    Wow. He also had Giles pitch 3 days in a row last season shortly before the trade deadline, and Giles got hurt then too. I don't see Shatkins firing him after 2 years. They should, but it would make them look bad for hiring him in the first place. Unfortunately I think we are stuck with him.

    The whole point of the runner on 2nd is to avoid long extra innings. I think all of the games so far have ended in the 10th. Oh well, Yamaguchi hasn't looked good in any spring training or summer camp sample size, and he looked bad here as well. The rule likely didn't change the result of this game. If Montoya is still managing in 2021, then Shatkins deserves criticism. He's fine for a rebuilding/tanking team, but if you actually want to win, hire someone better. A lot better.

    Vlad diving for the ball when there was a f***ing shift and Biggio was right behind him is almost a perfect way to lose at the Trop.

    That would have been the better option, although Cole gave up two warning track fly outs in his inning.

    Yeah he looks and manages like a fall guy. He was here to soak up a s*** ton of losses because no good candidate would have. At least I hope that's the case. So far I think Gibby 2.0 was more analytical than him, so I'm not sure what the point was for hiring him other than to take one or two seasons on the chin.

    If we assume Romano, Bass, and Dolis were unavailable, Giles being saved in case we take the lead, and Cole already used, who else was available? Hatch and Kay going tomorrow, so they are out. Is Yamaguchi with the team right now? Other than that it was either Sammy G or Waguespack. Sounds like this was going to be a loss either way.

    Sam is not a high leverage reliever. He is a mop up guy. Was hoping for the best there, but not surprised.

    Dolis got a bad break with the Bo error, but man, he was lucky as hell to get out of that inning with just 1 run allowed.

    Bad call, but he could have easily punched out Shaw on that 3-2 pitch, so I'll take it.
