  1. Shark was terrible vs. the awful Mets: 3.2 IP, 7H, 7ER, 2BB, 3K, 2 HRs Not the kind of outing the A's need.. especially with a huge series vs. the Angels this weekend.
  2. Yes. The Tigers have gotten worse since the Price trade, and could actually miss the playoffs. And the A's have lost 1st place since the trades. And the Dodgers were forced to trade for pitching because injuries have decimated their MLB and AAA rotations.
  3. Yankees aren't contenders. Their moves haven't even got them close to the 2nd wild card, as they are down 4 in the wild card.
  4. No sense leaving him in AA if he's not being challenged. If he can dominate AA pitchers, he deserves the promotion. And with Rasmus likely gone next season, it's good to see we have our top OF prospect getting close. Do resign Cabrera, though..
  5. If Mookie Betts can be aggressively promoted in the Red Sox system because he plays well, so can Pompey. I see no problem in this, especially with him doing well in AA. He's gotta be an upgrade over Mastro in AAA..
  6. Likely has more to do with the ballpark and facilities.
  7. Beeston's likely gone(retiring), AA's on the bubble depending how the season ends, and Gibbons I have no idea.
  8. Hey, at least we've won a World Series in our history. Cubs fans wait and wait and wait for a championship that never comes.. 108 years and counting.
  9. Of course, it helps that the Giants and Cardinals have been major disappointments as well, and Pittsburgh continues to have consistency problems with their pitching. Still have the Braves to worry about, though.
  10. Royals have tons of those.. have you seen their bullpen? Too bad they can't develop a decent power hitter. That lineup is going to have trouble facing the O's in October (currently in line to play Baltimore in the ALDS)
  11. And the Royals, even if they make the playoffs, are going to pay for it long term.. James Shields is a free agent after this season, and the Royals have concerns with the offense long-term as well.
  12. Hate to say it but **** this team. I'm keeping an eye on the Mariners and Royals. Oh, and the Brewers are sure doubling their pleasure and fun.. 7 doubles tonight! Either that's due to bad D, poor pitching, or this weird ballpark, which is a hitter's park.
  13. Detroit continues to flounder.. down 4-0 to the Rays. Royals are starting to think about a division title right now..
  14. Mariners up 2-0 early on. AJ Burnett is SO slow.. Mariners hitters are running wild on him (3 SB so far)
  15. At least he hits enough that he can play regularly, and is not a liability like Jackie Bradley Jr. of the Red Sox, whose lack of offense is going to hurt any chance of him being a regular unless he changes his swing.
  16. Orioles move Ubaldo Jimenez to the bullpen. What a waste of $50M.. and to think Jays fans wanted him.
  17. Still, the Tigers are not a good organization with handling young prospects. None of their prospects since 2011 have panned out. And their 2010 draft has been their last good draft.. Nick Castellanos and Drew Smyly came out of that draft.. of course, Smyly is now in Tampa for 1.5 years of David Price. How is this Tigers team going to manage when Mike Ilitch's money disappears when he passes? This could be a disaster in waiting within coming years, especially if Miguel Cabrera goes into decline, and we're already seeing it with Verlander. Heck, the fur could really fly if the Tigers miss the playoffs, which they might, as they're currently barely hanging on a wild card spot (they'd play a 1-game playoff with Seattle for the 2nd wild card as it stands.)
  18. Apparently, Bradley's bat is deficient too.. 0-5 with 2Ks in Pawtucket in SWB's win tonight 2-0. Pawtucket's staff has their work cut out for them on Bradley's bat. The bat was the main reason Jackie Bradley got sent down.. no sense keeping him up with better options in Cespeds/Holt/Betts/Craig in the system who actually hit.
  19. Erik Kratz has 2 HRs tonight.. but they're against the pathetic Twins. And he's only playing because Sal Perez left with a knee injury. Hopefully it's not a long term one.. as Jays fans know, Erik Kratz isn't exactly a catch that can play everyday, as his bat isn't close to Perez's.
  20. Remember when Buck Farmer was up recently for the Tigers? Well, he got lit up in his first AAA start: 0.1 IP, 5 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 3BB, 0K, 189.00 ERA. How did this guy do passably vs. the Pirates last week? Guess it shows why you don't jump guys from A+ ball so early..
  21. Here's a full explanation WHY JBJ got sent down, according to NESN: http://nesn.com/2014/08/jackie-bradley-jr-s-demotion-not-a-reactionary-move-by-boston-red-sox/ Some of the highlights: -Lack of consistency -Recent 0-35 slump and decreased playing time to Brock Holt/Mookie Betts -MILB options remaining -.216/.288/.290 (ugly line!) -Needs regular at-bats in AAA
  22. 2.1 dWAR for Bradley Jr. If Boston was a better offensive team, they could manage him in the lineup. Unfortunately, the big number for Boston is -0.3 oWAR, which they cannot afford to carry in the lineup. In addition, Boston wants to see what they have in Mookie Betts and Brock Holt in CF, rather than continue to waste ABs on Jackie Bradley Jr. in Boston, as he is seen more as a 4th outfielder or defensive replacement, and likely will be dealt this offseason as part of a package for a bat.. David Ortiz isn't going to last forever, and they desperately need offensive help in Boston if they're going to contend in 2015 and beyond.
  23. A fall from grace for Jackie Bradley Jr... Red Sox optioned him to AAA and called Mookie Betts up. So much for being Jacoby Ellsbury's heir apparent.. Red Sox fans and media are now saying he's no more than a 4th outfielder.
  24. BTW, the Bisons are only a game out of the loss column for a wild card spot in the IL, but still well back of Syracuse (Washington's AAA team). They're more likely to make the playoffs than the big league club.
  25. Almost certainly a September call-up candidate along with Norris. The Jays have a bright future with their pitching staff.
