  2. Please be Dalton Pompey.. which will have to wait. Ryan Goins is coming up..
  3. Fielder's Choice because Travis beat the throw to 2nd.
  4. 5 HRs for Sanchez in 48 ABs.. he is the real deal. ANd he's permanently going to be the starting catcher for a while--Girardi has said he's the primary regular, with Romine backing up and McCann DHing until he's traded..
  5. ANd under contract by ESPN--he can't take a full time role with Sportsnet right now.
  6. Anyone got something to make Kevin Barker shut up? Ugh... 12 unanswered runs.. the Yanks are going to be busy calling guys up from Scranton tonight after this disaster as their bullpen is taxed.. and it's going to be either Parker or a position player in the 9th (Cessa threw 50 pitches on Sunday and Betances won't be used in a 6 run deficit).
  7. It's a slump. Happens all the time in baseball--just wish it wasn't everyone at the same time. And I am cheering for Boston--I want Baltimore out of the playoff mix altogether--they can go f*** themselves, and I hope Houston and Washington slaughter the O's after this series with Boston.
  8. Tonight's lineup Travis 2B Donaldson 3B Encarnacion 1B Saunders DH Tulowitzki SS Martin C Ceciliani LF Upton CF Carrera RF Lake DFAd.
  9. My guess is Pompey hasn't been called up because the Jays want to make sure he has properly developed--JBJ of the Red Sox was the same way. Rushed to the majors, struggled, had to go back to AAA for quite a while. Once he had more AAA bats, he came back as one of the better players on the Red Sox (4.7 WAR, has a shot to hit 25 HR and possibly win a Gold Glove in CF). That, and he's had injury issues a lot this season. In addition, they want to be sure he's here to stay when he's up again in the MLB. He'll have a larger shot in 2017, when Bautista leaves/gets moved to DH/1B depending on what happens with he and EE.
  10. He's only won 1 start--vs. the Padres. Otherwise, he's been godawful (as a starter)--his future looks to be the bullpen, because he's been decent there..
  11. Questionable lineup for the Jays--but to be fair, Chad Green is awful.. how many HRs will go to the short porch tonight (he's given up 8 HR in 4 starts).
  12. Josh Phelps?? He was never a premium player--he flamed out after 2004.. basically becoming a AAAA guy. At least Reed Johnson had a solid career--and JP Riccardi was stupid to give him up because they thought a washed-up Shannon Stewart was better..
  13. Most likely prices went up because they plan to raise payroll substantially again--it likely means they will be aggressive on resigning Edwin. We can outbid Boston--who have payroll limits due to major arb raises expected to most of their roster which will drive payroll to $200M+, and owing $160M+ (including benefits) to just 7 players before arb raises and minimum players, and a need to add bullpen arms--they're losing Uehara, Tazawa, Ziegler at season's end, and still need at least another starter.. And don't forget, Boston is paying $22.27M for Craig and Castillo to rot in Pawtucket.. that's a lot of dead money on the budget.
  14. Bautista's headed for a 1-year deal with incentives, with the Jays or somebody else. No chance he gets $20M.. and $15M may even be a stretch. He's no longer a premium player and should only be in the Jays plans if he'll play DH or 1B. He can't play OF anymore.. and hurts the team just playing RF or batting in a big spot in the lineup. Lake's stay will be short--Carrera is expected to be back on Tuesday, with Junior likely to be DFAd.
  15. Wow, Gausman is awful tonight-- 4IP, 2H, 2ER, 6BB, 9Ks. How he only gave up 2 runs is a real mystery.. and they had Yovani Gallardo PH for him (WTF? 5 bench players and they PH Gausman with a pitcher?)
  16. Too bad unless Boston develops pitching, Pedroia and Bogaerts will be the only one who will have seen or will see a World Series (2013). Boston hasn't developed a quality starter since Lester. Examples of Boston's poor pitching development over the years: Felix Doubront Brian Johnson (not sure about that yet) Henry Owens (he of the 5.8 BB/9IP in Pawtucket) Anthony Ranaudo Trey Ball Pat Light Edwin Escobar (Giants prospect actually--but still a bust) Allen Webster Brandon Workman Drake Britton Stolmy Pimentel Pretty long list of bad pitchers.. meanwhile, Toronto has Sanchez and Stroman, and developed good pitchers who were traded to other orgs. for offense or veteran pitchers, such as Musgrove, Syndergaard (whose Mets suck again BTW and we've beaten this to the ground already--sure it helped the Mets get to the World Series, but they're back to not hitting again, making Syndergaard basically wasted in NY), Nicolino, Alvarez (who we'll likely never see again due to his shoulder injuries.) And the Sox have to win now--they're going to be in serious trouble in 2018 if the Yanks core develops.. they're in better shape than Boston. By then, Boston will be back towards the AL East basement because they're paying a post-prime Price and lack depth in SP and RP on the farm--with no real help in sight.
  17. I was at the game. Sanchez was dealing.. and great to see Martin's HR. Now go Giants! We want 1st place, and Baltimore to sink in the standings.. even if it helps Boston (as long as the Jays keep winning).
  18. Yeah.. they obviously picked Maddon as #1 manager, because the Cubs are stacked--though in reality, the Cubs are actually underperforming their record due to erraticness with their pen and Maddon's weird managing style. If Farrell's in the Top 10, this article should be ignored.. Showalter's probably near the top--he does a good job managing a team that should be bad, but always outperforms its record..
  19. Featuring Brad Wilkerson and Kevin Mench, a washed up Shannon Stewart, David Eckstein.. and little power. If they only had some power, at least makes the wild card.. though this was back when Boston was stacked and the Rays reached their only World Series they'll ever see in Tampa..
