    The Yankees have re-signed Aaron Boone to a 3 year deal, and Yankees fans on social media are acting like Jays fans will act when Montoyo gets his extension.

    It wouldn't surprise me if he gets traded this winter. Montoyo is staying, possibly long-term/forever, and down the stretch he was playing McGuire over Kirk in the team's most important games of the season. The team will need to keep DH open for Springer (over 30, lower body injuries), Vlad, etc, as a rotating position to rest guys periodically, so Kirk doesn't really help in that area. His trade value likely exceeds the value he's going to give to the team at this rate, especially if Moreno is seen as the real deal.

    The more I look at the Jays payroll situation, now and down the road, the more I think they pass on Semien/Ray due to price and focus on finding the 2022 versions of those two players. Basically try to do what AA did in Atlanta. Just keep trying to find the best short term value every year (JD, Ozuna, Morton, etc) to supplement the existing young core.

    I was rooting for the Dodgers in this series, but the way they have used their pitching staff is turning me off. No reason to use Urias in that spot. I know they have injuries, but damn.

    He's a good bounce back candidate given how bad he was this season, but even if he was bad again in 2022, the final year of his deal is an option. Just decline the option. They'll have to pay him $8m for that, but Grichuk at $9+m isn't any better. It would be a pick your poison scenario. JBJ is a much better fit for this roster, although the risk would be Buntoyo playing him a lot regardless of performance. Charlie loves vetrins.

    Trade Grichuk for JBJ. The salaries are about equal (JBJ: $9.5m in 2022/$8.0m buyout in 2023, Grichuk $9.33m in 2022+2023). JBJ is coming off an awful season, but he's LH, can play CF, and would be a better 4th OF option on a team with so many RH outfielders. No idea whether the Brewers would be interested in a deal like that, but trying to be realistic, and let me dream about a roster without Grichuk dammit.

    Correa is actually likable to me, although I like players who can heel it up and embrace their douchiness (JD, Stroman, Bautista, as recent Jays examples).

    I want a Dodgers/Astros 2017 rematch. Closest thing to a real rivalry left between the four teams.

    A great game by two great teams and the story is going to be about an umpire. Sounds about right. Umpires seems to have gotten worse this season, and that’s saying something. The sad thing is, this wouldn’t have been prevented by robo umps since it wasn’t even the HP umpire’s blown call.

    If he were to describe Vick the same way he described Ozuna, then it would have been something like "lost Vick due to dog fighting investigation", which would have also been fine. Nothing Passan said came close to mentioning or marginalizing the victim as much as "disobedient dog" would have. It's apples and oranges.

    Disagree completely. I don't even think it was poorly worded or easily misinterpreted. He stated a fact. It was an incident of alleged domestic violence. He didn't condone or make light of it. He didn't minimize it. He just said it happened and it was the reason for Ozuna's absence. I'm not surprised people called him out for it. That's what Twitter does. It's a small minority, but it has the loudest voice. Passan did what he had to do to appease the bullies and it's done now while accomplishing nothing.

    A Berrios extension will likely be closer to the 5/125 suggested than 5/90. The Jays have no leverage. They can't afford to lose him after next season, and Berrios has said he's looking forward to maximizing money in free agency. He has no reason to sign early unless he's paid similar to that of a free agent. If an extension gets done, then it's probably going to be for a dollar amount that many here will dislike at first glance.

    Thank goodness the Rays are out. Now I can root against the Red Sox again. Very pleased with this result.

    Vlad is probably going to beat Bellinger's Arb1 amount after 2019. No chance he gets as little as MLBTR is speculating.

    I know it's been happening for years, but it's still crazy that the ALDS games are being aired on MLB Network and FS1. MLB would have been better off putting these games on YouTube rather than a specialty cable channel and FOX's 2nd rate sports channel that no one watches.

    A Vlad extension is going to be similar to the Tatis extension most likely. Curious to see if Shatkins would give a 12-14 year deal to a player.

    I don't know if Montreal is the solution, but I really hope whenever they start the 50/50 split that Montreal sells out every game. It will be easy to contrast rowdy and younger Canadian fans showing up to games versus a bunch of senior citizens in St. Pete sitting on their hands while the stadium has to give away free tickets just to get 10k into that shithole. The Tampa owner seems to want to get out as well, so hopefully it happens sooner than later.

    The Jays in Brampton would probably still get 50k if they were a 100 win team. At the least they certainly wouldn’t have a shitload of empty seats for a home playoff game like Tampa did last night.

    Agreed. The Rays roster on the Pirates with that stadium/fanbase would be incredible. Tampa is just the wrong market. If Montreal truly embraces baseball again when they do that 50/50 split, then that might be enough for me to stop hating the Rays too. I think for me it's the stadium and lack of fanbase. They don't deserve a team that good. All the other stuff sucks too, but I'd probably overlook that if it was a baseball hotbed.

    Yeah, I'm sure location/family is a priority for him as far as which team to sign with, but if the Jays offer the most, then I think he re-signs. If the offers are similar between the Jays and a location he'd prefer (ex. Angels), then he's probably gone, so the Jays would have to go above and beyond, most likely. But it's possible. He signed a one year deal because he felt he was a $100M+ talent. He was right. Now it's just a matter of which team gives him the best deal.

    Cleveland definitely seems to prefer a blend of young and MLB talent in exchange for their vets, so I could see them being interested in Gurriel along with prospects. Would CLE do something like Groshans, Kirk, Gurriel, and Biggio for Ramirez? I have no idea. I'm sure they'd love the cheap years of control on the latter 3. They could fill 3 MLB positions for cheap for the next 3-5 years, plus get a top 50ish prospect on top of that. I guess it would depend on how highly they view those players. If the Jays could get Ramirez without giving up Moreno or Martinez, then man, that would be incredible.

    Cleveland really has no reason to trade Ramirez since he's so cheap (with team options) and they have like no payroll commitments next year after trading Lindor, but if they did happen to revisit this in the off season, then I wonder if there is a deal that can be figured out that doesn't involve Manoah, Moreno, or Martinez (and obviously Vlad/Bo) going the other way. Really anyone else on the MLB or MiLB roster should be available in that deal, but with Martin and SWR subtracted from the system, it makes it a bit harder to pull off that type of trade while still holding on to Moreno/Martinez. I doubt CLE would get too excited about Groshans and Kirk as a starting point.
