  1. Heard the same thing in the early 2000's when the Hudson/Mulder/Zito/Giambi/Tejada/Chavez teams racked up wins in the regular season and couldn't win a playoff series. Honestly, I think Beane feeds into it with his excuse that "the playoffs are all about luck." Regardless, they need to start winning in the playoffs before they can be trusted as the favorites. A whopping one playoff series win since 1990 isn't cutting it.
  2. I would rather trade Bautista for just a package of prospects than try to rebuild the 2000s Mets that never won anything with Reyes and Wright.
  3. I like the team Oakland's built, but they've choked so many times in the playoffs in the Beane era that I just can't buy them as the overwhelming favorite until I see results.
  4. It has nothing to do with "energy." This is simply a bad baseball team that played over their heads for a month, whereas the rest of the division is made up of superior teams.
  5. Says the person who's schtick is to nitpick every new poster's posts for spelling errors in an attempt to claim they were a previously banned member.
  6. The constant Metallijay witch hunt has grown tiresome and ruins every GDT.
  7. LOL, the excuses have shifted from "still in first place" to "still in position to challenge." By the end of the season, it'll be "still haven't been contracted yet!"
  8. May was a fluke, as evidenced from how this team has played the rest of the season so far. Sorry, but it is what it is.
  9. Don't tell the homers that, they're living in a dream world where we're the best team in baseball and have a commanding division lead. They don't like being reminded of reality.
  10. Maybe Ruin Tomorrow might be suckered in, since he's the one worse GM than AA in all of baseball.
  11. Seriously? He was a loser on the Mets, a loser on the Marlins, and a loser for us last year. Reyes is just a bum, period.
  12. Pretty much. Hilarious to see the homers predictably blaming umpires and/or luck after every loss, too.
  13. That's such a lame excuse. If players are willing to go to shitholes like Detroit, they'll go to Toronto. The problem is AA constantly hemming and hawing about "value" and then using Toronto as an excuse when nothing gets done. Nobody will come here if you're only willing to offer $0 for 1 year because anything else would be "bad value."
  14. There's no reason to panic. This team was widely predicted to be around .500 at best and that's basically what they are. They just caught fire for a month and had a bunch of fluky circumstances go their way, which has vastly inflated their record. People can point to the standings all they'd like to deflect from any (totally justified) criticism of the team's play, but the division as a whole sucks ass and the only reason we've managed to not fully blow the lead yet is because the Yankees and Orioles keep choking. Would anyone really be surprised if our luck runs out there, too? At the end of the day, we have one of the worst GM's in the sport and a poor manager who doesn't get the best out of his players and loves to overmanage. We've mortgaged the future on a bunch of overrated and injury-prone players and nothing was done in the offseason to improve on last year's debacle. The end result was never going to be pretty.
  15. LOL, Yankees bailed Reyes the f*** out. I'll take it though.
  16. We haven't played 1st place in AL East MLB ball since May. We're just lucky that the rest of the division is mediocre, and even then, we've still been blowing crucial divisional games lately.
  17. I don't know about you guys, but I'd much rather be watching d'Arnaud, Syndergaard, and Marisnick than f***ing Dickey and Reyes.
  18. He's not even good and he's way overpaid. AA sold our farm system down to the floorboards to bring in terrible contracts like Reyes, but people have actually been defending him this season... LOL.
  19. Another winnable game being blown as a direct result of AA's panic trades as well as his ridiculous decision to bring back Gibbons. Will he finally be fired when this collapse has us out of the playoffs?
  20. Still can't believe AA sold the farm for a proven career loser and bum like Reyes.... and still has a job.
  21. Are people really still this homeristic from that fluke May that they need to physically see the team drop out of first before waking up to how bad they've been sucking?
  22. No, it's not. This 74-win team is just playing to its true talent level.
  23. It's only one game, but goddamn, that was fun. Also, the Reds board is so butthurt right now, whining that EE and Bautista use steroids and complaining about the EE trade.
