  1. Agreed. I'm not a fan of Castro in the bigs, but using him for 4 f***ing pitches is ridiculous. Either you trust him or you don't. If you don't, then send him down. Don't use him as a 1 batter guy. This loss is definitely on Gibbons trying to be cute. Loup and especially Cecil dealt with bad luck, but stick with the hot hand. Loup looked wild as hell on Monday too.
  2. Lawrie will never hit like people thought he would. He's still a great defensive 3B, so if he stays healthy, he'll definitely be worth a lot for that reason alone, but I think league average offense is his talent level (or slightly below).
  3. Glad I'm not the only one with this fear. We cannot, I repeat, CANNOT trail the Yankees by the 5th inning over the next two games. These guys take every shortcut in the book.
  4. ESPN's baseball coverage is fair to the Blue Jays. ESPN in general (like First Take, PTI, etc) usually just spouts off about the NFL with very little knowledge of anything else, so they are far more likely to be ignorant about the game and only talk about A-Rod and/or Tanaka. Baseball Tonight is usually pretty solid and fair with the Jays.
  5. Considering Thursday's game is in jeopardy of being rained out, the off day today looks even dumber. Say what you want about Skydome/RC, but at least you're guaranteed the games will actually get played. All stadiums should have retractable roofs.
  6. Five run lead in the 7th: bring in your 2nd best reliever when you have an eight man pen. He sure knows how to handle a bullpen.
  7. I hope some rain will be brought in the 2nd inning. Can't wait to see Donaldson bat.
  8. The Legendary Derek Jeter would have had a better AB than that.
  9. The Yankees are not as good anymore, and their core players are gone. Wouldn't surprise me if the fans take a while to come back.
  10. Ok, enough Gibby bashing for me. Let's do this. Time to end the drought.
  11. I'm interested to see how Tanaka looks. The worse he looks, the better, obviously.
  12. Naturally the game where we are scheduled the face a lefty will get rained out.
  13. I agree with you. Gibbons is terrible. However, even fans knew he had a love affair with Navarro. I would think the GM would take that option away from him rather than risk the manager using his bias to potentially cost the team runs/wins. There is no benefit to having Navarro as back-up catcher. He can't catch and can't hit if he's playing anywhere else. Take that option away from Gibbons and he would have smartened up by default. Either that or fire Gibbons and hire someone who has a clue. This is a guy who played Francisco at 3b, Edwin in LF, and so on. He doesn't know s***.
  14. Have to blame AA on this one. All he had to do was dump Navarro and use Thole as the back-up catcher, and this would have never happened. Can't expect Gibby to change.
  15. No, Farrell was bad too, but he was a first time manager learning the ropes and even then I think he's a better option than Gibbons. I don't get the hype with Gibbons. What is so good about him? At least Farrell came from a player development background. I'd trust him managing a team way before I trust Elmer Fudd.
  16. Lol. Never change, Wilner. There is no defending this move. Edwin sucks at 1B, Navarro can't hit righties. This is Gibbons playing his favorites over trying to help the team win. Nothing more to see.
  17. Better than Buck, sure. I'd take everyone else over him, though. Even Farrell.
  18. Gibbons is managing a MLB team. When that reality sets in, expect the worst and hope for the best. That's all you can do.
  19. I was so pumped for Opening Day. Navarro's name in the lineup is such a buzzkill. I thought after the way Smoak finished Spring Training that he was certain to start at 1B. Might as well drop Smoak entirely at this point, since Valencia will play 1B against lefties and Gibby prefers Navarro's fat ass against righties so much that he's willing to hurt the defense at the same time. Oh well. Enough negativity. Let's go Jays.
