  1. And that terrible start was when he was with the Astros, back when the Astros were stupidly trying to repeat the 2005 success instead of a full rebuild, which they eventually finally did in 2011-2012.. look where they are now, as the best team in the AL!
  2. James Loney to the 15-day DL, with Tim Beckham and Jake Elmore back up. How much longer can Tampa sustain its success with so many injuries before the rest of the AL East, including the Jays, catch up? And you thought the Jays had it bad with injuries..
  3. Nope. A -0.2 WAR shows the Jays did the right thing to let him go. A .239/.287/.270 split doesn't help either. And his May has been terrible.. what a waste of money for the White Sox, which will cost Ventura his job soon..
  4. As long as the Jays get a W I'll be happy.
  5. No surprises here. Goins/Tolleson will platoon 2B until Travis returns next week.
  6. This must be historic for the Royals... Guthrie produced possibly one of the worst outings in MLB history: 1.0+ IP, 9H, 11ER, 3BB, 1K, 4HR given up. Yanks are going to break their losing streak.. but it doesn't mean anything for the rest of the East right now, as we're all chasing Tampa and need them to lose to gain ground.
  7. Likely final line on Guthrie: 1.0 IP, 7H, 8ER, 2BB, 1K, 3 HRs given up (Gardner, Headley, McCann)
  8. Guthrie looks lost on the mound right now.. 5 runs in the first and still not out of the inning yet.
  9. Yeah.. but no way he goes to Boston with Swihart and Vazquez in the system. There are other teams that could use him more.. plus, Boston can't afford to blow their farm system right now considering there's a huge gap in their system below AAA.. most of their high-end prospects are either already in the majors, being held for value (see Ed. Rod, Owens, Johnson), or in A ball (Moncada, Margot, Devers). Trading for Vogt would likely require Boston to give up on both Swihart and Vazquez, with Swihart likely to be traded. And right know, Swihart's value is way down due to him being rushed to the majors.
  10. Based on that, I'll bet it'll be soon.. things need to change in Toronto.
  11. Can someone please shut Buster Olney up? Just the other day, he suggested that the Red Sox should trade for Vogt.. which isn't happening as he's under Oakland's control until 2020. And unless Boston really turns it around, I expect them to be selling veterans at the deadline. Besides, their recent success isn't going to last, as highly-ranked Minnesota looms tomorrow. And we all know Oakland, who comes up after that, isn't as bad as their record shows.. if they could get some bullpen stability, they could rebound. Oh BTW, here's the stupid Vogt rumour: http://www.masslive.com/redsox/index.ssf/2015/05/boston_red_sox_trade_rumors_as.html
  12. Not happening. 8 games back of KC and 5 back of DET/MIN. And their recent streak is due to playing last place teams in the Chicago White Sox and Cincinatti Reds. And they have a tough schedule ahead, and that bullpen is still and issue. It wouldn't be so bad if they were in the AL East.. but being in the toughest division, they may start selling veterans soon as they have no hope of catching the Tigers or Royals, and possibly the Twins, as they have really improved with Paul Molitor there..
  13. Rays just lost. Only in the AL East, the Jays can still be in contention despite being below .500.. while all the good teams are in the AL Central (except for Chicago, who sucks.)
  14. Jays win! And we're going to cut our deficit to 4.5 games.. What a joke of a division the AL East is.
  15. Preston Guilmet's numbers: 2.0 IP, 2H, 1ER, 1BB, 2Ks, and a DFA or option to Durham coming when the Rays cut him for another arm tomorrow.
  16. All right, you Guilmet fans. He just came into the game for the Rays in mop-up duty, as they are losing big to the A's.
  17. Bringing Osuna in most likely because Sanchez is running out of gas.
  18. Casey McGehee, a leader in GIDP, has been DFAd by the Giants, as rookie Matt Duffy has badly outplayed him..
  19. And may have just lost Steven Souza Jr. for a while because of this play:
  20. With the cruddy AL East, that's a difficult question to answer.
  21. Here we go again.. cue the 8-10 game suspension ready for Matusz:
  22. Because he can still swing the bat and actually get on base?
  23. Yes, Collabello stinks in the OF, that I can agree with. and he needs to be at DH or 1B.. but Valencia is actually not that bad in LF according to defensive metrics. He is a converted 3B, after all. We do need Bautista back out there, however. And Estrada WAS a starter in Milwaukee, and Sanchez was a starting prospect. So your "relievers in the rotation" thing is false.
  24. If Gibbons goes, I can see DeMarlo Hale taking over on interim.. but when?
