  1. Zito's back with the A's (minors deal.) Bruce Chen signed with the Indians, BTW. So Jays fan don't need to worry about AA going after him.
  2. Except when they blow up, which Victorino, Napoli, several relievers acquired through trade, Peavy, Pierzynski, Drew (2nd time), Sizemore.. you were being sarcastic, right? Sure, they won a World Series.. but that was mostly Theo's team. We knew the team would decline without Ellsbury.. but who knew Bradley would be a bust, Middlebrooks couldn't stay healthy, Bogaerts struggled, Mike Carp turned back into the AAAA player he was, and Victorino returned to being injury-prone. And don't get me started on Doubront and Buchholz..
  3. At least Buehrle is gone after this season. And Profar is heading towards bust material.. especially now that he's blocked by Andrus and Odor.
  4. Bullpen yes, but Scherzer would've been an awful signing, especially once his velocity declines.. Washington is going to regret that signing. And what does that make Boston? Their rotation lacks an ace or one with ace potential. And will that groundball rotation even work?
  5. Old article on FanGraphs' Rotographs site on DL projections for 2015.. and now you wonder why the Jays dealt Happ while his value was high, because his injury risk is high: http://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/2015-starting-pitcher-dl-projections/
  6. AL EAST: Red Sox 86--Under--not convinced on their moves, and Cherington's history with free agents and trades is not good (see Melancon, Bailey, Hanrahan, Peavy, and possibly the Lackey and Lester trades as well.) Orioles 84.5--Push to Under, depending on pitching and offensive regression. Blue Jays 83.5 OVER Yankees 80 Under Rays 77.5 OVER AL CENTRAL: Tigers-- UNDER Royals--Push White Sox--Push Indians--Over Twins--Over AL WEST Angels--Under Mariners--Over A's--Push Rangers--Push Astros--Over NL EAST Nationals--Push Marlins--Over Mets--Over Braves--Push Phillies--Push NL Central Cardinals--Push Pirates--Push Cubs--Push Brewers--Under Reds--Under NL WEST Dodgers--Under Giants--Push Padres--Push D-Backs--Push Rockies--slightly Over
  7. Nice to see that they have concerns about Boston's pitching, and the aging of Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz.. if they continue to regress, Boston will be a sub-.500 team, and Farrell, along with Cherington, will be looking for jobs by mid-season. After spending $190M+, it's playoffs or bust, especially with a major rebuild coming once Ortiz retires, as they have no suitable replacement for him in the system, and the prices in free agency and trade markets are way above what Boston can afford.. I know they're a big market team, but losing a 30/100 bat is going to hurt. None of HanRam, Sandoval, Betts can match that..
  8. Now if AJ Jimenez could stay healthy..
  9. K-Rod is garbage. (14 HRs given up! And I thought Cordero was bad. Oh, and despite a sub-1.00 WHIP, he is much worse than his peripherals showed, with a 4.50 FIP, with major regression coming.) Soriano must be asking for too much money if nobody has signed him by now.. he's still out there well into mid-February. As for Chamberlain, he sucks due to his frequent control problems..
  10. Rickie Weeks to the Mariners... but to play OF and 2B, mostly LF/RF. Jays fans can relax.. his 2B defense is horrible, hence the move to the OF.
  11. David Schoenfield's rankings 18-13... looks like the Jays will be in the upper tier. Not kind on the Tigers, though.. I mean, their window is closing fast as V-Mart/Cabrera/Verlander are regressing, their farm system is non-existent, the bullpen stinks, and eventually, they will face a massive fire sale the moment Mike Illitch passes away, as new ownership will likely dramatically slash payroll. http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/55028/ranking-the-teams-18-through-13-2
  12. Especially considering Boston will NOT give up Betts or Swihart for anybody, as they are major pieces for the Red Sox future. Remember, this Red Sox team faces turbulence after this season, with David Ortiz turning 40 and nearing the end, and no suitable replacement coming (Sandoval/HanRam won't cut it. Neither have the 30/100 power Ortiz has.), and no 1B replacement for Napoli after this season. And what happens if the rotation implodes in Boston?
  13. 2017 All Star Game going to Miami: http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mlb/miami-marlins/article9708716.html
  14. David Schoenfield's rankings 24-19.. Yanks expected to not contend, and Rays are questionable.. looks like it will likely be a battle between Toronto, Boston and Baltimore (as it stands): http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/54986/ranking-the-teams-24-through-19-2
  15. Here's a potential home for Navarro:
  16. David Schoenfield with his annual Spring Training Rankings, part 1 (30-25): http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/54964/ranking-the-teams-30-through-25-2 Rangers fans aren't going to like it.. the Astros are going to surpass the Rangers.
  17. Well, the economy has improved from 2010, and everything else went up in price, plus payroll has gone up, so it's understandable that prices would go up. Besides, it's still better than the greedfest at MLSE with the Leafs and Raptors, who have seen their ticket prices skyrocket.
  18. Blake Griffin out indefinitely with the same problem that knocked Alex Rios out in 2006:
  19. If the Cubs get him, they'll be a potential World Series threat if their young players (Bryant, Baez, Russell, etc.) emerge. But really, make up your mind, Shields! It's only 2 weeks until pitchers/catchers report!
  20. Plus we have to kick out the Argos first.
  21. Most likely he wasn't comfortable pitching in the AL East, and some of his peripherals are showing some signs of decline. That, and Boston seemed uninterested in bringing him back.
  22. Worst MLB contracts at present--no Jays on the list, not even Buehrle or Reyes. Yanks, Rangers and Angels dominate the list: http://grantland.com/features/worst-mlb-contracts-2015-alex-rodriguez-ryan-howard-prince-fielder/
  23. And meanwhile McGowan is STILL unsigned.
  24. Probably because the Jays knew he wouldn't pitch in 2014, which he didn't. He didn't throw a single inning for the Braves. If he's fully recovered, he has a decent shot to fight for a bullpen spot. But he's most likely Buffalo bound.
