  1. Osuna doesn't want to start this season and doesn't have enough innings to do it anyway. My guess is when Storen and Cecil leave next season that Osuna will just be kept as closer.
  2. Rotation: Stroman, Dickey, Happ, Estrada, Floyd Pen: Storen, Cecil, Osuna, Chavez, Straily, Biagini, Loup (or whichever lefty takes his spot) Expose to waivers: Delabar, Leon Keep in AAA or lose: Choate It's doable. BUt yeah, in that case, you have to either put Sanchez in the pen as a full-time reliever (while losing Biagini) or in AAA as a starter.
  3. Looks like he's out of options and is on the bubble as far making the Astros roster based on some articles. Makes sense that theywould be looking to move him in that case as I can't see him passing through waivers. Getting him for Jimenez would be a good deal for the Jays if it were to happen.
  4. Interesting.
  5. "I'll go down..." Maybe he's already been told that the minors are an alternative if he doesn't win a rotation spot.
  6. Shapiro is awesome. I don't mind Sanchez in AAA on a long shot that he develops something reasonably close to a swing and miss pitch, but if the goal is to make the 2016 team as good as possible, then he should be in the pen. Then if a need arises mid season you can put him in the rotation in that scenario (although he should be behind Floyd, Chavez, and Hutch on the depth chart).
  7. AJ Jimenez is being showcased for the Astros today according to some Houston writer on Twitter. Wonder if they have another JD Martinez they don't appreciate.
  8. Not as long as Gibby is managing. He loves him some Cola. With Edwin's timetable messed up, they might be playing both to start out with, though.
  9. He will start in the pen and then move to the rotation mid season when Floyd's arm explodes or needs arise, is my best guess.
  10. I think Ceciliani has a better 4th OF skill set. Looks like a good defensive player and base runner. Only issue is there won't be anyone to platoon with Saunders, but if they intend on playing Saunders everyday then it's irrelevant. Only thing holding Ceciliani back is options. He has options, while Lake/Carrera don't. We will see if that plays into their decision making.
  11. I wonder if Buck's thoughts in written form sound just as drunk and incoherent as his words. That might be the only reason to buy the book, to test that theory. Or to use as a coaster, whatever's less painful.
  12. The Jays got a bargain on JB/EE's primes, and now they are expected to give them market value for their declines. Isn't this the perfect time to cut bait? Try to win a WS with them in '16, and then whatever happens, thank JB/EE for their time, and move on after the season. Worst case the team is out of it at the deadline and maybe the players are more willing to waive 10/5 rights (especially since it removes draft compensation for them). There is no downside to waiting. An extension makes no sense for the team right now.
  13. He got that by eating 7 meals a day and increasing protein, bro.
  14. Floyd will be the 5th starter and Sanchez will be in the pen. That's my best case as I have heard nothing about sending Sanchez down, and it doesn't make sense to have Floyd and Chavez both in the pen. You want to win in 2016 without demoting Sanchez? Then he's in the bullpen.
  15. Need to hear that interview. There hasn't been a peep about Sanchez starting the year in Buffalo, so I don't know if that's an option they are discussing.
  16. I said before it wouldn't shock me if Edwin tests the market, sees that he's not getting the ridiculous numbers others are, and comes back to the Jays at a reasonable price. He seems sincere when he says he wants to come back, and I think if the Jays offer is relatively close to the highest bidder, he'll come back. Boston may need the DH spot for one of their existing vets, and if the NL doesn't have a DH by next season, then Edwin's options won't be as big for a player of his calibre. Wait until next off-season to see what happens with EE. For Bautista, I wouldn't mind a shorter term deal that is Cespedes-like, but it would have to be on a higher payroll. Even $30m/AAV on a $150m payroll is pushing it considering DOnaldson, Tulo, Martin, Happ, and Estrada will be combining for a shade under $85m next season. The payroll would have to be way higher, around $175-180m.
  17. Hope he has a monster 2016 and then best of luck to him wherever he goes. I've said before, the Jays got his best years at a bargain. He doesn't owe them anything, and the team doesn't owe him anything. Someone else can pay big money for his decline. I just wish he kept his mouth shut and didn't make this a story in spring training.
  18. I see it the same way BTS does. Two straight years in the pen, after a career high 45-ish innings in the minors? He'll need at least a year just to stretch out, never mind actually contribute in any meaningful way as a starter. I guess it's possible he can go from 80 innings to 160, or until his arm explodes, but that type of transition is not easy, and it becomes more difficult the longer he's a reliever. Wouldn't shock me at all if he never starts a game for the Jays. Only way I see it working is if he struggles as a reliever this season and is sent down to stretch out.
  19. Floyd's lines look solid but hard to know what types of outs he was getting. Still, a healthy Floyd (if that even exists) is an interesting #5 option.
  20. Come on Floyd. Win that rotation spot. Would be a cool story if he did. And yes, bat Tulo lead off.
  21. I think Biagini will make the team. Leon is out of options. Considering they traded for him knowing he was out of options, maybe they give him a real shot to make it. Sanchez isn't needed in the pen.
  22. I want Biagini to pan out. Rule 5 picks turning into assets are always nice.
  23. If Saunders is healthy and starts in LF, then I think Lake probably gets the 4th OF spot for platoon reasons. Not like Zeke's defense in CF is any good either.
  24. Yep. it's not about talent with him, it's about his health. Let's see how his knee holds up.
