  1. 12-16(compared to our 14-12) post All-Star break doesn't inspire confidence. And Sanchez is on the DL, and Verlander may end up there too. Don't ask about the offense.
  2. Yes. And worse, the Angels are even more threatened by the Mariners, as they have games left vs. them, and just lost Skaggs to the dreaded Tommy John, and lack the depth beyond Weaver and Richards to make a deep run.
  3. Navarro grounds out.. still, a 1-0 lead to start. Time for the Stro show. We need this win.. so we can pick up .5 a game on Seattle (who leads 5-1 vs. the plunging Tigers, who have had even more issues than the Jays and Yankees)
  4. Rays lead 2-0 on the Yankees. If the Yankees get swept this weekend, it could narrow the race to between the Jays, Tigers and Mariners for the 2nd wild card (and the Angels could still drop.. they've got games left vs. the Mariners and A's.) Luckily, this is unlikely to happen, due to their games vs. the hapless Rangers and the Astros.
  5. Seattle clobbering the Tigers 4-1 early on. Porcello is struggling with command.. and the Tigers desperately need wins, as the Royals get a cakewalk of a Twins team this weekend, which could stretch the Royals lead.
  6. With those numbers, we will definitely see him in September. And on that same topic, we might also see Kendall Graveman as well, as he is dominating AAA as well with a 1.42 ERA, 10/3 K/BB ratio.
  7. To anyone who thought I said there was no pitching for the Mariners besides Iwakuma and King Felix.. I never said that. It was the offense that was an issue.. but it seems to have improved with the acquisitions of Denorfia, Morales, and Jackson. We aren't the only team suffering.. thanks to the Mariners win, the Tigers are now in real danger of falling out of the playoff race as well, falling into a tie with the Seattle Mariners, who they play this weekend, and the Mariners are only 1 down in the loss column on the Tigers as well.
  8. That wasn't a winnable series by any means. Have you even seen the Mariners pitching?
  9. And as you said it, Ackley just lined out. 1-1 at the end of 3.
  10. Worst defense ever! A ball just dropped right near Carrera.. most CFs would catch that. Is anyone watching the Tigers/Pirates game on SN1?
  11. And Syndergaard and Woj, who we turned into RA Dickey and JA Happ.. And before you say anything, Woj has a 6.22 ERA in AAA this year. And we all know about Syndergaard, who despite decent K numbers, still has command issues (.304 AVG in AAA) and was recently bypassed by Rafael Montero for a callup.
  12. Actually, for the time being, we can put him on the 60-day DL if we need a 40-man spot.
  13. Josh Sale is still doing stupid stuff and killing what could've been a good career:
  14. Having trouble embedding tweets.. Too bad for Wagner.. but Gibbons partially is to blame for running him out for 40+ pitches in one inning.
  15. Rogers may be DFAd on Wednesday. Pineda is coming off the DL.
  16. Luckily for the Jays and their fans, Mills will not be seen again, as he was DFAd after the game. He was basically just there to allow the bullpen to have a breather and mop up if the game was a blow out. Lind will replace Mills on the roster tonight.
  17. Bye bye first place and Verlander for the Tigers, as it looks like it could be a serious shoulder injury based on his velocity.. Buster Olney ✔ @Buster_ESPN One evaluator had Verlander's fastball at 88-90 mph tonight. And to add insult to injury, the Royals win 3-2 vs. the A's. Royals now lead the AL Central, Jays/Mariners now chasing the Tigers for the 2nd wild card. What a fall from grace for Detroit.
  18. And someone tell the Yanks to start hitting. Right now, it's a three team race between Detroit/KC, Toronto and Seattle for the 2nd wild card (and maybe the 1st wild card if the Angels continue to stumble.)
  19. Rest day. He's fine. After playing 19 innings, he and Cabrera are being rested, with Cabrera DHing and Gose in LF.
  20. Man, Krol, Miller and Whelan have been ineffective vs. the Pirates. How are the Tigers going to finish the last two innings? Send Romine out to pitch?
