  1. I believe the Dodgers are under the first threshold this season in order to reset the penalties. They are essentially planning for a massive contract to Ohtani. My guess is he goes there as the Mets even with Cohen's money may not appeal to Ohtani as much (basing that off nothing). I agree that it would be cool if he went to Seattle as well, but I don't think they would get into a bidding war with the Dodgers, much less win one.
  2. Man what a game this was. Probably a good thing that there's a day off tomorrow. Big win.
  3. Please have a clean, no stress inning Romano!
  4. What a crazy first game, and it's still not over.
  5. Schneider looks like a kid at Christmas when he can make a pitching change. I thought that was just a Montoyo thing but the Jays org seem to love it.
  6. Sure but Schneider is the one using him against Judge in a big September game, or Santana in a playoff game, and so on. Obviously in this case he was brought in to get one out against two lefties and he failed, but taking Swanson out (who actually does well against lefties) just to bring in a worse reliever is on the manager.
  7. When people shitted on the idea of signing Britton for the bullpen, this is why I was for it. Schenider thinks Mayza is a lot better than he is, and it's going to hurt this team like it did last year.
  8. Mayza facing Goldschmidt and possibly Arenado seems on brand for Schneider.
  9. Pop with the much needed GB.
  10. Well instead of Pearson in this spot, we get Pop. Let's see what happens.
  11. Hopefully he can get through 5 and keep them at 3 runs.
  12. "Without naming any names that could have been 2 or 3 last year". Damn even Buck throwing shots at last year's OF defense.
  13. An OF with 3 CF's will be fun to watch.
  14. Why the hell did Bo throw that?
  15. Great AB by Varsho.
  16. Finished with 32 combined K's and game time was still only 2:33. Pitch clock is going to work long term.
  17. You could remove the last 4 words of that sentence and it would still be accurate.
  18. Yeah it was nice seeing what the scores were and what the situation was (how many runners on base, etc) for other games at the top. Made it easy to flip to other games when there was a more exciting situation. Not sure why they got rid of that. The mobile version other than not having the other scores on top seems much better than the desktop version, which is complete ass all the way around.
  19. The new Gameday is awful. Not user friendly at all. But yes super pumped that it is opening day. Watching the Yankees game, then the Jays game, and then whatever else in the evening. Great to have baseball back.
  20. Varsho in the clean up spot instead of Belt is an interesting choice. Hopefully, Varsho can have a big year with the bat to match his defensive ability.
  21. I think the baffling part is that Lukes, Lopez, Pop, and Pearson all have options. It’s not like they would lost anyone if Lopez and Pearson made the team so you can’t even point to options to rationalize the decisions. Having Pearson throw any pitches in AAA at this point is crazy. At least wanting Lopez to play everyday is understandable.
  22. Had to figure Lukes was making it given how long he was on the 40 man roster. I hope his defense and base running is at least above average. Bernard would have made more sense as a seldom used bench player but the FO clearly sees something in Lukes or wants to reward him for something.
  23. Alec Bohm probably belongs at 1B but then they’d need a 3B, and I think all they have is Sosa and Harrison as options. Would improve the defense if nothing else. But yeah sucks for Hoskins given this was his free agent year.
  24. Yeah when Nate is healthy he should be on the big league club at this point. No sense wasting whatever bullets he has on minor league batters.
