  1. What a night for current and former Mariners! Franklin Gutierrez 3-4, 6 RBIs 2 HR, 1 2B(all off former Mariner Roenis Elias) Michael Saunders 3-4, 8 RBIs, 3 HR
  2. Good god Ubaldo Jimenez is bad.. if he doesn't get DFAd after this, I'll be shocked.
  3. He'll be back after the 15 days most likely..
  4. I agree. Bautista has done basically very little this year.. sure he has 12 HR and walks a ton, but his D in RF continues to worsen, he's leading the league in GIDP (12), and at his age, he's going to get worse, not better offensively and defensively.
  5. On the plus side, the defense will be better.. Zeke, despite all the hate, is actually not that bad defensively in RF. Plus, we need a backup CF right now--Pillar's going to need a day off soon. And Bautista hasn't hit much this year despite the walks--he's hitting .222 in June, and only 1 HR.. it's almost like he's already left Toronto as is.. Might as well give Pompey/Ceciliiani/Carrera a chance..
  6. As I expected. Cecil needs to come back soon.. and Burns is only likely up until Tulo is healthy.
  7. Girodo and either Pompey/Burns gets called up for tomorrow.. Wade LeBlanc is starting tonight for the Bisons.
  8. Then they should get Pompey up here if he needs a DL stint...
  9. Saunders out of the game--injury or blowout situation?
  10. Not usually. It's getaway day, and that Swing into Summer Safety day going on. Jays head to Philly, then Baltimore next.. then a day off, home to play the D-Backs, and another day off..
  11. Wow, Pillar with a rare homer off Eflin! 2-0 Jays.
  12. Swing into Summer Safety Day--that's why the early start. Lots of kids there and Sparky the Fire Dog..
  13. Hopefully our hitters adjust better to Eflin than they did with Eickhoff..
  14. Just to let you know, I use Roster Resource to find out about bullpen usage in recent days.. that's how I got the numbers.
  15. Bautista back, EE off today, Martin off due to Dickey pitching: 1 DH J. Bautista ® 2 3B J. Donaldson ® 3 LF M. Saunders (L) 4 1B J. Smoak ( 5 CF K. Pillar ® - 6 RF E. Carrera (L) 7 SS D. Barney ® 8 2B D. Travis 9 C J. Thole (L) SP R. Dickey ® And BTW, the Phillies lineup is UGLY... CF Herrera SS Galvis 3B Blanco 1B Joseph DH Howard C Ruiz LF Asche 2B Hernandez RF Bourjos SP Eichkoff No Franco because of a unknown injury from yesterday's game when he got into a rundown..
  16. And considering how overworked the O's pen is, it's questionable whether they'll be able to sustain their record, or will Toronto/Boston overtake them for good?
  17. And Boston plays Seattle after Baltimore, who are a dangerous team.. despite losing 7 of their last 10, they've got some serious power.. and Boston's pitching has been awful as of late outside of Price and Wright.
  18. Try looking at how many pitches they've thrown--IP isn't completely reliable, as it doesn't show how many pitches thrown. Looking at the pen: Grilli unlikely to be available tonight (back-to-back days, threw 28 pitches yesterday) Chavez out (22 pitches) Venditte unavailable after throwing 33 yesterday and likely to be the corresponding move to AAA for Diamond. Osuna has not pitched Saturday and Sunday (likely rest) Based on this, the pen is down to Osuna, Biagini, Loup, Storen, Floyd tonight.. hence why the Jays are bringing up Diamond to be insurance in case Dickey or Stroman struggle.
  19. By a mile too--2nd fewest innings by a contending team for their starters (340 IP--only Kansas City is worse). Worse, the O's pen is going to get even more overused, as they have games to make up with the Rangers and Rays next week, along with their games with the Red Sox and Jays coming up.
  20. There are other options Chicago could go after with teams out of contention or likely to be out of it--like Carlos Beltran (Yankees), Josh Reddick (A's), Nick Markakis (Braves), Jay Bruce (Reds), Carlos Gonzalez (Rockies). Jays aren't giving up Bautista while in contention--I mean, with a good week this week(4 with Philly, 3 with the O's), we could be leading the division or in the 1st wild card by next weekend if they don't struggle.
  21. Groome will be tough to sign--his rumored demands will make it difficult for Boston to draft anyone else without risking losing draft picks in future years. I've heard rumors of upwards of $7M demanded: http://nypost.com/2016/06/09/jason-groome-falls-from-no-1-prospect-to-no-12-pick-in-draft/
  22. Apparently, the sound effects person at the Rogers Centre jumped the gun a little..
