  1. Good news regarding Lind: Ben Nicholson-Smith ‏@bnicholsonsmith Adam Lind in walking boot for 5-7 days per #BlueJays. Should be back in games within 2-3 weeks.
  2. We're only 1.5 and 3 games out of the wild card and division. And most of our injured players, excluding Lind, will be back shortly after the break.
  3. Mariners lost last night, meaning the Jays are only 1.5 out of the wild card. Worse for the Mariners, their next two series are the dreaded Angels and A's, teams who are far superior to the Mariners. They also lost Michael Saunders to an oblique injury.. guess they shouldn't have let Cole Gillespie go, although he's garbage no matter where he is.
  4. Considering his power and gawdy walk totals, he deserves a shot. Still, we should be looking for an upgrade like Chase Headley, for example, ASAP.
  5. Jays could move up on the Royals tonight. Tigers are mauling the Royals 14-2 in the 5th inning.. a well balanced attack by the Tigers. Right now, our best bets are to catch Baltimore and/or Seattle..
  6. True, but the Astros are going to get better. They just did a number on the Rangers earlier this week. The problem is that Seattle's record is unsustainable due to it lack of offense (14th in AVG, most of their runs come from Seager and Cano, don't walk, and I expect regression from James Jones, their CF). The other issue is that Ronias Elias is approaching innings limits, Young is going to regress, and who knows what they'll get from Walker, Ramirez, Maurer.. basically, King Felix and Iwakuma basically have to carry this team.
  7. O's win.. *sigh*. On to the Mariners/Twins game.. we're only 2 back of Seattle, and more likely to catch them because they have to face elite teams like the Angels and A's. Go Twins1
  8. Luckily for Quintana, the White Sox came back and tied the game on a HR by Conor Gillaspie off Koji Uehara.
  9. Part of the reason I said the NL Central is still up for grabs. The Brewers pen has been overused due to the Brewers insistence of keeping Rule 5 pick Wei-Chung Wang, preventing them from getting a Todd Redmond long-relief type in their pen, burning out their relievers. A Brew Crew loss and the Cards are only 1.5 back, Reds 2.5 back and Pirates 4.0 GB, pending the Pirates/Cards game tonight. Of course, with the Yadi Molina injury and Brandon Phillips injury, it's anybody's guess.
  10. Injuries not limited to the Yankees or AL Central either: ANGELS: CJ Wilson to DL, Maronde DFAd, Drew Rucinski recalled Cam Bedrosian optioned You can bet the Angels will be looking for an arm on the trade market ASAP. Maybe they can ask the Red Sox about Peavy?
  11. No kidding. And with Baltimore's upcoming deadly west coast swing and overall difficult 2nd half sked, the Jays have a good shot to make a run in the East if they can hit.. we have the weakest schedule in the AL from here until season's end. Oh and Solarte recalled due to Beltran's injury. They have Zealous Wheeler playing RF tonight.. watch the game on Sportsnet BTW.
  12. Yadier Molina out 8-12 weeks with a torn ligament in his thumb! Pirates, Brewers and Reds fans just got really excited.. now the NL Central is up for grabs.
  13. Only if you think AJ Jimenez is ready, or you expect Erik Kratz as a starter.
  14. There are worse teams than Toronto.
  15. I don't care for the loss column, as many of these teams with fewer losses have also played fewer games and have games to make up. As for the Mariners, this team is bound for significant regression in the 2nd half. Elias, Young, Maurer are all candidates to regress, and this team needs another bat just to stay in contention, as Seager and Cano can't do it all themselves, especially with the moves the Angels and A's made. BTW, their next 6 games are vs. the Angels and A's. The AL is going to get even more messed up if the A's and Angels beat up on the Mariners.
  16. Good question regarding the arms. Don't forget we also have Sanchez, Norris and Nolin in AAA and AA, and Morrow returning. We have a cakewalk of a schedule post-All Star break. Of course, it won't matter if we don't start hitting consistently, while the O's are heading for the same deadly stretch of AL West teams we just faced, which could very easily derail their contention hopes if the Yanks, Rays or Jays get hot.
  17. However, Baltimore will be really tested when they face elite AL West teams in the 2nd half.. for some reason, I do not see them as a contender.
  18. Boston and Tampa have injury concerns as well.
  19. Jacoby Ellsbury finally breaks the tie in the 14th..
  20. At the rate the Yankees/Indians game is going, LeBron might sign with the Heat or Cavs before this game ends. Oh, and Seattle is getting blown out by the Twins. Remember, we're chasing Seattle as well, who is more catchable than the Angels, as even with their pitching, it is questionable whether their hitting and some of their young arms (Elias, Walker) and Chris Young will hold up in the 2nd half.
  21. Yanks/Indians are in the 12th. Indians have the advantage though, as the Yanks pen is down to Jim Miller and Chase Whitley(likely in an emergency only.. he's expected to start Sunday.)
  22. Here's why I don't think the Rays are legit... their bullpen is really taxed from earlier in the season (301.1IP in 91 games.) That said, their bullpen blew a lead tonight vs. KC, as Joel Peralta and Kirby Yates combined to blow a 4-2 lead to lose 5-4 on a Sal Perez HR. Like the Jays, the Rays aren't scoring with RISP either (1 for 9, 11 LOB). They drew 7 walks with their 8 hits (half by Kevin Kiermaier) and STILL lost.
  23. Still at least a year away though. Meanwhile, Cherington might not last long enough to build his vision of a team in Boston, as the current Sox team is worse off now than it was in 2011 and 2012. Collapsing from a World Series to last place will almost certainly cost a GM and coaches their jobs. Red Sox ownership is likely to make big changes this offseason.. don't be surprised if they try to sell the farm to get someone like Giancarlo Stanton, similar to what they did with Adrian Gonzalez.
  24. Bet Gibbons isn't happy about Lind's broken toe. Paging Dan Johnson..
  25. Paging Dan Johnson.. I expect he'll be here for the Tampa series (ironic he might be there for the Tampa series.. this is the same guy who hit the HR in 2011 where the Rays came back from a huge deficit vs. the Yankees on the final game of the season, of which later Longoria would hit a walk-off HR to send Tampa to the ALDS.. and cost Francona and Epstein their jobs.
