. Navarro and Romero (salary equalizer) for Cahill would be as far as I would go for him. Man, I really wish we traded for Bolsinger or Miley when we had the chance. Stewart hates FIP, WAR, and anything else he couldn't see on the back of a 1970's baseball card.
  3. Even the Jays are not stupid enough to tempt fate with Edwin's back by having him play 1B regularly. I think Smoak or Barton will have to make the team, especially with Navarro begging to get traded.
  4. Halladay, Carpenter, and Escobar will be as close as the Jays get to having three starters with that upside. The Braves were a once in a lifetime situation. I don't think we will live to see that again. Maybe two HOF's in one rotation but three is insane.
  5. If Castro is used as a long reliever and ends up with 100 IP out of the big league pen then I might be OK with it. Not ideal but at least better than relegating him to short relief at age 20. With 80 innings being his high he's probably got a 120 inning limit anyway.
  6. Jays stretching out Copeland. Is he any good?
  7. If Castro makes the team as a reliever, then AA should be fired. Prior to this he hasn't been acting like a lameduck GM, but one injury, and suddenly he doesn't give a s*** about the future.
  8. Wow. Castro's actually going to make the team, isn't he?
  9. I think the plan all along was Norris in AAA, Sanchez in the pen, and Estrada in the rotation. With Stroman out, there's really not much else they can do. Norris is their fourth best starter right now.
  10. Just think, still four weeks left until the season starts. Four whole weeks left for more injuries and stupid s*** to happen.
  11. Navarro for Cahill would make sense except for the large difference in salary. If the D-Backs would do Navarro and Romero for Cahill, then I could see it being a possibility, but they have no reason to take Ricky's useless carcass, and the Jays won't add 7m to the payroll for a depth move.
  12. Gotta give Navarro credit, his fat ass is forcing a trade, and that's a good thing for the Jays.
  13. The D-Backs are definitely the team to trade with. It's just a matter of finding the right trade. Delgado is the guy i'd go after too, but can't see Arizona trading him for Navarro. I wonder if there is a trade where the Jays could land both Hudson and Delgado, but that's unlikely.
  14. They won't be trading Norris, Sanchez, or Pompey because they need those guys. They won't trade Hoffman because he's not healthy yet. Really, the only trading chips they have that might attract interest are Osuna and Castro, and they'd probably be selling low on them at this rate (their value could skyrocket by this time next season, especially Osuna's). I guess if they can trade those two and get Hamels back, it would be fine, but I can't see Ruben doing that (he'd ask for those two plus Norris, Sanchez, Pompey, and Hoffman).
  15. 2008/9: Burnett leaves as a FA. Marcum, McGowan, and Litsch all need surgery and miss all of 2009 season. That forces the Jays to basically punt 2009 on purpose, and subsequently trade Halladay at the end of the season. 2012: Hutchison, Drabek, and Morrow pretty much get hurt around the same time, forces Hutchison and Drabek to miss all of 2013, and Morrow to never be the same again (for whatever reason). 2013: Projected rotation of Dickey, Johnson, Buehrle, Morrow, Happ, and Romero. Johnson ends up getting hurt, pitching poorly, and missing most of the season. Morrow gets hurt and misses most of the season. Happ gets drilled in the head with a line drive. Romero ceases to be a Major Leaguer. I'm not saying they are better or worse with healthy than others, but they sure as hell don't get the benefit of health that often. Last season and 2010 were really huge missed opportunities.
  16. When it comes to the Jays, there is no such thing as jinxes. Bad things happen to them regardless of what is said. You can say Daniel Norris will throw 200 IP in 2015 or Daniel Norris will get Tommy John Surgery, and regardless, always expect the worst to happen. We're the Blue Jays. This is reality.
  17. Sanchez will now be needed in the rotation (ugh), and AA can't afford to scratch his own ass with the money he has left to spend from ownership, so that pretty much covers it.
  18. It will be Sanchez and Norris, with Estrada in the pen. Wouldn't surprise me if Castro makes it now. What a disaster, and Rogers won't give two shits, so don't expect the money to get Hamels/Papelbon.
  19. Houston had to take back two completely deadweight salaries (Blowdero and Francisco) so that probably made the prospect capital a bit higher.
  20. Too early to label Edwin's issue as being chronic. We will see how much actual regular season time he misses because of it, if any. Although, based on the way the payroll is structured for the next few years, even in a best case scenario the Jays will likely have to pick one or the other with Bautista/Edwin, and they'll likely go with Bautista regardless.
  21. At least it doesn't appear to be serious but we can never tell with Blue Jays doctors.
  22. Keep him off the field. Let him DH full time instead of playing 1B to get Navarro's bat in the lineup.
  23. If Cecil is closer and they need an additional lefty to join Loup in the middle innings, then my guess is Barnes wins it. He's out of options. I guess Francis is a possibility as well, but I think they need him in the AAA rotation for depth.
  24. Martin kicks the ball while Navarro sits and watches. That's the only plausible scenario.
  25. I'm going to miss Buehrle after this season.
