  1. He may realize Money coming off the books won't be given to him for reallocation. Buehrle Won't get a good return and just because the Dodgers spend money doesn't mean they are suckers.
  2. Subconsciously that is the reason I want Rasmus traded.
  3. If the Jays can get pitching in return, they could move him even if they are still in it, If Fransisco keeps, Lind could also go. I think Gose has a floor around 1.5 WAR from defense alone, He takes walks also and gives the team speed.
  4. I think he will be too much of an enigma for anybody to give him a big deal, His K rate and BABIP from last year will likely scare teams away from long deals. my guess is maybe 4/35. Also accurate comparison or not the B.J. Upton comp will cost him. I don't think the jays will keep either, unless they fall to be a bargain.
  5. Who did AA do that to and how would that be a problem? If they don't offer him a qualifying offer it's on Rasmus for not performing well enough to warrant one, AA tried to move him in the offseason, but nobody would buy into him sustaining his production with those strikeouts. He may already be tagged as the next B.J. Upton. If they can get him cheap and he will play left, they should keep him, Otherwise they should get what can for him because Gose should be the starting CF next season.
  6. Rasmus is likely trade bait come the deadline, Unless AA feels an extension can be worked out at a decent price or other teams won't give a good return because of his strikeouts. I really doubt AA extends Rasmus.
  7. Everybody see the 2b projections on fangraphs. That should answer this threads question.
  8. He is British so I doubt he cares about baseball at all. He will need to make a profit on the team every year or he will lower the budget, Whether that's through integrated products or ticket sales or whatever. I think he will recommend a reduction in payroll, Not for this season, but in the next few years.
  9. I'm not impressed by the new CEO's previous work. I bet he emphasizes cutting costs and prices at Rodgers and working on a reboot of their public image.
  10. If they aren't contending they should trade all three, But throwing Delabar into the closers role and hoping for the best is not something a contender should bet on. The WAR those two could put up is likely higher than what the 10 mil gets you anyway. This team is better with them on it, So unless they can bring in something better that's MLB ready , moving them would be a lateral move at best. They wouldn't get the Jays Tanaka Money.
  11. It was a one year deal and he would have been able to clear some payroll.
  12. Trading two of the Jays 3 potential closers on good deals to get 10 mil to spend is dumb, Especially since the bullpen will likely be overburdened again this year. They should trade one, Which he tried to do and it should be for talent not cash. Happ would have been gone if they signed somebody, But they didn't make a deal so he is more useful then the cash at the moment. 130 million is a great payroll, But this is not in a vacuum, Timing needs to be considered and holding back another 10 and letting the Jays enter the year with a glaring weakness is short sighted.
  13. If the Jays don't add a starter they need to go with the best five they have, At this point there is little doubt Stroman isn't one of them.
  14. The question is how much they hedged and how much they need for normal business operations. Also important how long they think this will last, Since it will be used on mandatory spending in U.S. dollars. Thinking this is not a problem is just as ridiculous as thinking this is a none issue, Unless you know the inner working of Rogers expenses and Liabilities.
  15. Or if it was expressed in advance that he wouldn't go to certain cities, So they didn't bother with offers.
  16. Really is a perfect fit, But then monies once again takes Toronto out of it.
  17. The Yanks will go with Garza and the I think the D-backs are willing lose the pick at the right price. All it will take is somebody else signing Ubaldo. With Santana's homerun problems he's not a realistic choice.
  18. I don't think the Jays will sign anybody really. If the Cubs get Tanaka I think the Yankees, Angels, And Daimondbacks take them. Ubaldo is the only good fit and I think he will be the most coveted.
  19. Although you could be correct, Many people thought that about Darvish.
  20. Well I'm not about to speak glowingly of Happ, But all of the pitchers you mentioned come with huge caveats. Happ would be most likely to toss 150 decent innings in the group.
  21. He may end up having to resort to those type of deals, But that is probably the contingency plan. The Jays are a decent starting staff away from contending, So I doubt AA wants to leave it up to a bunch of lottery picks.
  22. They could be worth 3 wins combined next year, which will be hard to get with just the cash freed. If they can get Nick Franklin cool, but I don't think that's possible.
  23. I'm sure if AA needs to clear payroll, Happ is on the short list, But I don't see the point in moving depth in the teams biggest weakness.
  24. They do have value, But what would those teams offer the Jays that would make them better this season.
