  1. is it like short for something you'd find on Terb? like GFE or BBW?
  2. hahaha a younger guy with upside? Right there and then you guys should have stopped believing it was true.
  3. Are we still in that window or did that window get fogged up?
  4. I understand your point. The bottom line is, it's not a perfect science, and while steamer does have a method and strategy behind his numbers, it still is far from perfect and only 5% above 50 percent in that sample. Good for betters but not good enough to be used as often as it is on these boards.
  5. Here are his 2013 projections. How did that turn out? I think my wife could have picked better. http://www.chatsports.com/new-york-yankees/a/The-2013-MLB-Projection-Blowout-Steamer-Edition-2-7606746
  6. I'm going to the saturday afternoon game, I'm sure you can get cheap tickets from a scalper 10 mins before the game or kijiji/cl
  7. Also, do the Jays get naming rights money from rogers for the rogers center?
  8. Great, the blue jays are left with the scraps. Is he even good enough to be a starter? He doesn't look like he has the kind of stuff for the starting rotation. Why overpay for an unproven reliever anyways? There were way better players available before him. I can never figure this club out, maybe it's better that way so I'm not pissed off again when they finish near the bottom.
  9. As expected, the fall of the Canadian dollar will impact Canadian teams. FROM MLBTR: The shift in favor of the American dollar against the Canadian variety is beginning to have an impact on Canadian sports teams, writes Sportsnet.ca's Michael Grange. "It won't affect our plans for this year, we're already locked and loaded (with regard to payroll)," said Jays president Paul Beeston. "But it will affect our bottom line, that's for sure."
  10. You're forgetting the time value increase of money as well. Maybe not much but it's still a factor. But, he was always considered a high prospect in their system, he's developed and now they don't have to worry about him hitting FA for a while. I don't think it's a bad deal at all, in 3 years if he hit FA, 21m might be a low number for him, considering he'd be like still 27. There would be a huge bidding war for him. He's been pretty cluth, he hit a ridiculous number with RISP. I think it's a fair for both sides. I know you're looking at the 17aav number, but they lock up his best seasons. He's not 32, they have him in his prime.
  11. I think the team that goes to 2 years will probably get him. Maybe 1 + (1 option) 2/30 I'd much prefer 1-2 years of Burnett than overpaying jiminez/santana AND losing a 2nd round pick.
  12. Well, that goes a bit hand in hand. Did he get players that were declining? Did he get players that were overpaid? Did he get players that were over 30? There have been, and will be, better players he could have targeted. Players in their prime or entering it. To say he's done a 'great' job is a bit much? He's done a great job at making a splash but money talks, BS walks. Right now, we have a whole lot of BS with this team. Most people here are prepared for another mediocre season and are ready for the blow up including a new GM.
  13. huh? Those are not really the most exciting free agents to ever exist. Certainly not enough to take this club into contention. This club still needs a real #1 pitcher.
  14. A lot of teams have 4-6 guys who could have big seasons also. That means nothing. Right now, 24th seems about right, with Stroman/Sanchez really being the only studs.
  15. Honestly, I'd love for the Expos to come back, ESPECIALLY with a beane or friedman at the helm. But, not sure if the city can support it. This city requires a winning team, and a below average payroll or something like a 70-75m payroll, wouldn't cut it. After the hooplah fades, it will come down to putting quality on the field. If they stay in the NL east, they need to compete with the phils/braves and they would need a 100m payroll. Not sure which kind of rich owner would do that. However, I think the Expos are selling more jerseys now that they don't exist versus before, lol
  16. You do realize, the Blue Jays, have not finished ahead of the yankees in 20 god damn YEARS!!!!! lol That will not change this year. 2 decades, there are some posters on this forum who aren't even that age.
  17. yet they will still finish ahead of the blue jays and most likely make the playoffs
  18. reports have him at full strength and fighting for a spot in the rotation, if he's healthy, his upside is tremendous. They have been very cautious with him, but he's still very young, he will most likely be a very solid pitcher this year with limited innings.
  19. Think this puts the Yanks at #1 in the div imo. They needed an ace and they got him, and most people believe Tanaka is just that. They might have a slight infield weakness but every team has a weakness, but overall I think they just locked in first.
  20. Jays are not in on Tanaka according to MLBTR but are involved with the next set of free agents. AA doesn't mind giving up a 2nd round pick.
  21. Ok true, it's not 0, but it's very unlikely. Their infield isn't completely s***, they still have very good d at 1b and C. They also have Pineda who is apparently healthy and looking good, fighting for a spot in the rotation. Plus, I'm sure they aren't done, if they fail at Tanaka, they are going to get the next best option starting pitcher.
  22. lol 0 chance , every year we go through the same thing, and every year it never happens. We paste the lineups and compare the players, and then every year the yanks finish better. So, when will you guys ever learn?
  23. lol you're joking right? The Jays will finish well below the Yanks once again, Yanks will finish in first or second. Even with the loss of Cano, no other team in the East has done anything. At least they added some key pieces and have some guys coming back from injury and I believe Tex will come back stronger than last year. No chance they will be even remotely as bad as the Jays were last year.
  24. I'm not sure about greed, the payroll is at a number that I think is justified given the size of the market. It's just not optimized which is why the blue jays will suck again this year. Now, if we didn't have any hope, what would be the point of being a fan? Granted, the hope is a very very very very small percentage, it still is there because we got surprised last year with the trades/increase in payroll so fans still hope for a possibility the Jays will do something again.
