  1. Welcome back Luis Perez to Toronto.. whether he contributes is another question:
  2. All the Rogers Centre really needs is grass..
  3. Montreal will probably get a team before Toronto gets a new stadium.. and no new stadiums are currently on the horizon in MLB after Atlanta, with the San Jose situation going nowhere and the Rays getting no closer to getting a new stadium. Only the LA Angels may have a shot at a new stadium.. their ownership is threatening to build a new stadium without significant concessions from Anaheim regarding Angel Stadium.
  4. Nice idea but unrealistic. Remember the mess that Exhibition Stadium was due to lake breezes?
  5. A new stadium is still at least 10-20 years away. Besides, MLB is more worried about the Tampa and Oakland situations right now.
  6. I was surprised he didn't take the fall for the 91 losses last year. And Cherington deserves blame too for not having decent backup plans in case JBJ, Middlebrooks and Bogaerts disappointed.
  7. Watch him get traded along with other prospects for an ace or expensive pitcher at the deadline, especially when/if Farrell and Cherington are fired at mid-season if the team struggles, and ownership orders big moves to get the team back to the playoffs.. they won't be patient again if the team struggles, especially with $190M+ being spent.. Look, if these big moves fail to get the team back to contention, Farrell and Cherington will not last the season. Two 90 loss seasons (with a fluky World Series win in between) are not good for ticket sales on a big market team like Boston.
  8. My question to Beeston is whether they're going to acquire one of the remaining relievers in free agency. I mean, we're at the point many of them are affordable now out of desperation to sign a deal before Spring Training starts 2 weeks from now.
  9. His peripherals show that he should've been worse, with FIPs in the 5s. He is a piece of s***. And he's no guarantee to make the team.. Milwaukee is still trying for Papelbon or a K-rod reunion.
  10. Epstein sure loves former Red Sox pitchers, claiming Drake Britton off Red Sox waivers, DFAing Gonzalez Germen.. Now the Cubs have Lester, Doubront, Britton, Rizzo, Ross, Sweeney, Herrera.. at this rate, I expect one of Victorino/Nava/Craig/Bradley to be with the Cubs by Opening Day.
  11. He must be pretty bad. Watch some bad team (Phillies possibly?) take a shot at him for $550K+ (minimum MLB salary). No, the Jays should stay away from him.. he can't defend in the OF.. but if he was used at 1B, he might be worth a shot.. but we have enough of those (1B).
  12. Also forgot that the Royals are also out on him.
  13. Red Sox, Yankees, D-Backs and Cardinals are not interested or out on Shields. Who's going to sign him? Us? Padres? Marlins?
  14. Josh Hamilton's career continues to dive with the Angels:
  15. Reimold back with Orioles, Lombardozzi out to Pittsburgh for cash. Why would they bring back Reimold?? And Lombardozzi's trade thins out Baltimore's minors depth..
  16. Wherever Yoan Moncada signs, the team signing him won't be able to sign international free agents for a year after signing him due to international spending caps, which Moncada is expected to blow past. Lots of teams will be in on him.. no guarantees the Yankees get him.
  17. Considering there's very little pitching depth in Colorado, he thought he had the best chance there.
  18. Pretty much. Even the Jays, who need a closer, don't want him. (BTW, one of my coworkers is related to him.) Pitching depth in Colorado is pretty bad.. and Axford is no guarantee to make the team either.
  19. Actually, AA and other teams may have been scared off by Axford's control issues (5.9 BB/9IP last season). Of course, the Rockies have a lot of trouble with their pitching..
  20. Axford to the Rockies on a minors deal. Wonder why the Jays didn't want him?
  21. That's probably why he backed out of the Toronto deal, because Tampa is even more desperate for arms that Toronto.. their bullpen is thin.
  22. Drake Britton DFAd for Ogando.
  23. Only if he stays healthy, as he's missed chunks of 2013 and 2014. Boston is also looking to trade Mujica as well, likely to reduce their luxury tax bill they are facing and to get Ogando and Ross on the team.
  24. Mujica on the trade block:
