  1. Of course the guy the Rays got for Adames turns out to be good. What a shock.
  2. Jansen and Kirk are both doing well so perfect time to bench both for McGuire.
  3. M’s up 1-0 in the 2nd. Hopefully I wake up to a Red Sox loss.
  4. Manoah has dominated the Rays this season. His numbers against TB, NYY, and BOS combined are excellent. Big man is built to pitch in the AL East.
  5. I'm curious about this as well. The visual of a playoff game having 15k in attendance is really bad, even though Jays fans are loud and rowdy regardless. Even 50% capacity would be a letdown. I guess it's a bridge to cross if/when it actually happens, but I hope they make some type of exception for a home WC game.
  6. This only makes sense if Buntoyo thinks Richards, Merryweather, and Soria are interchangeable as high leverage options, but even then it doesn't explain why he wouldn't just use Borucki who has been awful this season and is just coming back from the minors. Oh well. We're stuck with this bongo playing doofus, so it is what it is.
  7. At least Borucki will be ready to come in during a close game in the next 2 games.
  8. Not watching the game, Buntoyost is actually bringing Richards into a blowout rather than Borucki? Wtf.
  9. My guess is Manoah goes one more inning and Borucki finishes it.
  10. Beating up on Yarborough is so satisfying.
  11. The Twins will never beat the Yankees. In anything.
  12. I hope the Padres make it to the Wild Card game. Whether you agree with how they were built or not, they bring star power (Tatis is more fun to watch than anyone on the Reds or Cardinals) and there is a rivalry with the Dodgers that could make for a more fun do or die game. However, with the amount of games they have left against the Giants, and the fact that the Giants never lose games, it will be tough. I've always liked the Cardinals fanbase, so if it not the Padres, then put the Cards in there.
  13. I'm sure it's plenty of factors, but the Rays are a bad draw in just about every sense. They just don't generate the type of interest that meshes with how good of a team they are.
  14. I've already accepted the fact that he's going to stay next season, and if the Jays make the Wild Card game, he might end up getting extended, so might as well embrace the ineptitude and hope he Ned Yost's his way to a championship.
  15. Seriously, if it takes Thornton 100 pitches to get through 3 innings, let him. Don't waste a good arm on today's game. Let him give up another 7-8 runs. Means nothing.
  16. If anyone can make this game a save situation, it's Thornton. God he sucks.
  17. Since June, Ryu has a 4.98 ERA (4.34 FIP) and 6.61 K/9 in about 100 innings. This being the start of his decline is very possible. As long as he's healthy, then hopefully he can serve as a league average ish innings guy (think 2015 Buehrle/Dickey), which will have value, but we might be seeing why no other team wanted to go above 3 years for him.
  18. 2022: $4.5M 2023: $5.4M 2024: Arb I mean, they could trade Gurriel if the return was right, but since they like to spend big boy money in free agency now, having an everyday player who is that affordable is a pretty nice luxury as arb costs and free agent costs go up.
  19. Before today's game, Gurriel since May 15: 2.2 WAR, 349 PA, 138 wRC+, 7.2 BB%, 17.5 K% Now he goes out and hits a salami.
  20. Damn even the ump doesn't want to end this slaughter.
  21. If Dyson gets a hit then the mercy rule might have to be applied.
  22. I like how Valera was up in the count 2-0 and bunted for no reason.
