  1. And don't forget Cubs/Astros (no chance Houston is winning that series against an 89-49 team that could clinch within the next week--Astros playoff hopes could end right here) and the Yankees/Rays. KC gets the White Sox.
  2. True, but Bautista and Travis are healthy--they were hurt in that series. Still think one of the Red Sox or O's (or both) collapse..
  3. Remember, Boston, Baltimore and NY have to play each other along with Toronto.. nobody in the AL East is guaranteed to win anything at this point. It's still possible Detroit, Houston, and the Yankees could sneak in at two of those team's expense.
  4. True--however, the O's play the Tigers this weekend and the Red Sox after that.. so someone has to lose ground in that race between those teams. And Houston's chances are going to likely come to an end this weekend--they play the top-rated Chicago Cubs, then the Rangers after that.. Really, the AL East teams are basically in the driver's seat.. Jays just need to wake up and start winning. Plus, we head home after today's game.. and we still have a road trip to LA and SEA against out-of-contention teams.
  5. And that team is more at risk of a collapse due to a bad bullpen.. and the offense has been struggling recently. And yes, we need a win tomorrow--Bryan Mitchell is likely to be on a pitch count having not started much this year.. and we won't see Betances tomorrow (3 days in a row).
  6. Smoak's not going to get much playing time after that lousy performance.. and Grilli just had a bad night. Yanks just won't give up.. and the way the sked looks, the race is going to get even tighter. Toronto's not the only team that needs to worry--Boston has been struggling just as badly. And that team is more of a risk of a collapse.. the team's offense has been dead the last 2 games (and tonight's game so far as well.), don't play well vs. the East, and plays the Jays, O's and Yankees heavily after San Diego..
  7. Good riddance to the Trop for the season.. hopefully we clobber the Rays at Rogers Centre when they come over. Onto New York to face a struggling Yankees team..
  8. Congrats for 1000 Ks for Benoit. Now we need a run here so Grilli and Osuna can close it out and we can salvage a game at this dump.
  9. We'll win the East--we still have games against bad teams in Seattle(2-8 in last 10 and pretty much out of the race) and LA, plus we dominate the Yankees, who are starving for offense right now.. and we've done well vs. the O's at home. Boston's the real test--but remember, the pitching issues are still there. Don't let a crappy Oakland team fool anyone--the Sox need to pitch well against contenders if they have any shot of winning the East or even making the playoffs. That bullpen is still a problem.
  10. Every time we go to this damn ballpark...
  11. Ugh, that turf is UGLY... that shot of Kiermaier there showed how gross it is, unlike Toronto's...
  12. At this point, Saunders is playing himself out of Toronto's plans... can they give Pompey a shot when Jose DHs?
  13. Snell walks too many (5.3BB/9IP), and no idea on Archer.
  14. It's going to happen sooner or later.. especially as the expensive years approach and the team's attendance continues to drop. It should be also noted that Longoria's contract is heavily backloaded.. and his value right now will never be higher, as he's having his best year since his early seasons.
  15. Neither Blake Snell or Chris Archer are pitching well.. especially Archer. Cobb was dominant when healthy..
  16. Not gonna happen-- Forsythe, several pitchers and possibly Longoria will be dealt this offseason. Low attendance = no chance of keeping this team together.. Rays don't have any money to even think about keeping this roster together with arb raises coming.
  17. Wow, bad D by the Rays--remember when this team had one of the best Ds in the game when they were making the playoffs and going to the World Series?
  18. Catwalks again.. please move this team already!
  19. Not yet. But they averaged under 13K in August..it's not looking good for the franchise's future.
  20. Expos-level attendance tonight in Tampa based on what I see.. I know there's a hurricane, but this is pretty bad..
  21. According to Wilner, the storm isn't going to hit St. Pete..
  22. Porcello is far from done--he's only 27 and can still improve. David Price is more uncertain--his stuff is set to decline, especially with so much mileage on that arm. Wright is definitely done as a starter--as a swingman in a role similar to Tim Wakefield, he'd be fine.. but Boston must upgrade the rotation in the offseason. And Pomeranz and E-Rod are still there. But yes, the Sox farm is very thin in pitching.. Kopech and Groome are years away, and most of the system is full of guys who don't project as high-calibre arms.
  23. Depends if Texas can beat Boston, Detroit, Houston, KC or even the Yankees in the playoffs, depending who gets the wild card.
  24. Providing the Red Sox or Rangers don't stop them first--right now,the seeding as of today: 1. Rangers 79-54 2. Indians 75-56 3. Blue Jays 75-57 WILD CARD: Red Sox 73-59 (+1.0 GB) Orioles 72-60 Tigers 71-61 (1 GB) Astros 70-62 (2 GB) Royals 69-63 (3.0 GB) Yankees 68-63 (3.5 GB) So basically, the matchups are: Toronto vs. Cleveland Texas vs. WC team No guarantee the Royals make the playoffs--I'd be more worried about the Astros or Tigers overtaking the Red Sox and O's.. and keep an eye on the Yanks and Royals as well.
