There's no reason to panic. This team was widely predicted to be around .500 at best and that's basically what they are. They just caught fire for a month and had a bunch of fluky circumstances go their way, which has vastly inflated their record.
People can point to the standings all they'd like to deflect from any (totally justified) criticism of the team's play, but the division as a whole sucks ass and the only reason we've managed to not fully blow the lead yet is because the Yankees and Orioles keep choking. Would anyone really be surprised if our luck runs out there, too?
At the end of the day, we have one of the worst GM's in the sport and a poor manager who doesn't get the best out of his players and loves to overmanage. We've mortgaged the future on a bunch of overrated and injury-prone players and nothing was done in the offseason to improve on last year's debacle. The end result was never going to be pretty.
