  1. Tanaka does seem to have issues with the HR ball, however. He's already giving up 1 per start. Tonight's one against Schoop actually did hurt him, otherwise, he could've actually have won this game. Oh, and regarding that HR.. it was a splitter WAY up in the strike zone. Wonder if teams are taking notes on Tanaka regarding this..
  2. Tanaka tonight: The good: 10Ks The bad: 7 H, 3 ER (3 run homer by Schoop) And he ends up with a no decision..and the Yanks are in trouble in this game as we speak after our old friend Kelly Johnson committed an error missing a catch at 1B.
  3. Yet another elbow injury? Man, it's an epidemic this year. What is with pitchers these days? What happened to their toughness?
  4. He's easily going to have 10Ks tonight.. Astros have no plate discipline!
  5. Angels season is already in danger of going off the rails due to pitching problems, and now this: MLB ‏@MLB 30m MRI on Angels OF Josh Hamilton reveals complete tear of UCL in left thumb and torn capsule. He is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.
  6. D-Backs lose AGAIN.. now 1-7 on the season. Patrick Corbin's injury has really hurt. How long a leash for Kirk Gibson? And when will we see Archie Bradley? They're hitting.. but it's been offset by the team's awful pitching staff, with McCarthy, Delgado and the bullpen being major offenders.
  7. Bad news for the Red Sox at 3rd: Brian MacPherson ‏@brianmacp Middlebrooks has a strained calf. Will go for an MRI in the morning. 15-day DL looks like a certainty. Could we see Garin Cecchini? (more likely it'll be Brock Holt, Brandon Snyder, or former Jay Mike McCoy..)
  8. Only problem is that the Yanks have very little of value to trade outside of Gary Sanchez for a big bat.
  9. 92 runs are hard to replace with Ellsbury gone. Not helping is the injury to Shane Victorino as well. He's probably the best hope for Boston to fix the leadoff problem, if his 2013 numbers carry over, which is not guaranteed, especially if he can't stay healthy.
  10. That Yankees rotation should actually be Tanaka Pineda Kuroda Sabathia Nova Sabathia is no longer an ace, and Nova is too wildly inconsistent to be considered a #3.
  11. True, but that's only IF the offense wakes up. Only McCann and Ellsbury have produced so far. And I don't expect Solarte to continue his strong performance, especially once MLB pitchers get scouting reports on him.
  12. They might have to. He'd probably be their best option, because Nava, Gomes and Sizemore(due to injury history) aren't. And Bradley's not MLB ready.
  13. Rays won again vs. Texas. That team is really good. Aren't we glad we managed a split? Texas is already in danger of getting swept, pending what happens with Yu Darvish tomorrow, vs. Alex Cobb. Orioles are garbage, as expected from Fangraphs and PECOTA. Their pitching is pretty awful. Detroit has exposed them badly, already scoring 16 runs off of them. Outside of Tillman, their pitching has been terrible, with Norris, Gonzalez and Chen getting lit up heavily. (28 RA through 5 games)
  14. If only Boston could find a leadoff guy.. Sizemore (0-4 tonight with a BB), Nava and Gomes have not been able to produce at the leadoff position, which has caused Boston's offense to suffer as a result. Don't expect them to lead in runs again like last year, unless they fix this problem. Pretty much the opposite of the Yanks, who have production in the top and bottom of the order, but they struggle to score due to the middle of the order being garbage(Soriano, Beltran) or injured(Tex). Ellsbury is hitting, but guys like Jeter, Beltran, and Alfonso Soriano are not pulling their weight.
  15. Here's a good reason Boston didn't want Stephen Drew back: Xander Bogaerts .438 AVG, 7-16, 4 BBs, 2 Ks, no HR or RBIs (yet). Pretty good start for his young career.
  16. You're welcome. Oh, and Badenhop was pulled for Andrew Miller vs. Scooter Gennett.
  17. Game now in the 11th, 6-6 tie. Very strong bullpen by the Sox, with 13 Ks since Buchholz was removed from the game. Unfortunately, Badenhop just gave up a double to (K)hris(not Chris) Davis, and Logan Schafer just gave the Brewers the lead with another double. K-Rod will likely be in to close out the 11th.
  18. Buchholz looks a little off tonight. He's already given up HRs to Mark Reynolds and Carlos Gomez.
  19. This has to be the slowest game in recent memory. Mid 3rd and they've played for 1.5 hours so far...
  20. Dumb replay. Now Solarte knocks McGowan out with a 2 run double.
  21. These intros take forever.. it'll be 7:30 by first pitch.
  22. How long until Kirk Gibson gets fired? His team is awful.
  23. Pretty much. That, and he struggled late in the season (3.80 ERA, 1.479 WHIP in the 2nd half)
  24. And you wonder why the Cards replaced him with Rosenthal late in the season and in the playoffs.
  25. Detroit annihilated the Orioles 10-4. Miguel Gonzalez was terrible, giving up 7 ER (2 HRs) on 9 hits, and the bullpen coughed up 3 more. So far, all those acquisitions this offseason have not offset the O's crappy pitching. At the current rate, Gausman will be up sooner than later. Ryan Webb has a 15.43 ERA so far with the O's.
