  1. Blue Jays will be the most expensive .500 or under team in MLB for a long time if that happened. Even the Mets started to build up some prospects and have the means to have a way higher payroll than the Blue Jays. Hopefully Ross isn't here if that's even an option.
  2. They can't be here. They have been here 10 years and no one can say they are excited about the future. You factor in their core/their contracts/their farm, I can't see any team worse than us. The only good thing is payroll at 240m hiding their deficiencies. Patch jobs are going to just bring this team to .500 and barely fighting for a spot. I think most fans here understand the makeup of this team and recognize there is no other way given the fact we probably have the worst farm in the majors now.
  3. It's a 3-5 year project. They need 3-4 years of high drafting alone, then waiting for those guys to come up. Trades aren't going to net too many top 50 prospects just because of what the Jays have now.
  4. At least they are doing it with a modest payroll lol
  5. 2 years? It’s going to take a lot longer than that to rebuild the minors. They won’t need to be adding a big name for at least 3-4 years.
  6. About 3-4 years to stockpile talent, then another 2-3 to play them (while still rebuilding) and have them come up and see who pans out. So, ya about 2030.
  7. Atkins was also focused on patch jobs instead of really building a base. The future does not look good right now, and it's one thing to have a super competitive, young, core pieces locked to long term deals type of team. But the Jays don't have that. They also have what, 1 maybe 2 guys in the top 100 prospects with no real quantity or quality guys. So we can focus on 1 offseason or the bigger picture. The bigger picture sucks right now. Fire him, get a GM who recognizes the state of the club and takes steps to fix it instead of these patch jobs to try to squeak into the playoffs to lose.
  8. Yep, they'll need to focus on rebuilding for a couple of years. The fans will have to understand it is going to take time since the prospect pool is thin right now. The good news is that the Jays have the resources to add free agents when the time is right again.
  9. Probably going to start this season when Jays are out of the playoffs. But Chapman would have had more trade value than anyone Atkins signed this offseason.
  10. After the jays fail to make the playoffs, they can analyze all the could have moves. Bauer would be great to sign and trade at the deadline as well.
  11. It definitely helps to actually develop and lock up talent to team friendly deals. The deal is great for KC. AA did the same with the Braves. Jays will need to do that on the next rebuild.
  12. I would go all in and add Cronenworth to that package.
  13. Stroman is a baby. He's not the kind of character you win with.
  14. Agreed, if Atkins is done and just adds Soler then it's going to be tough to make the playoffs. I guess they'll have pieces to trade at the deadline, but I hope they are prepared for an underwhelming season and to possibly rebuild.
  15. This is a non playoff team with very few high end prospects. I guess he's happy lying.
  16. I think management sees they have a small window now. They have arguably a bottom 5 farm right now, not exactly an amazing core of young guys signed to team friendly deals. Vlad/BO either need new deals or to be traded. I think it's either they decide to add 2-3 big pieces this year and go for it and add like 50-60m to payroll or just rebuild the farm and then at the deadline dump Vlad and maybe BO.
  17. Ya, don't understand why you would do that. India's last two years have been underwhelming also.
  18. Just hoping we sign Bauer too. Ohtani alone won't be enough, especially if Yanks get Yamamoto. We need another couple of big pieces.
  19. He's 30 years old, the odds are, the contract ends up terrible from a baseball perspective only. Maybe the team makes up for it in revenues but it's going to handicap a team in a couple of years, especially one with very few good prospects.
  20. I rather trade Vlad than Tiedemann. I think Tiedemann first year gives us more WAR that Vlad. I know Vlad/Manoah+ won't get it done for Soto though.
  21. Don't think he's getting any MLB deals, he's been bad for 2 years. That was Votto's agent writing the Jays should give him 10m. He'll be lucky to get a spring training invite at this point.
  22. That's a good point. If the Jays had several top 50 prospects coming up and had several team friendly deals for their core (ala Atlanta) it would make sense. But, Ohtani takes the jays to their max payroll with several holes and Bichette not signed long term. We can always end up like the Angels, which none of us want. Older players with massive contracts all declining.
  23. So let's say the team ads Hoskins + Goldy next year and that's it, since that would use all the available budget, you think that is enough to make this a playoff team? I don't.
  24. The majority of big deal contracts to players signed over 33 years old look like they are going to end horrible. I'm hoping for Yamamoto + Hoskins.
  25. He'll probably have interest in whoever wants to give him a shot. He's probably only getting ST invites at this point.
