  1. After what happened this year I assumed Pompey was going to be traded or released. Management must still like him enough to give him another chance.
  2. In the minors, he pitches 4-5 innings every 5 days against minor league hitters. Then he sits on the bench for 4 days discussing things with other minor league players, gets a bullpen session with the minor league pitching coach. In the Jays bullpen, he sits with 7 other major league relief pitchers every day, gets a bullpen session with a major league pitching coach/ catcher every couple days, and gets to pitch against fringe major league hitters for an inning every 4-5 games, with a mlb catcher and pitching coach advising him. Whats not to like, other than his possible results, which probably wont matter?
  3. The best answer to this, is why would Jays send him back? If he pitches 40 innings this year, and then spends next year in AA, does it matter? After 2019 he will be 20, Lots of time to try him out as a SP in the minors.
  4. Jays AAA rule 5 pick... David Garner (Cubs),,,http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=595219#/career/R/pitching/2018/ALL He has had a few drug suspensions
  5. Scouting report ..https://royalsfarmreport.com/2018/06/06/scouting-new-royals-prospect-elvis-luciano/
  6. We now have a manager who is good at managing minor league players. There will be plenty of opportunities to use Elvis in low leverage situations, against bottom of the order hitters. This is a move for the future, not 2019.
  7. Elvis has huge upside. Considered as an equivalent to a 1st or 2nd round draft pick. He can be stashed for blow out games this year. Good Pick.
  8. Cy Sneed and Art Warren
  9. Yeh sure, another middle infielder, and a DL specialist.
  10. I think a lot of posters are putting a large value on Diaz 2nd half. Yes he had a very good 2nd half, but his 1st half was pathetic. SS defence is barely adequate, Better at 3B which we have covered. Diaz is a reserve infielder that hit well for 3 months. The fact that every team is looking for SP, the fact that the Jays are in dire need of SP, and the fact that Thornton had a decent year in AAA at age 24, could be a mlb SP for the next 6+ years, and could help this team for a long time, makes this deal happen every time. Good trade.
  11. Why not Martin? He would have to be better than half of the managers the jays have hired and fired in the last 40 years. He knows the team. He is already under contract. He is young enough to relate to the new kids. Plus it would keep him off the field.
  12. I agree that blisters are more common today than years ago. The issue is, what do you do about it? Al Leiter solved his problem by soaking his finger in pickle brine. I believe that Sanchez and Stro have tried this. Personally I always found that doing a lot of hard work with your hands, toughened up the skin. I would have expected that they would have tried this also? Carry a brick around?
  13. 125 ML pitchers have thrown more innings than Stroman this year. 137 pitchers have thrown more innings than Sanchez this year. Most starting pitchers are not having the kinds of problems our guys have had with blister problems. 62 SP have thrown over 150 innings already. Dunno?
  14. I have thought Sanchez belonged in the pen on several occasions over the last 2 years, usually after he gets put on the DL. But then he comes out and dazzles every now and then. You wonder, how can this blister problem keep occurring? Jays go 40 years, and up till now, Al Leiter was the only blister problem. Now both Stro and Sanchez are reoccurring. You can blame the balls, and the pitches, but every other Starting pitcher is dealing with the same balls and pitches. You also have to wonder why the blisters did not occur earlier in his career? It really makes sense to turn him into a setup guy, they do have value, even though Boras will flip out if the Jays make Sanchez a reliever. Who cares?
  15. That's true. The player that's being criticized here, by his age should be playing at AA. What I see is a very exciting young player, learning at the big league, and doing some wonderful things. How can you not be pleased?
  16. It should be announced after the WS. Although maybe there is a deal such as the Jays get to choose from players Cleveland is sending to the AFL? Scout the players down there, and make the choice?
  17. Donaldson had blamed the Jays for making him do sprints, when he thought he was not physically ready. I believe that was when he totally blew out his leg. This sounds like sour grapes to me. JD should have taken the FO offer in the winter for the extension, he is pissed he didn't, and now he is an Indian. However a strong finish to the season, and maybe every team forgets 2018 and he still lands a big FA contract. Plus a strong finish gets the Jays a couple of very good prospects?
  18. Henke always brought out the utmost in confidence. Wardo at times would bring out the least. When Ward was the setup guy, there were plenty of times when he would be incredibly hittable. I think he lost 10 games 1 year. When he finally closed games after Henke left, he became quite good.
  19. If Osuna is convicted of the assault charge, it may stop him from visa eligibility, No visa- No play. Any decent return here could turn out very good for jays.
  20. I like this trade. Rowdy has begun to lose his lustre, and there was not much else in the pipeline.
  21. Voiding a players MLB contract, may get the players to stop using PED. Make them a FA at the teams request.
  22. Hope this double header does not get rained out. Weather calling for rain most of day.
  23. Urena continues to make the easy plays look tough, and the tough plays look easy. He can be spectacular defensively at times, and then make an error. This will probably work itself out with time, he is still young. His bat however is still questionable, and with the Jays he is blocked from progressing by players with better bats. I would take him anyday over Gift.
